Hi folksI built an XML HUD for helicopters that works well in FS'02, but friends who are testing the beta version of FS'04 are telling me the graphics are all huge, out of alignment and are, for want of a better word, "whacked".I suspect, from reading some posts in here, that it may be due to the 640VS1024 graphics statements inside the gauge, but have no idea how to fix it.Can Anyone help me (give me pointers) to get this thing to work in FS'04?The HUD can be DL'd from: http://www.thelz.com/Hudpage.htmlANY help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million in advanceSteve

  4. I compiled roughly about 15 BGLS with Airport 260 and used them in FS2000. I copied most of them to FS2004 and had success of all except 2.The BGLS that worked in FS2004 were essentially landmarks or minor sceneries of sorts. The 2 BGLS that did not work are the ones that depict an airport runway with an ILS approach which worked fine in FS2002 but not in FS2004.My questions are:1. Is it too soon to ask if there is somekind of a BGL converter from FS2002 to FS2004?2. Is there any way I can recompile the BGLS so that they would fit in FS2004?Would appreciate any help.Thanks.Abe

I have been trying to load Bill Morad's (God rest his soul) excellent FS2002 ATC gauge to the FS2004 B737-400 aircraft, with no luck. I am lost using the FS2004 ATC as I have been so used to using the ATC panel in FS2002 with no problems in any of the aircraft. The gauge allows you to toggle the ATC commands with the mouse rather than the keyboard. I tried to add the ATC Toggle switch to the left of the kneeboard toggle. I also added the ATC Panel as Window 07 (which is the way it was in FS2002) and in the same position in FS2004. I keep getting the error that the gauge is not found. Why are some of the gauges in the Gauges Folder and some in the Panel folder? I tried add…

Hi,I'm new to panel design, and I simply wonder which one of either XML or the old .GAU to use? As far as I understand, C is capable of much more than the XML-gauges, but does any one know for how long FS will use the old .GAU-files, or is XML the "way of the future"?Best regards,Jimmy

It took a bit of experimenting, but I finally managed to regain glass reflections in FS9!I set the material to 75% opacity, added 70 specular highlighting, and applied a texture bitmap (soft gold) with alpha channel set to 136,136,136.Here is the result in FS9...BillAVSIM OmbudsmanFounder and Director,Creative Recycling of Aircraft Partshttp://catholic-hymns.com/frbill/FS2002/images/fartslogo.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26910.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26911.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26912.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26913.jpg

Hello!I am working on an (FS2002) Altitude FMA where the goal is: Altitude FMA color should turn from white to green when aircraft is maintaining the MCP selected altitude. The snipped code://--> (A:Autopilot altitude lock, bool)ALT(A:Autopilot altitude lock var, feet)(A:Indicated altitude, feet) - < 250 & | (A:Autopilot altitude lock var, feet)(A:Indicated altitude, feet) - > 250) ! if{ (A:Autopilot altitude lock, bool) } && ALT//-->Despite hours of test & fail only the white Altitude FMA works so far, and it's hard to say whether the second element here is working or not. I have also used modified parts of the code I am using for the Altimete…

Hi everyone.Im building a very complex calculation and I want to have some of the work done outside of the drawing routine (ie by a seperate exe program) and then share the data by using the extern key word. Ive done a quick search through the windows MFC and I don't know of a function to execute to run another program from inside a gauge. Any ideas?ThanksJon

Hello! Is it possible, to make the bitmap size changing, controlled by an A: Var.?I would need it for a 'Rising Runway', which gets bigger while the aircraft is descending. As XML doesn't support Vector Graphics (yet), this is the only way to change the size of Gauge Elements!Maybe some calculation in the ImageSize="x,y"Does anyone know: Is it possible to realize such things as a Rising Runway with the help of Vector graphics with XML in FS2004???Best regards,Harry

In the same place the 04.cfg is found (Mine is:C:Documents and SettingsBLAH BLAH BLAHApplication DataMicrosoftFS9 XP ) this address is normaly a hidden file.. So if you cannot find it change your tools/folder options setting.. But anyway in the aircraft folder residing there are listings for the aircraft including add ons. Inside that are text files that hold the elapsed time engines have run..There are also some A: vars that monitor this.. Woo Hoo!Just FYI..BTW I am working on a list of A: K: vars new to 04 in an easy to read search format to keep your monitor desktop and your workspace desk free of stacks of paper.. Few more days.. I've just spent a few hours with FS9 and have it running, mostly well...However, for some strange reason, none of the 2d panels on the default a/c (never mind add-ons yet!) will show in while in Full Screen View! They will show up while in Windowed View. VC shows up fine in either view... Obviously, I installed my little Socata TB20GT first, so I can locate and fix the new "squawks..." :)Unfortunately, there are a lot of 'em, the worst being that the 2d panel won't display in any view at all! :(MS must have made massive changes to XML, because several of my gauges are either totally whacked (like the airspeed needle being outside the bezel, and some are completely "brok…

We used the "cowl flaps" tag to animate the window shades on the Beechjet 400A and the Hawker 400XP. Evidently, MS has changed the part name for animation, since they no longer will work as they did in FS2k2. :(Any ideas?BillAVSIM OmbudsmanFounder and Director,Creative Recycling of Aircraft Partshttp://catholic-hymns.com/frbill/FS2002/images/fartslogo.jpg

I was wondering if there was a way using XML or a normal gauge to add a "fix" to the default Microsoft GPS. For example, when I am flying around, I want to define a FIX called "MOOSE" then have it show it as a triangle in the GPS window. I could supply the fix coordinates as lat/long or radial/DME. Any idea what variables I need to access to do this?Thank youPilotWings

Folks,I am a newbie at this forum and at MS SDK programming for gauges and panels, so please excuse any dumb questions or comments in my ramblings below.I have been wanting to do a small GPS project for FS2K2. I have done serveral projects with FS2K2, using Peter Dowson's FSUIPC, with very good success. All of these projects have been pulling out information from the simulator. Now I want to write some data into the simulation. However, I do not see the right FSUIPC variables to access the internals of the GPS system in the flight sim, so I have resorted to look at the MS SDK's. Is this correct?I have read through the "Building Panels and Gauges" SDK, believe I have a…

Here's a pick of the completed wings. I decided to tackle the hard parts first, and then finish up with the easy stuff (Horizontal Tail) So far the Fuselage us complete, the wings and Winglets are done, the Vertical Stab and Rudder are complete. Next step is to seperate out the ailerons and flaps, and get the shape of the flaps correct. The way that I shaped the wing should make pulling out the flaps fairly easy, but then again, I don't find much with designing to be all that easy. We'll see how it goes. Once I get the model complete, I wanna send it off and have someone with paint experience do a texture base map, and maybe a livery or two. Then it will be released as a …

Back again, guys. I was able to do a reasonable texture for the side of my fuselage, but it only covered the side polys. Ideally I need to have a texture which can be used on the entire fuselage half in order to have the rivet lines properly aligned on all sides. I understand there is a way to 'flatten' the fuselage polys to form a template, but so far I have had little success. I tried the unwrap uvw modifier, but was baffled by what it gave me. Is there an easy way to make a template for painting?http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/26193.jpgMy problem area is mainly the radiused area ahead of the windshield. Thanks for the help!Robert
