Hello,So, I'm using FSDS3 and I thought I'd try to take their sample F18 and make it static to put on some aircraft carriers. I'm new at this, so may be I don't have all the steps down.1) open the model2) removed all lights, preprocessing, animation keyframes3) removed extra geometry like pilot.4) saved it as scenery mdl.5) modified the sample xml with my coordinates6) compile the xml using BGLCOMP.7) put the BGL in a scenery folder and the textures in the textures folder.8) started FS2004, select flight, and it crashes trying to load the scenery.Would appreciate someone letting me know what I missed. Or can I not do this?Thanks in advance.

It appears that a flattened area is automatically imposed by FS2004 around all runways and taxiways. There does not seem to be a way to adjust the area flattened with the Regional scenery files - FLnnnnnn, ABnnnnnn, APnnnnnn. Does any one know of a place to adjust this default flatten area?Dick Boley

Can someone please tell me how or where I can get the original FS9 scenery folder, aside from re-installing FS9? I have made some mistakes and have a mess of different water files. I would like to start over with the raw folder. Please have mercy and refain from telling me I should have made a backup. I really know that - now.Ken Alger

Hey guys,Just curious. If I were doing a large (large) amount of GPS locations for a project for scenery placement, is there a way then in which one could 'snap' the coordinates to a TXT file or something?Sure would save about an hour or more of jotting down coordinates on paper, then re-placing them into XML files. If they went into a TXT file, then once could copy/paste coordinates over.Bill

Hello all:The question I need to ask is not exactly about scenery designs, butI think it is rather a question for scenery designers, that's why I have come to this forum.The fact is I wanted to add an addon airport to the Airport Facility Directory because I wished to add traffic to it by FSTraffic (Yes, I know I'm mad to be on this instead of improving my FS2004 AI Traffic)So I found an utility called AFD V1.0 and I got to see my airport in the list, but I couldn't get to see the runway in it, (although I had written all the data for it), so I guess FSTraffic doesn't recognize the airport to add it traffic. So, anyone knows what I could do to add the runway to the Airpor…

Hello,Because Arno has just started to enjoy his holiday to corse, I thought maybr that here would me more ObPlacer users to help....I just (re)installed ObPlacer v0.40 in a seperate directory toghether with scas.exe (latest). However when trying to insert some macro/api files as described in the manual i'll get a run time error 53 "file not found" error.I tried with reinstalling .net, VB, etc stuff but without the desired results. Gurus,How do you remove the night lights (Ambient colour) from an object if you have previously applied it? I have tried unchecking the "ambient colur" box, reduced its opacity to zero, etc. but nothing seems to work.ThanksShez

Is there anyone out there who can help me with KTEX Telluride and the AI aircraft approaches.I believe (correct me please if I'm wrong) that for an airport like KTEX that the AI aircraft will tend to use the runway selected from the direction that they are arriving from. This means that if an aircraft is flying fron KDEN-KTEX that the AI will sellect RW27. The problem is that with the high mountain range to the east of Telluride, the aircraft seem to approach at a very high alt then go around, then app' high, then go around.....x(Is it possible to programe an arrival for RW27? Something like an approach to 09 then a circle to land, set up as a circuit? Am I getting in way…

Hi,A friend of mine encounters following problem. A strange object can be seen: see coordinates on screenshot. He runs FS002.He installed the add-ons for Florida:Fll, a landclass scenery;Jacksonville v2;Keyw (Key West);Marathon (KMTH);St Augustine;St Pete V4 (St petersburg);West PB (West palmbeach).Has someone got the same problem ?Thanks. HI, I am so confused. I have looked and looked, installed and un installed FS to cure a problem I don't know how I created.Somehow I have blocks of numbers on my tarmats at many of the large airport such as KBOS, KSEA, KJFK, and others. I also notice the my sceneries are mixed up. At first I thought it was a texture problem since I see other texture objects on the sides of buildings.I've updated my video drivers and only using freeware sceneries. I have RWY12 installed and that is about it.Any suggestion? I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere. Due to the sheer complexity and time consuming nature of scenery design I have finally come to the conclusion that I need help in making my scenery.Is there anybody out there? (Pink Floyd) that could help me by producing very good quality tropical trees so that I can concentrate on the other stuff, like Gmax, landclass, afcad, mesh etc. Any other help will be considered of course so just contact me if interested. It's freeware and tropical, just how I like it :) Colin

I create a gate animation in my airport.The wheels of gate are linked to dummy01 created by Helper/dummy in Gmax.All animation object name have tick18 prefix.I get tick18_dummy01 roll about 1100 degree.The wheels of gate also roll as dummy01 roll in Gmax.But after i export to FS.The animation work in fs except the wheels.They do not roll as they do in gmax.Are there something i go wrong?What step i miss ?Can any exprienced designer tell me what should i do ?Thanks :)

Uploaded to my website today. This beta fixes a couple of problems with the last version and adds the ability to display objects in day or night texture. You can also now display single mdl files if some of your objects are not in libraries. The Getting Strated Video Tutorial has been updated to reflect the new functions. All feedback most appreciated.

Hey guys,I am trying to place a few lights at Alt. However, when I place them in scenery, they show up about 1,500 feet above where the 'should' be.For instance, I tried 7 feet with AGL set at false. The airport is at 712 feet alt. So I place the object at about 719 feet and it appears at 2,200 feet roughly. Could there be something I am missing? I know that if they are using Meters for Alt., it still wouldnt cause the FX to show at that alt.Many thanks for any input.Bill

I tried using FSSC, but I'm getting nowhere. I go to scenery propertiesand fill out all the correct dimensions, have all the exclusions checked, than right click exclusion, put in the correct L&L, name it, save it, and export, and it's still there. Any suggestions? By the waywhere is this EXCBuilder2? I can't seem to find where to download it.

Can anyone give me a formula for precisely determining LOD grid lines in Latitudes and Longitudes, any level? I realized that I was calculating something wrong in my GMAX LOD Tool... but I don't quite understand where I went wrong. I thought that at LOD0, the world is simply divided into 6 regions, 3 in Longitude and 2 in Latitude... and then, for each LOD level, the areas are halved. I'd appreciate if someone can shed some light on this...

Hey guys,I was wondering, and have been experimenting with trying to put in FX lighting into FS scenery. It hasnt worked so far.The XML I am using is the same as in the Effects SDK from FS2004 for the forest fire, but with the forest fire FX traded for various lighting, which dont seem to work.Is there a way to make lights and insert them into FS?Kind regards,BillLHC

I am trying to update my home airport to reposition/delete some incorrect objects (tower placed on apron, missing windsock) and to add some enhancements.I have created a new bgl from scratch and it works just fine. However... the old misplaced objects are STILL visible whatever I do. I scanned for duplicate AFCADS, moved the scenery around in the hierarchy, but nothing seems to remove those objects (like the tower placed right on the apron where GA parking is supposed to be).My question: How do I identify and delete the culprit?Thanks,Patrick

Hi,I've started tinkering about with LWMViewer2 again, redesigning the terrain displays. In particular, the top-down display is faster and has twice the range that it used to, going up to a (fairly arbitrary) 100,000m high viewpoint.Since I'm playing with the code again, any requests I may have forgotten about?Cheers,Jim
