I dont know if anyone else has noticed this, but on the lds 767 the flap animation is modeled very well, they extend and retract like liquid, one clean motion, unlike most aircraft where the flaps extend and retract in a choppy sideshow motion. How is something like this modeled?

Any idea why the resizing of a panel would result in an immediate crash to desktop?Anyone ever had that problem?

    Hi,Don't know yet what to do with it, but this formula should give lift force in pounds:(A:AMBIENT DENSITY,Slug/ft3) (A:AIRSPEED TRUE,feet/second) (A:AIRSPEED TRUE,feet/second) 3050 (wing area in sq ft) (A:INCIDENCE ALPHA,degrees) * * * * 2 / (>L:LIFT,pounds) Is this correct?(Values sometimes over 2.000.000 pound)Jan"Beatus ille qui procul negotiis..."

Probably not the correct forum but as all the panel gurus congregate here I am in with a chance of sorting my problem without having to reinstall.I have just started to come across a problem where of all the simicons on the panel it is just the radio stack icon that refuses to work. Having spent a couple of hours checking the panels with other aircraft it is occurring on all the aircraft with simicons on the panel and relates to many different panel files not just one panel that is aliased.Anyone have any solution for me please? Thanks

Hi Gang.I am looking for some help in trying to use the effects and,or textures from effects from one aircraft to another.example, I have the PSS Concorde, and as much as I love it, I would like to beef up the re-heat effects/textures, for this I would like to use the ones from the Alpha-sim B1B Bone, which looks mouthwateringly amazing.but of course I don't know how to do this.I have tried altering the aircraft file for the Concorde to use the effects from the bones aircraft con-fig file, but I get the re-heat effects out of line, usually up above the actual Concorde exhaust pipes position.can anyone please help me with trying to get these lined up correctly, there must …

Given a rotating SPRITE, I have been forced to deduce the zero point on the card experimentally. Originally, I had hoped that there zero point is the 3 o'clock position like needles, however this turned out to not be true.I'm betting there is a more direct method given the card's module var value and scale of rotation. For example, if I have a card using the KOHLSMAN_CARD_HG var which reports 29.92 as a starting value, and am using a scale of 60, how would I calculate the angle where to put that mark on the card?I suspected that I would take fmod(kohlsman * 60), but this doesn't seem to be correct either.

I did a really nice TC, and it works fine, but I used: execute_calculator_code("(A:Delta heading rate, rpm)", &rpm, NULL, NULL);to get the rate/min. Now, I'd prefer to just use the appropriate C++ MODULE_VAR, and so I tried these: DELTA_HEADING_RATE TURN_INDICATOR_RATEwith the later seeming to be a newer addition. I could not seem to figure out what units the later was in, and also am not sure that any of these simulate a canted turn coordinator vs. a turn & slip.On the plus side, the ball was easy, although as we know from previous posts not realistic.Which of these is best to use when trying to simulate the canted variety that senses roll and yaw? What …

Hi,I'm quite new to XML-gauge programming and to XML at all.Based On what I found in MS- and 3rd-Party-Files I started doing gauges and it worked quite well. Only thing I really hate is this stack-thingy when constructing more complex conditional statements.I wonder if there is a way to do that like it was back the days of procedural C, when I was young and learnd things easiely ;-) Doing that, you end up with code looking like this:(A:Circuit general panel on, bool)(A:GENERAL ENG1 FUEL PRESSURE, psi) 10.00 > if{ 1 } els{ 0 }(A:GENERAL ENG1 FUEL PRESSURE, psi) 25.00 < if{ 1 } els{ 0 }not worth to mention that this is not working at all. Does anybody know if there is…

Does anyone know what the limits of the turn rate in the turn coordinator in the C172 are? In theory books I found that it's 20deg/sec which is rather large (ie 1200deg/min). If this is linear (and since the needle is on a spring this is reasonable) my miniature plane rotates about 130 degrees max, which is a lot. The limit on the default gauge is about 40 degrees in comparison, so the miniature plane wings don't go over the balance ball cylinder, but (assuming a linear relationship) this corresponds to only 360 deg/min. Anyone knows how this works in real life?Cheers, Christian

When programming an altimeter, do you guys usually calculate the indicated altitude using KOHLSMAN_SETTING_HG (or MB) and ALT_FROM_BAROMETRIC_PRESSURE, or do you just use the XML var INDICATED ALTITUDE.

Having been unable to find any metric fuel gauges (litres + litres per hour) I've belatedly decided I'll have to write my own in XML.I've seen comments in the forum that the FS2004 XML will return fuel quantities in litres and flow rates in litres per hour, and a 'Units' file I found on FS2X.com lists both as available (albeit spelt 'liters').When I tried modifying the XML for the default Beech Baron 58 from (A:Eng fuel flow GPH:@ENGINE_NUMBER,gallons per hour)to (A:Eng fuel flow LPH:@ENGINE_NUMBER,liters per hour)it didn't work. Of course, this may be because the 'LPH' part is just a guess on my part - unfortunately I haven't been able to find anything about programmin…

I've added other gauges to the panel, which worked without much effort, just a bit tricky getting the correct coordinates. My attempt to add the map feature has me stumped. I've put SimIcon!Map Icon in the gauge listing, but nothing seems to happen, no icon shows on the panel. Do I need to include the SimIcon.cab in the panel? Or do I need to add a Window section? Stumped on this end.Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like -M.Twain

I have seen that many users have not been able to see the Boeing777-300.gau in the B777-300 in FSX. I have it showing just fine in the B777-300 and several other FSX aircraft panels. I use an ATI card. Some others that can't see the gauges seem to have Nvidia cards. I have been trying, along with other users, to find out why the gauges do not visualize in FSX for some. There are several threads on this subject, here and elsewhere, with no final answer. If anyone has an answer to this question please post it here. If anyone having an Nvidia card that can see the gauge, would please post that fact, it would put to bed that theory. Thanks, regards, Bob.

Hi,I have only very recently (yesterday ;)) started work on transfering my dull 2D panel bitmaps into exciting 3D drawings in GMax. The purpose of this excercise is not to create a VC but to have better looking bitmaps for my 2D panel. I have been searching through the GMax menu's and I couldn't find any way to "take pictures" in GMax that I can then use as bitmaps in FS. Can anyone help me out here ? I still ahve a lot to learn about GMax, and I presume I will find things along the way but any help here would be appreciated !Kind regards,Bj

I'm trying to make a master shutdown switch for the FSX helicopter I'm building. When you first start a flight - and everything is running by default - you can just click the switch to shut everything down properly.I started out by taking an existing 2-D battery toggle switch. Then I made the mods shown below. At this point, all I've done is replace the battery toggle click event with nav, panel, and landing light toggles. (I haven't removed all references to the battery yet; this is still just kind of a feasibility study.) The idea is to eventually have a switch that toggles everything that is, by default, running when you start a flight. When I click the switch now, it…

Hey,After nearly 6 hours of trying this and that, I am baffled. It would seem that the ADF_NEEDLE is supposed to provide a negative value to which you can then add 360 to get a relative bearing. If we call 12 o'clock zero degrees relative, I'm thinking of this relative bearing being where the needle should point, no matter the position of the compass card. But seems no matter what I do, my needle just reads zero (0).What is wrong with my code?FLOAT64 FSAPI AdfNeedle_cb(PELEMENT_NEEDLE pelement){ static FLOAT64 rel_bearing; rel_bearing = (pelement->source_var.var_value.n && 0x1FF) * 360/512; return rel_bearing;}#pragma region ADFNONLINEARITY adf_nonLinearity[]…

I'm trying to make an animation - for FSX, using XML - that will toggle a switch cover open and closed. There would be a switch underneath it for, say, the generator, which you could then toggle. The generator switch is a piece of cake, but how can I animate the switch cover? It doesn't have to do a thing, other than toggle open & closed. Here's what I tried - which didn't work:I created the keyframe animation for the switch cover in 3D Max. Then, in Modeldef.xml, I made a copy of the default battery switch animation to use as a starting point. I copied both the "part info" section, and the little section up top where the GUID is specified. I then changed the GUID to …
