    Hi,I am designing a texture make-over for FS9 (Realitypack series) but cannot remember the file name a particular texture which is bugging me. Does anyone now of a toolwhich displays the file names of textures (in FS or out) for a particular area? I vaguely recall seeing something like that a long time ago but have not been able to findit anymore!Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!Sascha

    I have a major project which involves rendering a car i've designed in a scene. i'd really like a cad model of a city (melbourne, australia specifically) in the background of this rendering, and would love to place the car right in the city and have the buildings reflecting off the car etc-and i'll add extra road side details etc in max to get it looking more realistic where needed.I have melbourne scenery for i bought ages ago for flight sim 98 (quite old i know, and have seen how good the maps are now with things like FTX blue), my question is, is there a way i can import this cad data into 3dsmax?     I am not sure if these horrible little GA fuel stations are protoypical in US. They certainly aren't in UK/Europe and almost certainly not in Russia. I'd like to get rid of them. All of them! Is there a shortcut way of doing this or will I have to spend my remaining years excluding them one by one? Thanks.John

    Following a discussion in another forum here, I experimented with ADE9X to place a new VOR. Despite what the ADE9X manual says, I found the the magvar entered for the VOR did have an effect - effectively rotating the VOR by whatever value is input. Has anyone else found this?

    What does the Alt Desc setting in the approach editor mean? I figure PLUS and MINUS mean at or below the altitude setting under Alt1 and Alt2 Feet, which is what the ADE manual says, but what the heck does A, B, C, G, H, I, J, V and Space mean??? How would you know what to set there? It seems no one on the FSDeveloper website has made reference to this setting, but it does something I assume.I'm just trying to understand the appraoch code better so I can maybe tweak a few incorrect approaches in FS9.Thanks,Chris

    Need some help figuring this out. New to the FSX annotator, read thru Luis's tutorial, scoured the SDK, searched forums, still no luck. I have a photoreal scenery, the BMP is around 160 MB. I start the annotator, load the custom PR BMP, pick a grouping, set GUID, place my objects and buildings, select save and I now have an .agn file. I place it in the texture folder of my scenery, but with autogen to max, I see no 3d autogen. Any suggestions on what might be wrong or what I am missing?

    I am OK with the compressed, FS8 style bgl files - it's easy to get them to sca files, edit that and recompile with BglComp... But I have never understood what happens with FS9 files. Can anyone please help me on this?I have a bgl file which contains a lot of extra buildings around Dubai - all very nice, but the file also contains the Burj tower, which I already have (in a much better representation), so I now have two towers side by side. Clearly I want to remove the less good one. I cannot use BGLAnalyze for this, as the said bgl is an uncompressed file and that programme won't open it of course.     so my scenery for KCRG involved a new AFCAD file and i placed parked aircraft with the FSX SDK object placer.the file name with the placed objects is KCRG_objectdata.xml when i try to compile it with the BGLcompiler, i get a command promt window that opens for 1 seconed and closes. but theres no BGLfile generated.ive searched this fourm and another and have tryed every suggestion that i could,none have workedso is there anyone who can help. or am i just screwed

    Hi everyoneHoping one of you pro's might be able to give me some help/guidance if possible?I have noticed that most(?) FSX airports have static approach lights however, when lined up at EDDV I was greeted with the attached! When flying I notice the strobe effect either side of the threshold at airports but it looks like some airports have a strobe effect 'down' the middle of the threshold? Would these be called runway guidance lights and can this be edited for other airports and if so what would I need to have in order to do that?(You will see from this link what I am referring to: http:// )Many thanks and best regards

    Hi- What would be the tool/method of choice for placing static aircraft at an airport? I recently bought Air Traffic FX thinking that the static aircraft placement function would do the trick (and it does) but everything disappears once you close FSX and then you get to do it all over again. I'm thinking this is a scenery issue but not sure how to proceed.Thanks,Mark

    I've been trying to create an airport from scratch using various programs. I like AFCAD2 for placing runways, taxiways, etc., but it doesn't create flat or exclusion areas. Or at least not the version I have. I've tried FSSC. Though it will work and create the .bgl files they seem to not have any effect on FS9, the terrain where I'm using it does not "flatten". I notice in another part of this forum that FSSC is not recommended for use with FS9 anyway. I found various tutorials for manually writing the .bgl but it doesn't seem to work either. I've gotten it to raise the altitude of the terrain where I want the airport (though I specify 10 ft. it makes it 85.7ft.) but it i…

    Greetings to all the Avsim members. My name is Tim and i've been around awhile, I'm not new to scenery design and have used the Avsim library extensively. I have designed over 90 sceneries/missions for FS9 with a large portion of those at hovercontrol and globalaviationnetwork, I have now moved on to include sceneries and my first 3 missions for FSX and i'm lovin it.     Hi all,I am trying to replace an existing airport (EGDC) using FS9.I use XML file and BLGCOMP.The new airport is on 26 m altitude (just for testing, to be sure i dont have any flickering problems)The runways are shown at 26 m alt, but the aprons are on alt. of original airport (8,23 m)I can not set the altitude of the aprons in the xml file.The only way is to remove the original AP946130.BGL fileRudi

    I'm just getting into scenery design/modification and I have all the tools. This may be obvious to those that have designed airports before, but I'm going to show my stupidity and ask any way.I would like place signs (i.e., United Cargo over the Cargo hanger, etc.) and gate numbers at individual gates. Is this a major project? I can design the signs in Photoshop or equivalent, but how do I place them on the actual building or is there another method?Thanks....Jim Angel

    Hi all!I downloaded and installed BGLComp 2 from the MS website.Now when I drag-and-drop a xml file on BGLComp.exe a DOS window opens for some microseconds (impossible to read anything) and then nothing happens - no BGL is created.I really don't understand that... I have the mdl file in the same folder as the xml and BGLComp.exe / BGLComp.xsd! The mdl file also has the correct file name.Some time ago (before I did a full WIN reinstall) I did it exactly that way and everything worked! I don't see what should be different now.Thanks for help, I really need it!
