Regarding customized ATC apps we are living in a luxury time right now, so many choices.

Not really for VFR users 😉

Except the MSFS Default one and SayIntentions (not to mention live networks like IVAO, VATSIM, PilotEdge), there aren't many choices available today for VFR addicts.

And now you know why I still use P3Dv5. Given 95% of my flights are IFR it remains the sim of my choice for obvious reasons. Perhaps all of you could have a whip-round for the SI author and buy h

In my experience SI works fine. I'm waiting for the traffic evolution.

BATC is very good too on the functional side, but I can't use it as it eats RAM like a fat kid at Dunkin Donuts, ending in both BATC and MSFS crashing due to filled-up virtual memory.

That's odd, I don't experience that and we have similar hardware. Have you reported it?

Ive used it for about 3 or 4 months now.  Its getting better.  Sometimes it works great, sometimes not so much so.

Ive done flights where its taken me off the STAR and given me perfect vectors onto the ils.

Ive done other flights where its left me too high, ive done flights where ive had to tell it 3 or 4 times i wanted to do certain approach to a certain runway and its got confused,  all in all id give it 7 1/2 out of 10

I did so a while ago on their Discord.

So I'm doing a the SayIntentions free trial again, and my head flight attendant just advertised that the Say Intentions crew will be at FSExpo during her welcome announcement

So I did a handful of IFR flights with the 24 hour trial, and the voices are nice it got me where I needed to go, but vectoring needs work.

Still not a fan of monthly payments so I'll stick with BATC.

Have you tried again since then? The last report of too much ram usage on Discord that I could find was about half a year ago (searching for "ram usage" on Discord).

Also you should set virtual memory to be auto managed by Windows, so it just increases the swap file on the go if needed. This will prevent any RAM-related crash with MSFS.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

My BTAC is using 800MB of RAM right now with 17 aircraft injected (I assume that would use more memory idk). Not really a lot.

Max ram usage in the worst possible situation would be 2GB according to the developers. In most situations it should be below 1GB actually (I've had 570MB yesterday going into Lisbon).

Then there was definitely some weird voodoo sorcery going on my setup because last time I launched it, it grew over 7GB of RAM occupation before I cut it off...

Are you still talking BATC or SI?

I'm a sales/marketing person and while I have issues with some of the tactics and practices, Brian is an excellent marketer.

I’ve been using SI since almost the beginning.  While they’ve continued to add features (ground ops, copilot, cabin crew), I would consider the core atc program itself as inconsistent.  Sometimes it works well, other times it completely misses the mark.  The problem is you never know which version (the good or the bad) you’re going to get on each flight.  I’m hopeful that all the work going into traffic injection is going to result in a more consistent end product.

I never tried the ground ops as I use GSX.
