PrecipitFX Support

Not sure if this was covered before but why is this happening? Running latest version of P3Dv2. If I uninstall Pfx this problem go's away. I should add that this seems to happen only on the F22

I would like tor restore my FSX from a previous backup because I am unhappy with aspects of this product. Attempting to uninstall contrails from the NGX resulted in having both default and PrecipitFX contrails shown simultaneously. Since it is not in the documentation, I would like to know what on my system was changed by this program.

is it possible to have precipitfx to have the same effects as 777 immersions some day?

I just installed these textures in p3d,in the rain its like a light tunnel,you cant stand to look at it

Have a VERY interesting problem. Had FSX Steam installed last night. Removed it placed Normal FSX removed that and reinstalled FSX Steam. I know sounds batty! But i wanted to test some items with the non steam version etc. Anyways Just finished installing FSX Steam and now i cannot install PrecipitFX. Prior to me going on a tangent unstalling and reinstalling stuff PrecipitFX was installed and working fine. Now it says i don't have FSX installed.. Weird.. Advice please./

hey Today after purchasing precipit fx...as i was testing it during the take off roll in rain...i noticed huge fps drops of around 15-20 due to wheel rain and jet blast!! I was totally dissapointed..it was told that this product is fps friendly with no fps loss but seeing this...i really feel sad.. I usually get constant 30 fps....at all places except heavy airports...this time i was testing at cardiff.. I spent money thinking to get nice effects but this is not what i wanted....any developer please look in to this..i have checked this with posky 777 300, tom ruth A330 etc:... Just a few quick questions, I have a contrails program for FSX which I enjoy very much when flying on VATSIM because it makes spotting other aircraft more realistic. I do not have this capability currently in P3D when flying on VATSIM so I'm looking for something to update this capability in both FSX and P3D and maybe this is it? 1. Will PrecipitFX fix the dual contrail (offset contrail) problems associated in either FSX or P3D? 2. Will PrecipitFX prevent the "smoke trail" down below your aircraft nusiance? 2. Will PrecipitFX work on both multiplayer and AI aircraft? 3. Is there a manual or PDF that can be looked at so one can decipher what can be configur…

Can I use this with Rex 4 - Texture Direct or will each program be over-writing each other? I have heard that this solves the "circular" rain effect that we see now? Thanks, Rick

Just bought PrecipitFX and looking forward to try it out when I get home today! One question, I'm running FSX in DX10 mode using Steve's DX10 Scenery Fixer and reading through the documentation that came with PrecipitFX it says the product is fully DX10 compatible with Steve's Scenery Fixer but are there any recommended settings in the DX10 SF I should be aware of when it comes to effects? Looking at the effects option in DX10 SF for instance it has a setting called 'Exclude Particle Effects' which is by default checked. I guess it might be a good idea to uncheck this option with PrecipitFX installed to get all effects showing up correctly...?

Is your website having issues? I just purchased thru SimMarket (Order 1244745) but seem to have no download link on theri site even though it shows as delivered. Then read that I have to register on your site to get the download????????? ANyway tried to register but your site seems to only work on Chrome and even then it wouldn't accept my mail address with strange message "email address is NOT invalid". Hello, I recently bought FSFX PrecipitFX and it's really great. I've just a little question: Does PrecipitFX also change anything on the runway textures of standard airports or only the effects? It seems to me that my "snowy-runway" texture is new - but that may be a misinterpretation due to the fact that it's quite some time since I've seen a standard rwy texture the last time. It seems like the contrails are causing an FPS issue. I've been using the product with no issue (granted I have not seen the rain or snow effects), and have seen the contrails in a more faint rendition (like the contrails were not as prominent because the air was warmer, maybe?), however as I cross over the northern United States where the air temperature is much colder the contrails are a lot more visible and as such are causing my sim to lose a significant amount of FPS (runs at 13fps when viewing the contrail, 30 fps when not). I noticed that when I was inside of the aircraft in the VC I would have better FPS than when I was outside and the contrail effect could be…

Hi Need some help and clarification on enabling wingtip vortices for aircrafts such as PMDG since it by default disabled. Do i need to disable "vaportrail_l=" and "vaportrail_r=" on all 3 aircraft.cfgs?(-300, 200LR and 200F) seperately? Also has is there any concern where enabling these settings cause OOM's? Thanks

Hi guys I own both PFX and 777 immersion but trying to re install is giving me a wrong combination of password or ID ...please advise Pedro yes I did installed previously ...how can I reactivate my licensees? I forgot to say that I still have 2 activation left for PFX and 1 left for 777 immersion.....

Hi guys, I need some help on this one. I purchased the PrecipFX program from SimMarket, downloaded it from Old Prop Solutions (all fine so far) as per the directions; unpacked the files and ran it from the .exe file. I then got a pop-up telling me the Application couldn't be installed and to contact the vendor. I have tried the install process several times, including a second download but I have the same fail problem. I have all FSX service packs and Acceleration. How can I get around this? I contacted the developer at Zinertek but they say they haven't heard of Old Prop Solutions. There is a large Notepad-format "Details" list but that makes no sense to me as I'…

Hi, I have been using this software since it was first released and have had no issues with performance while using Steve's DX10 fixer. However, after updating the software to 1.2 via the PrecipitFX interface, I have noticed significant performance impact. I keep FSX locked at 35 and see a drop to 18 FPS once the effects take place in the sim.....on the ground and in air. If I use a 4 engine aircraft and the contrails develop, frame rates stay at a horrible 18 FPS with no deviation from 18 FPS. Yes, I did run Steve's scenery fixer after the update. I am attempting to understand why I am not getting enough cloud cover in P3D 2.4. This is not your issue. However, as test, I uninstalled PrecipitFx. That was not the wrench in the works. I re-downloaded the product from your website. Interesting to note that I still had - 1 - activation left. Thanks. Hi, I'm using PrecipitFX in Prepar3d v2.4. Rain and snow work fine. But I don't see wing tip vortices and contrails are barely visible. I just completed a flight in the Aerosoft A319 from EGLL to EDDM and the outside temperature at cruise altitude was below -30 degrees Celcius. But no vortices. Rob Ainscough posted this video on Youtube in which the vortices and contrails are clearly visible but this is not how it looks on my system. In another thread he mentioned that he had to make some adjustments to make them work. Maybe you could check with him how to fix this problem. Thanks and regards Carlo

Hey Keven - having an issue. Took a flight and I noticed that the effects were not the new ones. Took a look at the aircraft.cfg file for the /ac and altho there WAS a FSFX backup file in the folder, the effects were NOT installed in the cfg file. Manually deleted the fsfx backup file - reran FSFXP ( version .13) and selected rescan. After scan completed - there was no backup in the folder and there were no mods to the aircraft.cfg file. P3D24 - win7 - p3d installed in F:\P3D2 - FSX NOT installed. SOME of the a/c have the effects installed and some don't. Don't know why. Does FSFXp keep an internal table of modified files? hi there, I just ran the installer on my computer which I don't have the SIM installed on, thought I'll use it with WideFS, but found out to be a stupid idea any way, how do I uninstall the program from that computer and deactivate the Activation that took place on that machine, returning it back to my activation pool? BTW - two activation is really ridicules, but that is a different discussion all together.

Great product guys! Just bought it and I'm loving it! Just one thing I have noticed. The contrail seems rather short and from tower view you can barely see it. Hi, I have a home cockpit and so what is happening at the wing tips and wheels is not really of interest, not meant as a criticism in anyway ^_^ However an improvement in the depiction of precipitation is interesting and long overdue. As you know, the rain in P3D looks like a million white arrows falling from the sky and the snow flakes are the size of tennis balls! There is a tweak for the rain in P3D which makes some improvement. My questions/suggestions are: Is it possible to make the rain realistic i.e. when it rains in reality, you cannot really see the rain drops falling unless the rain is torrential or it is lit by a light source at night.
