Prepar3D V 3.4 Released
Don't know about content but scenery will overwrite any custom textures added by addon scenery, This is specially true for landclass texture products like ORBX FTX Global. If you have ORBX FTX Global then you must reinstall it after updating scenery, then run central. If you have UTX just run it's control panel and it will "fix" entries. Don't know about GEX?

Prepar3D V 3.4 Released
Uninstalling CLIENT is a MUST before installing v3.4, or you will probably mess (waste) up your license information. It will not mess up your addons. (Takes less than 5 minutes to uninstall-install) Content and Scenery are optional, but if you decide to update them, then they should also be uninstalled from Programs and Features.

The FTX install destination points to the wrong drive
You probably have a wrong path entry in the Registry. Maybe this can help: Tool from ORBX to fix paths. Registry Fix Tool. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Cheers

DLL.XML and Ctd
That is an FTX Central 2 bug. (Can't believe it is not yet fixed) Every time it runs, it inserts a duped Objectflow_KBVS entry, same goes for other airports, like Tipella. <Launch.Addon> <Name>Objectflow_KBVS</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_AA_KBVS\Scenery\Objectflow_KBVS.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> To fix dll.xml Make a backup of dll.xml Edit dll.xml and remove all duplicated entries as quoted above, just leave the last one. (Make sure each deleted entry starts with <Launch.Addon> and ends with </Launch.Addon> Afterwards, every time you run FTX Central check dll.xml for duped entries. (Until Central is fixed). Cheers

Can't assign static IP after installing my new switch
No picture included. So I'm guessing: IP Address Conflict, Unable To Connect, or Couldn't identify or Unknown Network? Anyway, probably your manual setup is either using an already assigned IP or it is on a different net/subnet segment or your DNS's changed. Don't know your switch type/model, but: a basic switch does not assign IP addresses (No DHCP), so it must be your DSL router/modem (if so configured). For a simple fix setup: Set Your PC TCP/IP IPV4 to automatic detection. (Make sure you can access the internet) Check this in Network and sharing center -> Local Area Connection -> Local Area Connection Status -> Details. Make a snip or write down the values for: IPv4 Address. IPv4 Subnet Mask. IPv4 Default Gateway. IPv4 DNS Servers. Then goto your adapter settings and select: Use the Following IP Address: Use the same auto assigned IP address (sample: 192.168.0.100) (Later on you can change the trailing set of numbers to an unused value by your network and router, avoid 1 & 250-254) Use the same: Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS servers. Once you can join the network and navigate, you can then ping or find out the IP of other devices in your network and change yours to your liking. This is a great utility: Advanced IP Scanner.

Is it bad to disconnect DVI/VGA cables while computer is on?
RamonB replied to captain420's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcProbability is low, but disconnecting any powered peripheral can cause a spike or worst, an electrostatic discharge which could potentially fry the outlet or in unprotected boards the board itself. Specially if the system is not properly grounded and static is high. As a general rule I do: Power up Peripherals then PC. --- Power down PC, then Peripherals. If I'm messing with the PC or connections, I discharge any static and use a grounding band, Cheers.

Speed brakes?
Spoilers are modeled, (increase drag and decrease lift) How well? don't know! I'm using P3D v3.2, and they do reduce speed while descending, and deploy nicely on landing. I have them (ARM & DEPLOY) assigned to joystick buttons. (Shift + "/" & "/" ). Useful link Spoilers And Speedbrakes. Cheers.

FSLabs Spotlight and P3D v3.3.5
Hello guys I'm very interested in this product, but have one question: Can you assign spotlight single or groups to a custom gauge or panel switch; or do you have to use the popup windows? Thanks.

Short flights, GTN 750: what plane is realistic?
For short hops (100-200 nm) My current favorite is the Carenado Aero Commander 500S Shrike Retrofitted with the GTN750 and a WX Radar. + Bert's AP mod. Flown it (at 8,500 ft) to most Caribbean destinations, but plan to land in all of them. after that during winter I will ferry it to Oregon and fly north all the way to Kodiak. The Carenado Bonanza A36 (payware not the one in P3D) is also a beauty. its retrofitted with 2 GTN650's and Bert's mod. Both offer a better outside view than the twins suggested, which I also like. Cheers.

Autopilot Altitude Setting Issue on Approach
Hello Bert I applied the mod you sent me. It is now working as expected. Apparently seems like I had a bad install. Fingers crossed.

Autopilot Altitude Setting Issue on Approach
Hello Bert Nope, it didn't work. Problem Persists. Even parked at the apron, the behavior is erratic. in fact it is probably worst as now it jumps all over the place with no logic (example from 28900 to 39100 scrolling up and then 29000 on scroll down 1 click) Perhaps I/we have a faulty download of Your mod, or installed it incorrectly. Post Edit: Just tested the CJ2 with mod and the KA350i w & wo mod and alt select works fine on those. Will send PM. Cheers.

Autopilot Altitude Setting Issue on Approach
Hello Bert I also use the mouse wheel, and have payed FSUIPC version, bot nothing assigned to it. This problem is erratic and happens with old and brand new gaming mouse.

Autopilot Altitude Setting Issue on Approach
I do, not only on approach but all phases of flight. Seems like a bug in the AP code. Sometime it even changes to 10,000 ft. per scroll. Sometimes I can get it back to normal when I press the Uppercase Key. ie. Normal 100 - 1000 increments. Cheers.

Win 10 Aniversary Update (lost most cores) -> Found Solution
Apparently this is a rare occurrence (Win7 & Wind 10), but, it does not hurt to check. I Installed the Windows 10 upgrade and anniversary update on 1 of my computers. This one is an older one (i7 950) not used for Flight Sim, but for charts and other tasks while flying. The i7 950 is a 4 core (8 logical) processor, mine is HT enabled and after the update I lost 7 processors, so my CPU usage was 100% all the time. I was about to roll back to Windows 7, but checked some stuff and CPU-Z was reporting only 1 active core. ????? 1. Device Manager showed the 8 logical processors. 2. Windows 10 reported and used only one processor in Task Manage -> Performance -> Graph (Logical Processors option was Disabled) 3. MSConfig showed only 1 processor P0 in Boot -> Advanced Options. 4. Processor Affinity was only showing CPU 0. Found Solution here: HOWTO: Get Windows 7 to detect your new multi-core processor. (It states Windows 7 but worked fine with Windows 10) Basically what the document says is: 1. Uncheck Number of Processors in MsConfig -> Boot -> Advanced options. 2. Download EasyBCD for Window 10. (BTW this is Great Dual Boot Utility) 3. Run EasyBCD -> Advanced Settings -> Developer and -> Check Windows CPU/core Limit, making sure it is 0 -> Save Settings 4. Reboot. You should then be able to show all CPU logical processors in Task Manager -> Performance.and in MSConfig -> Boot -> Advanced Options. Also CPU-Z will report correctly. So: Make sure You have all your processors running. Note: This is not the same as parking processors. Hope this helps someone. Cheers.

What frustrates you the most about today's flight sims?
PIA's Scenery addon incompatibility and lack of developer answers. Popping scenery, autogen, floating buildings+runways, etc. High End Aircraft freezing or causing CTD's As for performance. I'm afraid I wont be around by the time they sell home supercomputers to handle all we can add to the Simulators, so have no mayor complains; as long as I keep sliders at bay P3D runs smooth as silk.

Steam Gauges vs Glass Cockpits Poll (Official)
Voted Glass just to raise its percentage, but like both. IMHO in reality there should be another option; something like: To each its own. Some planes were designed with steam gauges, some with glass panels, some came with a mix and some older planes have been retrofitted with one or more glass components. And all have their advantages. Cheers
