That's not good ... ... it sounds like a hardware issue?  That would explain the loud buzz and then the PC rebooting.

Don't understand why all other software/games are all working as usual!

Signed up for game pass and installed.  Crashed as before.

The only thing I did before is I had two cloud sources and I didn't think I needed two, so I cancelled iCloud which is Microsoft.  I then thought that it was shutting down because it couldn't stream the data from the Microsoft cloud.  So I resubscribed to iCloud.  Still crashes.

Tried with default 172 with empty Community folder and different locations.  Same every time - press fly now and instant PC reboot.

Are there any useful errors in the Windows Event Logs (Applications & System) that might provide a clue?

To be honest, I would be head scratching looking in there!  I'll take a peek.

Seems like MrBitstFlyer has cut into my post with a totally unrelated problem.

Further info on my problem.  After the reinstall with Game Pass all folders after the Limitless folder are empty.  No Community folder at all.

This is a super long shot but just two days ago I got the loud buzz when I was trying to assign BATC to the AMD GPU on the motherboard.  I enabled it, which wasn't previously enabled, rebooted, and while BATC did not end up accessing the AMD GPU I got the loud buzz, but no reboot/crash.  re-disabled AMD GPU and all's well again.  I'm using 2020 only now and finally, just yesterday, installed 2024.  When I got it installed and got to the free flight screen, put in KDEN in the Longitude, but when I hit Fly it never progressed and just stuck with the top down view of KDEN.  At this point I'll park it til SU1 arrives.

Hi, I have been meaning to create a new thread on this issue for some time, and I created it here: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/663938-how-msfs-2024-stressed-my-computer-and-found-ram-issues/

In a nutshell, your other games and Windows may run fine, but MSFS will stress your computer out like no other game will. In my case, MSFS 2024 unearthed RAM issues that even MemTest was unable to detect.  Please read the thread I posted above.

What does your event log say?

Hello,
I think that the folders are not created until you first run MSFS 2024, certainly the Community folder is created by MSFS 2024 and most of the rest are configuration files and local caches, that the game will create to suit your installation.

It seemed to me there were similarities to what we were experiencing, so I thought any info from others may be useful to both of us.

Thanks for the info.

Before I read this I used DDU to remove all traces of the NVidia app and 572.16 driver.  I installed a fresh NVidia app, 566.36 driver and MSFS2024 non beta then it opened ok - so relieved!

I'll update to the 572.16 driver, if all ok I'll reinstate the community folder.

I so hate fiddling with drivers and hardware - MSFS 2024 was perfectly fine and something goes corrupt out the blue!

Yours is different in that mine won't even install.  Wish you luck with yours.

I read it wouldn't load past the splash screen, so I assumed it had installed. Rather than a new thread I thought it relevant to share thoughts on a similar issue.

Good luck fixing it because it is so frustrating not being able to get into the sim!
