Every so often someone asks me with some incredulity why I am still using ground2k4 to design my scenery. The implication being that there are newer and better tools out there now. The fact is that I haven't found anything better or more reliable than Ground2k4 for making the kind of polygon based ground scenery that I do.However I have experienced problems with VPT2 line definitions with greyed and empty texture boxes and I know I'm not alone in this. People have previously reccommended:* Rolling back to version 5.33* Redefining the FS9 directory to re-hook G2k4 up with the lines cfg file* Installing the latest version of tdfmacros.I have had some success with:*reinstall…

Hello again @communitie.I want to create exact autogen for my Hometown, Rheine, EDXE. I tryed to made a own undergrund using photoreal textures, but its a little bit too compilcate and looking not good, several problems, and no winter spring e.G. textures. How can i find out, which bgl files and assigned .bmp files for this area around N52.2820 E7.454 are used by Fsim?I have installed f1's ET Europe. Is it possible to find it out? Or i had to ask f1 support which files are leaded at this coordinates? An other idea: Make a photoreal undergrund for the City, add Autogen using the SDK, after this add to all used bmp's complete transparency so the "normal" textures bekomm visibl…

About 80 people read it in the FSX forum and no reaction...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=9954&page=1Like, wouldn't YOU love an object-oriented (moving polygons and not points of polygons !), 3D-viewing, Window-type of GUI, bug-free editor ? mesh, LWM (including sloped) and VTP2 ... Dreaming is free. I would even be ready to pay 39.99 bucks for it !

Hi, I'm new here and I hope this question isn't too stupid, but I haven't been able to find the answer to my question in the posts I've reviewed so far. I'm having the devil of a time doing something that is probably very simple. I have Rwy12 and Abacus EZ Scenery, and I have been using them to place buildings around my scenery. However, I seem to be limited to the objects in those programs' libraries. I can't seem to access all the MSFS2004 libraries. I downloaded Kevin Ryan's vio.zip that lists hundreds of items that are supposedly IN the default library, but I don't know how to get to them to use them. Also on scenery.org, what I read said that vio.zip file had l…

Hello Everyone,I would like to know how to do the alternate ground textures (ie: runway and taxiway) from photos etc. I have FSDS V3 and know that I have to make the flat object in it then apply the texture. I'm currently lost at applying the texture as it won't appear and also I can't get the object to appear in EZ-Scenery.Thanks in advanceAaron

Hello,I'm having a #### of a time trying to figure this out. The default airport at NTMD _Nuku-Hiva is in a hole. It should be at 1400ft but the default is at 200ft.I modified the AFCAD as you can see in the photo below. So the runway is at the right altitude. But all the terrain around it is still way below. the runway, see:I don't know what to do. Can I exlude the entire default airport including the flatten? How can I fix this?Thanks!http://www.cpavirtual.org/images/banners/MyNewCrapBanner.jpgEric Thornton - CX001

I have never come across this before.Still using Ground2K...I created a rather large Lake (Yellowstone) attempting to improve the outline - all seemed well until several weeks down the line I found that going to map view was causing a crash - sometimes.By this time of course I had put in new airstrips, worked on other areas and so on, so when I eventually decided to figure what was causing the crash, it took a while. I eventually narrowed it down to one .BGL which is I think the lake, if I remove this _3.BGL I have a lousy-looking Lake but the sim doesn't crash in map viewSo I guess the advice is check map view frequently to make sure its OK!But does anyone have a solutio…

Guru's,I have installed the Hong Kong Kai Tak scenery and enjoy flying the checkerboard approach very much. However...When I get close to the field, the taxiway lines render in a very thin canary yellow. The taxiway lines are visible no matter what angle I view them from. At the end of the runway I can still see the taxiway centerline markings at the other end and over the entire ramp. The runway centerlines, boundary lines, and also the taxiway boundaries and "hold short" markings are all normal. Only the taxiway centerlines are affected.Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks,James

Is there a simple way to geographically unlock objects so that you can use them in your own sceneries. I've searched for this, but I found the answers very confusing and ambiguous. Thanks,Andreas

Is it true that Sbuilder is based on SCASM? It says that you need to install SCASM beta before you can use SBuilder. In the case, wouldn't there be a chance that your scenery will not work in FSX when it comes along. Based on the support for the previous generation theory. The Fs only supports one generation back. Which in this case would be XML. Is this true?

How do i go about creating an island that is not there? I've tried creating a landclass file with LWMViewer but it doesn't work. What do i need to create a new island. The island would be flat. Is this the same for inaccurate coasts? Would i need mesh?

Hey guys,This might be a dumb question, but in doing some AFCAD dirt strips, I installed the AFCAD BGL's into my Addon Scenery/Villages/scenery folder for the scenery addon pack I am doing. Another words, I placed the AFCAD files in the pack instead of in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder.Question one; Do AFCAD files have their own scenery bitmaps? or do they use stock Microsoft bitmaps? If they do not, do you need to send others the AFCAD textures? (...and where would they be located)?Question two; Do the AFCAD files need to be deposited into the main Addon Scenery/scenery folder to show up on others computers? or can they be placed in scenery package folders (in the …

Hi guys,it seems that airport for windows/scengenx moved their website due to technical errors. I found the site once but i can't remember it now. I goggled and can't find it. Anyone knows the site. It appears that the links to Scengenx all link to the non-functional website now. It would be very helpful to newbies like me to know the new website. Thanks.

Hi thereI wanted to add some of my custom repainted aircraft to my scenery and searched this forum for a topic that might help me doing this. What I found was the "almost static aircraft for fs2004" guide. The thing is: I have fs2002. So I can't create a parking only for selected aircraft in AFCAD (1.4 that is)... or CAN I?How can I tweak the aircraft and AFCAD in a way that the plane shows exactly where I want it?cheers & thanks

After a day's worth of frustration I finally managed to get RWY12 to place a static plane for me.....but it has no colour!! When I look at it's texture file with windows explorer in thumbnail view I find that a it and quite a few others are blank (just a drawing of a paintbrush). If those blank ones are opened with "paint" it says drawing failed. Does this mean that they are corrupt? Is that why my static plane has no colour?

Hi All;Sorry to ask - I've had the post on the Flight Scenery forum for a couple of days now, lots af hits but no replies. This is the strangest problem; my home base is now the fabulous KOQU, flying the T37 Tweet, AI is a bunch of MAAM's B25's and some C130s! I love it all.. . BUT I can still see the default (I guess) runway/taxyway/airfield markings visible "through" the Flight Scenery markings. for e.g. I see two centre lines - one bright white (default I think) - and a similar one, dull whitish grey, offset by a few feet. KSFZ is similar. I've tried aligning them all using AFCAD221, but - should I have to? Is there something here in the install that I'm missing? I'm l…

hi,i believe that it is possible to use 3ds max for creating sceneries and aircraft for fs. but how do you get your models in fs from 3ds max. I believe there's a number of scenery designers that use 3ds max or Cinema4D. Is there an sdk for this?

I have a question concerning AF2 files and scenery folders.I have made 3 AF2_xxx.bgl files, two covering airports in Greece and one covering 29S airport in Montana, USA.To see my changes properly, I had to put them in AddonSceneryGreece (example) (folder) scenery and texture folders (which I made) and add them through the Scenery Library add area function. I had added aprons and changed the lights and runway markings in all those files using AFCAD2. Before I did that setup (above), I had tried saving the afacad 2 bgl file in FS9SceneryWorldscenery, but in this case the aprons showed byt not the runway markings, so I changed to what I described above. Two questions: 1. Can …

Hi,I'm looking for a little direction. I looked all over the forums but couldn't find an answer to my question.I have Ultimate Terrain installed with FS2004. While VFR flying over the Mojave Desert in California (where there are numerous small dirt roads), Ultimate Terrain displays them as bland, light-grey textures that are *very* hard to discern from the air.I assume that UT or FS2004 breaks down roads into different categories, and renders each in different textures. So, how can I make dirt roads appear with realistic textures? Do I need to create my own replacement textures, or are there some default FS2004 dirt-road textures I can use? Then, how do I programmatically r…

I am nearing the completion of an enhancement of Easter Island - SCIP - and notice that MS has omitted a very tiny island just off the coast of Easter Island. If possible, I should like to include this tiny island also as it has significance to the local people.Would anyone have the time and interest in creating this tiny island for inclusion in the final project? I have a photo which shows the general shape and size of the island but have no expertise at all when it comes to creating something of this nature. If this is of interest to you please reply and we can exchange information that might be needed.I will greatly appreciate the assistance and would give full credit…
