August 27, 20241 yr I've read some posts that V5.4 has some xml coding issues https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/xmltools64-c-simvars-problem-in-p3dv5-4.457499/ What would have to be done if one wanted to revert from 5.4 to 5.3? I found this video interesting. Edited August 27, 20241 yr by Butch1
August 27, 20241 yr I use v5.4 with no problems whatsoever. My question would be why bother reverting backwards? Adam is a solid guy that puts in tons of free time to help the community on his discord but I don't use a lot of his tweaks and don't bother reading too much into many of the videos even if all he is trying to do is help....If it ain't broke....??? system i9 10850K NVidia RTX3090 24GB Samsung SSD980 m.2 1TB (x2) Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD Seagate 2TB external drive Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB SSD Asus B460M-PLUS Mobo 32GB GSkill DDR4 3000mhz Ram using P3D v5.3
August 27, 20241 yr I'm a new p3d user starting with fresh install of 5.4 no previous p3d on pc only fsx and msfs. It has stunned me with stability so far. Only one ctd on first flight 60 fps ultra settings mostly. Only poorly coded airports like ybbn orbx slow it down to 30. I haven't used the other sims since I seem to have picked the right version to start with. Russell Gough SE London

I have read up on that app. Don't need it yet as I get 60 locked except for one addon but if I squeeze more ai out of sim I might do so! August 27, 20241 yr ahhh default....well, the more you add for eye candy (ie true earth etc) the more the fps will drop...not sure what regions you typically fly in and out of but if you are located in London, you will be able to use either UK2000 EGLL or Simwings version full ai with no trouble...without lossless scaling...not a chance. system i9 10850K NVidia RTX3090 24GB Samsung SSD980 m.2 1TB (x2) Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD Seagate 2TB external drive Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB SSD Asus B460M-PLUS Mobo 32GB GSkill DDR4 3000mhz Ram using P3D v5.3

August 27, 20241 yr Moderator For me v5.4 was a real pain. Random freezes around the planet that only started with v5.4. I suspect it was some AIG BGL files as the problem disappeared once Ai was set to zero. Looking at the changes in v5.4 many changes were made to flight plans. Impossible to find the files responsible. Easier to revert to v5.3HF2 which has remained rock solid. Ray (Cheshire, England). August 28, 20241 yr There were 3 factors that made me decide not to update to v5.4 from v5.3 HF2. They were:- a) someone reported black textures using FlyTampa's EHAM scenery and I never did see any follow up or resolution to this b) the Job Scheduler functions were locked down more in v5.4 c) the v5.4 update didnt really offer anything substantially new for me. August 28, 20241 yr If I can plug for 5.4 the greatest improvement for me (and it’s a big one) is the elevation fix in several addon airports such as FSDT KMEM. In previous versions of V5 the aircraft wheels would float about two inches above the pavement in a few FSDT airports. Edited August 28, 20241 yr by Patco Lch Vic green

When I saw that the wheels were now touching the ground, I wondered if FSDT fixed it or P3DV5.4 🙂 Edited August 28, 20241 yr by Butch1

With previous versions, you have the process affinity mask and that's it. Cheers Luke Kolin I make simFDR, the most advanced flight data recorder for FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane.

I have a Job Scheduler that can assign the P3D main thread, the terrain (Renderthreadscheduler) threads and Frameworkerthreadscheduler to different cores in P3Dv5.3. If i am not mistaken, in v5.3 you could assign the P3D main thread to any core (whatever is your fastest core for your CPU) but in P3Dv5.4 I thought it was locked to core 0 (so I read), but I stand to be corrected as I never did install v5.4 If that's not the case, that would be one less obstacle in moving to v5.4.
