that will be a bunch of BS; if developers want to charge us again, things seem still a bit vague!!

I predict 99% of addons will work on MSFS 2024 out of the box. Marketplace purchases will be transferable and addons purchased elsewhere can have their folders moved to the Community folder of the new simulator. It doesn't give much room for a greedy dev to charge for it.

well let's be practical here.. trailers goes out and internet goes in RAGE against them because how they dare to create a new product.. then, they release a FAQ quickly in hours!!.. addressing the most pressing issue everyone raised.. however people continue at rage because it can't be truth..

What do you actually want them to do right now? tell me? because everyone is just in a state of mind so furious and full of HATE that nothing they will say will change anybody minds.. forget about who fault is it, people can do PR mistakes, everyone has done them.. I have done lots!. now, what do you think physiologically is the best course of action? go online and receive all the HATE (pure hate, you should see the rude comments I have read!, absolutely disgusting, nobody deserve comments like that) or wait until everyone calms down, and then address the public?

Yes they should have been more forthcoming and understanding, but so did WE!, why nobody see their side of the coin? do you guys reilase what just happened, what we all did as a community? we could have asked politely, the community should have been more constructive! nobody deserve hate comments, or threats.. internet is becoming a platform where everyone believes they can say anything they like with no consequences, this is not the case.. people behind the screen have feelings, and any hurtful comments are received by a human, who will be hurt by hurful comments directed at them.

Have the community reacted in a more positive way, you would have a more positive approach.. Microsoft, Asobo, etc. doesn't own you, me or anyone anything.. they are doing this job trying to please you, and the community just slapped them on the face incredible hard and here we are discussing why they are not coming with answers right now!

They are in shock!!.. and how they could not? are we all forgetting what is like to be human? really? I think is time for everyone to take a deep breath, reflect and give MS time to come back at and explain with words the plan, at the moment they are probably trying to recover from the blast and knockout they just received from everybody.

You don;t yell at someone you want to be closer to you in order to get answers, and yet this is exactly what everyone did.. and now they are surprised not direct response has come from anybody at Microsoft 24 hours later.. treat others how you want to be treated..

Most likely not. Most developers are already announcing that upgrades will be free. Flightbeam just released a statement, others have as well. Unless PMDG or some other developer explicitly says "No, you will need to buy it again", I would assume it's going to be a free upgrade. 

I suspect we'll have clarity on this very soon - any developer that doesnt' make it clear that upgrades are free risks having sales tank. It's the Osborne Effect all over again. So it makes most commercial sense for a developer to promise (at the very least) that any addons you already bought, or will buy soon will get upgraded free of charge.

thats exactly it Greedy Developers,  I have a funny feeling that they will charge us again, if that happens I will just stay with FS 2020

And this where people are not putting thoughts in favor of fear. Let me play this for you, anybody that bought any PMDG product via MP will be able to use it on MS2024 at not cost by rule of Microsoft.

If PMDG decides to charge, it cannot do so for any MP purchase or would probably face MS kicking them out of the MP program. Now tell me why would PMDG do such a suicidal move? Microsoft protecting everyone interests with their statement and yet we are so blinded by fear and hate that cannot see past that..

- the team felt there were enough improvements to warrant a new release
- tornado in the trailer is not canned, happens due to simulated weather and atmopshere
- advances in graphics, weather, flight dynamics (so as suspected,  this is way more than just missions)

I really can't wait for Asobo to give some good detailed previews and deep dives on all the advancements!

If the software is on my PC and it works when I drop it in the 2024 community folder...............Why do I have to pay the dev again?

MS has said - addons will work.

It is like Win 95 upgrade to Win 98 (or like iOS upgrades each year).  You get new features on top of what you have already...hence the name change.  The graphics look even sharper and smoother.

Again, the FAQ said - what you have for MSFS2020 should work in MSFS2024...nothing to see here business as usual.  After 4 years from MSFS2024...expect MSFS2028.

Instead of being happy, we have people imagining end of the world in flightsim etc.  Devs have to make money.  This isn't a charity or open source.  It is capitalism after all.

I've only been simming for about 5-ish years now. Been through P3D 4.5 and 5.x, X-Plane 11 to X-Plane 12, DCS World 2.x to 2.8, and even a couple addons in FSXSE that don't exist anywhere else.

I haven't yet experienced a case of a dev charging me again unless there was a decent reason for it. And even everyone's favorite whipping boy, PMDG, gave me full credit for the MSFS 737 when I bought the P3D NGXu (and I even still have a few shekels store credit left over for the 777).

In my experience, and across many, many purchases, it's mostly been free updates, or a nominal $5 or $10 upgrade fee. And in those cases, there were always plainly evident feature upGRADES to go with the version upDATES.

There are some definite jerks in the development community, e.g., i'm REALLY not a fan of iniBuilds' "exit" from X-Plane, but they are beginning to make some amends.

All in all, I'm very impressed at the ongoing support and the ever-increasing quality/fidelity of the addon devs that I purchase from.
