FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft and Panel Design Forum - How To

I like to ask 2 questions to the designers:1) Why you made the aircrafts ZFW so high that - with full fuel load - it definitely exceeds the Max. TOW?2) At 50% fuel load the plane burns over 30,000 lbs/h fuel at FL35 and Mach 0.84 ( ISA conditions ). With that fuel burn you get a range of 4,400 NM at the best whereas over 6,000 NM at full pax load are specified.Please give me some advise how to make this aircraft more realistic?

Hey, this is my first time posting in here... I just can't find out how to do this. I'm repainting a Beech 1900D in my virtual airline's colours. I'd been able to repaint the whole thing in PSP7, then after I'd used the colours available in the palette (not 16M), I decided that the colours, were just a little to light, and I changed the palette to 16 million, and adjusted the colours with the replacer tool. After that, I brought the palette back down to just the colours that were used, in the same way that the other colours had been before. Now it won't load in FS2k2, it freezes every time I select the plane... any ideas of what I did wrong?

I am wanting to add night lighting to the CV-580 but I know that I would need to edit the .mdl file I...right? Anyone know how to do this if I make the night textures? Thank you!!!!!!!

Hi,In FS2002, what does the "Fuel Flow Gain" parameter in the aircraft.cfg file do? And, exactly how is fuel burn calculated -- does it make use of Induced Drag, Parasite Drag, Fuel Flow Gain, etc?Thank you,Kurt

Basic question (to which I don't seem to be able to find an answer):In reworking an existing FS2002 panel window "mask", I am attempting to reposition and enlarge several gauges that were displayed behind a "mask" to remove their mounting hardware. Using FSPanel Studio 1.1 and PSP6 as a bitmap editor, if I load the "mask" window into PSP and select either the "black" color (shows 0,0 in the color pallet window) OR if I try to increase the size of the circles cut into the "mask" (a 74,74 gray), save the file and reload the panel, I'm still getting the original gauge circle holes covering my gauges. Can any of you aircraft builders tell me why this happens? This aircraft will crash on approach (as AI) and disappear after it receives clearance to take-off. It's a beautiful rendered model so I would hate to remove it, but the only time it functions well is parked, or taxi.Any help would be appreciated.Rick

I am trying to "Mirror" a Gear Door on my current (well first) project. If I mirror it using the modifier stack then it looks fine, but the animation is all over the place. If I do it with the "Mirror" on the toolbar then the normals are wrong AND it won't export (cannot export with a scale applied).Does anyone know if you can mirror animated parts ???

Hey all, I just seen some great looking panels on AVSIM and FlightSim.com for the AIRBUS A-330 and 340! But it says after like 15min some of the gauges shut down and will not work till you register the gauges! Now why do these great panel developers do this! I know is to make some money, but not all of us in this hobby have money to spend on good panels! I just do not understand why they do this! I thought they would share it with everyone to enjoy, but I guessed wrong!!Forgive me if I am wrong and these gauges are not payware, but if someone can explain a little bit for me what this means by regigstering these gauges? ok, all got this model that im trying to make.. so heres the problem.when trying to make a model for fs2002 gmax in the converstion gets to bout 50% done and then just quits.. the model in question has about 109,000 poloys... is this too much for the fs model converter... and like i said its still not done. landing gear and other things still to do.and one last thing the plane in question is a hammerhead from the sci-fi show.. I am repainting a Fokker 50 designed by Rob Bennis. Both the original (SAS Eurolink) aircraft and the repainted one have patches of black on the nose and the engines that the painted texture does not seem to cover. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.Ron

I installed and registered the latest version of Gmax. When I go to tutorials, there are none there. Nothing happens when I click the tab. What am I doing wrong? The other question I have is I would like to edit a gmax model. How would I do that and why cant i take a gmax designed aircraft in Fs2k2 and export its model into this program? I'm trying to paint an aircraft created using FSDS. As you all know, FSDS doesn't give me the ability to have reflective textures like GMax models do. So does anyone have any techniques or advice to help me create shiny or metallic looking textures for my airplane? Also, is there any way to increase the reflectivity or lightness of FSDS textures in the flightsim (just thought I'd ask anyway)Thanks

Is there a rhyme or reason to the arbitrary numbers in panel night lighting? Seems like it's trial or error.Suppose I want a glowing browinish/reddish 777 night lit cockpit (to match the PSS night lighting. What entry in the panel config would that be?Are higher numbers more dim than lower? Do the numbers correspond to the color spectrum? Are lower numbers indigo and higher numbers red?Any help? I'd like to further fine-tune the A-90 ekranoplane, and this time I would like to add a water rudder to this craft so I can control it after splashing down. Could anybody tell me what to do? Phew..finally got gmax going! Im doing the tutorials right now...actually pretty easy but I can see its gonna be time consuming. One question I have is how can i take a model from flightsim(gmax made)......and import it into gmax to edit it? Does this involve the plugins i see...makemdl etc? Im new at this so go easy:) I think once i can get the model into gmax i can tweak it with no prob...just not sure how to do that right now.Hornit

I'm dismayed that there are aircraft like Delta Airbus 319s for FS2002, and yet there's a bunch of aircraft that need to be done. US Airways and Southwest come to mind. Where are the great designers? Come on people, let's get the real ones made.
