Bonanza Turbo V3 RELEASED

Featured Replies

The latest Asobo update changed some things that in turn required changes to the WT G1000, which cause the custom engine displays on the MFD to no longer load.  So you get the stock display instead of the custom version, and no 'leaning' and 'system' pages.

It's a little bit of a regression but not the end of the world.

There is a new G1000 update. I've just checked and the Bonanza now displays the "Lean" and "System" pages.

BTW, is it normal that the plane veers off VERY easily? And for takeoff I sometime need toi apply FULL ruder.

I have the same problem, adjusting sensitivity helps somewhat, but many people claim they have NEVER run off the runway. I wonder if they are gas-lighting us, but I give them the benefit of the doubt regardless. I don't ever really have to apply full rudder (not even on the ground either), but I have to use rudder too much and it's too sensitive.

I have the same issues (but more so with ground controls), I have tried hundreds of settings and it has not completely solved the issue, some settings are slightly better than others. I don't know if it's just our rudder control (I am using a joystick, so that doesn't help probably). Maybe a real rudder pedal works better with a dead zone than a twist joystick rudder.

Rudder control has been jacked up since day one.. Better off turning on takeoff assistance/rudder assistance. Forget what it's called.  Without it rudders have hair trigger sensitivity no matter what you do causing rudder input to go from 0-100 in a fraction of a hair of input..

Like a lot of aircraft in the sim, it does not like neutral or nose down trim in the take-off roll (The JF Arrow is worse and the early iterations of the jabiru were also pretty awful) .  If you dial in some nose up trim before rolling it is still twitchy but more controllable.

Originally for this mod we were supposed to exercise all the flight controls before takeoff (in other words fully deflect them).  I'm not sure if that's still required.

I also think it helps to have "Reactivity" dialed all the way down to zero in your rudder control settings.

The problem is there are so many different combos I lost track of what is affecting what in my mind so to speak. OK, so I'm going to try that, here are my full settings, I'll let you know how these settings work. If still issues, maybe there are additional things to try...

Sensitivity - (-50%), Sensitivity + (-50%)
Dead Zone 25%
Neutral 0%
Extremity Dead Zone 25%
Reactivity 0%

Reactivity introduces a deliberate lag in the response of the aircraft to your control movements.

I think the intent is to make the controls feel more "natural", you move the controls and then a fraction of a second later things happen.

Yah I think 0 is a safe bet on that one, given I already have some lag probably from the USB and my projector's 40ms response time.

I had forgot about this as I always exercise every axis on the yoke, rudders and toe brakes to their full extent when I first enter any aircraft. It may be some of the control problems people have and thank you for bringing it back up to remind everyone to do so.

I always do the same for all my aircraft before engine startup...just incase. You're basically forcing your controls to self calibrate when you do this. Before USB controls you would normally have to make sure that your controls were calibrated within the Windows game controller applet before you even started your game 🙂

Is this mod still working and is it still being supported?

It still works as far as I can tell. Though I tend to fly the JF Turbo Arrow more these days, I mainly use the Normalised Bonanza if I really need that extra 10 or 20 knots to keep up in a multiplayer live stream or something and want to stick with a piston single.  I think it might still be the fastest piston single in the game. Not sure.

The original dev has health issues which have apparently got worse recently so support may be hit and miss.  ( Rob said at the time of release that he was releasing it as freeware rather than developing the more sophisticated bespoke payware version he is certainly capable of because he could no longer guarantee the level of support that payware entails)

It is freeware, so just install and see if it works for you in your game.   If it works, then bonus and support is irrelevant, if it falls over just uninstall it, nothing is lost.
