@Nyxx David, you inspired me to take her up for some circuits and bumps...

That runway looks a bit short for the G36! 😁  Hope you made it without damaging the new paint!

Loving the reflections on the retro livery.  The reflections look amazing in MSFS.  I even saw a reflection of a reflection the other day - I never knew that was possible without ray tracing.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

TFFB Baillif has a 2000ft runway so landing was not a problem. The take off wasn't that hard either, but IRL is cutting it close.

It is an optical illusion, Apparently the runway slopes up more than 50 feet so looks shorter than it really is.  Landing on 32 and taking off on 14 are prohibited for that reason. Night VFR is Verboten.  They also pretty much close the runway with more than 10 knots downwind.

Ah!  Thanks.  More of an optical illusion then, that would explain it. 👍

Sloped runways look short and also trick you into thinking you are too high  😄

I am curious about the fuel useage on this bird. I typically see 13 ish, rich of peak in cruise at 25", 2400. Lets say around 10500, but doesn't really matter. Anything I can read shows 15ish GPH in cruise. Also, the non turbo bo improvement has it around 15gph. So what are the Turbo Bos fuel numbers based on?

The manual has the mixture/fuel burn settings documented.

Anyone tried to land this bird in a severe crosswind?  First of all I'm not real world pilot and my crosswind landings are probably really shabby so lets get that out the way first!  I'm currently doing a UK tour starting in Shetland and working my way south.  I've just "landed" in Wick which is North east Scotland with a crosswind of 18G32kt.  My technique is crab into the wind, opposite rudder and when I land Aileron into the wind.  Trouble is as soon as I land I have zero rudder control and weathervane into the wind and go skidding off the runway.  Now I know the ground effect in MSFS is pretty exaggerated.  I'm wondering is this my technique, is there something in the mod or is this the sim itself?  Or possibly all 3?  🙂

I'd say the sim.  It's got some serious issues.

The sim GROSSLY exaggerates the effect of crosswinds.

AND SO MANY OTHER AERODYNAMIC effects... more is NOT ALWAYS BETTER.

Right, and the burn in the airplane is not what is stated in the manual... it is low in this airplane, but about right in the Improvement project model. I was just wondering where Robert got his fuel flow numbers from and if there was a reason for it being on the low side.

As for the crosswind comment, oh yeah... taking off is also impossible in a crosswind. As soon as the nose lifts you are out of control.

I believe the demonstrated crosswind for the Bonanza is only 17kts, just something to keep in mind.

But I agree, the sim grossly overstates the effect of crosswind on the ground.

Even if you crab and decrab nicely just before touchdown, after touchdown it's like there is some giant Star Trek invisible hand shoving you off the runway.

Yea I know I was pushing it at 18G32 but your right, as soon as you land it’s like the force takes me off the runway....bit disappointing hopefully Asobo are looking at this.  I’ve not seen many threads grumble about this oddly enough...it’s supposed to be a flight simulator and crosswinds are every day occurrence!
