C340 II HD Series FSX | P3D

  1. Started by Bert Pieke,

If you are installing your own radios, you need to turn off the existing3d radio knobs. Thankfully, Carenado has provided this option (shift-3 anddeselect the 3d knobs). If you want this setting to be the default for this aircraft, you can add a littlegauge that sets it for you.1. Create a subfolder to your panel folder (or your panel.XX folder if you have createdyour own - I typically create a panel.530 folder as an example). Call this new folder "Controls".2. Create a text file with Notepad and copy the following text <Gauge Name="Control_init" Version="1.0"><!-- No 3d Knobs --> <Element> <Select> <Value> (L:Init,bo…

Hi all. We hope you are enjoying our C340 II FSXWe have been following some topics about the C340 II FSX and we know there are small issues that need to be fixed. In the next days we will release a Service Pack for the aircraft correcting the issues which were wrong in the original package.Issues we have detected are in the following list. Some of them will be corrected and others need a clarification.CG issue: The aircraft was tested by several real C340 pilots. One of the main characteristics of the aircraft is the heavy nose feeling in flight especially at landing. In order to accomplish that feature, which is very characteristic of that aircraft, we made a special twea…

This seems to be one of the cleaner Carenado releases. If you happen to find any bugs, post them here. It'd be nice to keep them all in one thread if possible. So far from one quick hop I've only noticed that the yaw damper switch is backwards. The hunt goes on though!

Lets make this a new topic. The panel.cfg change is not hard, and thanks to Carenado, it fits!I typically make a new panel folder (copy of the original) and name it panel.530Open the panel.cfg file with Notepad and make the following changes //--------------------------------------------------------[Vcockpit03]...gauge00=rxpGNS!GNS530, 2,162,318,229gauge01=rxpGNS!plate, 2,392,318,110 Then open the aircraft.cfg file and choose a Variation that you wantthe 530 to show up in, and set panel=530 for that variation. ..and to my (happy) surprise, Carenado has made the lightmap changesimple also.Go to the texture.common folder and copy the panel_C340_3_night.bmp fileto the texture…

I just got this C340, installed it and got it all set up and working great for practicing instrument approaches. It had three little buttons on the left with "A", "C" and "O". "A" would pop up an autopilot window, which was quite handy so I don't have to look down to access the autopilot. I was doing this with the monitor in "Full Screen Simulator" mode across dual monitors. All was well until I installed two bigger monitors, and then these buttons disappeared and I cannot get them back. Literally all I did was unplug the old monitors and plug in the new ones. If I switch to "Windowed Simulator" then these buttons are back, but in Full Screen Simulator they do not ap…

Many are moving on to MFS 2020. Meanwhile I'm still wringing the best FSX can give with my PC. Taking advantage of the Carenado and Orbx sales. Started flying this 340 II RamAir since I got the nagging dome light off while retaining the gauge lighting and Bernt Stolle's mods the C340 is comparable to the RealAir Duke(s). However, I use the F1 GTN 750/650 stack on 2nd monitor. So I have the stock 430's and the old WX Radar blacked out. Try as I might I cant get the GTN 650 squeezed in to the 430 spots. I'd like to use this spots for Avidyne or something. I did manage to replace the Radar ALT with the stock Autopilot.

This airplane was a fairly early Carenado release and has had its share of mods and updates over the years. I decided to take a look and found a lot of potential in this older simulation. Here is a summary. 1. The mod emulates the 335 HP RAM Series VI. http://www.ramaircraft.com/Aircraft-Engine-Upgrade-Packages/Performance/340A-Performance/SM038C4-340A-Performance.htm It includes RAM MP gauges, Tachometers, and of course, the eye-popping RAM performance. 2. The pressurization is fixed. It now initializes at field elevation + approx. 500 feet instead of 24,000 feet. 3. The Hall Reduced Thrust Detection system has been reworked to operat…

  10. Very good YouTube ride-a-long flight video from "310 Pilot" (Kevin) highlighting differences between his Cessna 310 twin and the pressurized Cessna 340 turbo twin. There is an especially good segment on cabin pressurization from approximately 8 minutes to about 12 minutes in; a good description of the differences in efficiency at various altitudes between a turbo like the 340 and turbine based aircraft models (TBM was mentioned); and a demonstration of use of asymmetrical power during a crosswind landing near the end of the video. Click on the link, not the photo, to watch the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Lvv8UNRkeA

I've been trying to get the real performance of the RAM VII engines into the Carenado C340, I used Mark Ritzman mods as a guideline. But I really appreciate the input from you guys. So far I've accomplished to get the aircraft to cruise at 230 kts @23,000 ft and 20.3 GPH per engine. Also managed to get thrust to go from 0-100 mph in 15 seconds on ground with full rich mixture as the ram performance table shows. But I still feel it climbs out to fast at 52 GPH I get 2000 ft/min and 130 kts IAS. Any input on this mods would be greatly apprreciated. http://www.ramaircraft.com/Aircraft-Engine-Upgrade-Packages/Performance/340A-Series-VII-Performance/SM039C4-340A-Series-…

Is anyone having issues with the autopilot? I can't get the vertical speed buttons to affect the climb rate with the AP engaged. It defaults to 1500 fpm, and no matter how long I hold down the buttons to decrease the climb, nothing happens. I just hand fly to altitude and then engage, but that's kind of a pain on a long flight to the flight levels.... Anyone?

  14. Started by mikebxb,

Been struggling with cockpit improvement on the 340. If you don't like the AP you can create a popup window and put the stock FSX beech baron radio popup in there. I run it and GTN750 on second monitor ( along with windowed avidyne) Still seeing 60 FPS and everything works. I ditched the garmin 530 one and moved the garmin 530 2 up in its place. Then I put the C340 autopilot where the garmin 530 2 was. It's of course oversized but at least if you want to use the stock C340 AP its higher on the panel.

Hi! I understand that this aircraft doesn't have an "ALT HOLD" function in the traditional sense. Use the rocker switch to control VS and then hit the ALT button to hold the altitude. The question I have, is can the auto pilot fly a glideslope? I see where it SHOWS the glideslope, but can it FLY one? If so, how do I tell it to do so? Here's how it happens for me... I'm established at a proper angle to intercept the ILS with the alt hold enabled and HDG on the AP. All is well. I get close and see the needle goes active, so I hot the APR button. The HDG light goes off and the plane banks to intercept the localizer. FIRST PROBLEM, when I hot the APR butto…

  16. I often wonder how close to the numbers these things are. I have a video of a c340 landing from inside the cockpit so I thought I should compare. Is the Carenado C340 realistic? You be the judge. Looks good to me though. Although I do notice it's not PERFECT. However we all know you cant get a perfect comparison. I dont know his weight loading and I can only aproximate the weather not having his METAR or ATIS. I got the temperature as close as I could. Approach... 22.5" MP, 2300 RPM, 1 Notch Flaps, Gear up, 3000 feet = 140 KIAS and 700fpm. Here at 18" - 19" MP and 2200 RPM, Gear Down, 2 Stage Flaps = 115 KIAS and 600 fpm Going to 300 fe…

Hello, two questions I have about this craft. 1. I see no option to preset altitude similar to that in most other aircraft of the type. There's usually a window where you enter it and that it is notifying you on 1000 to go. 2. How do I automatically track the plan? I see no NAV/GPS hold function but the HDG hold. please advise.

Hello all. I just purchased the 340 (my seventh or so Carenado product) and as usual,am totally in love with it. I have an issue with the Kohlsman (sp?) knob for the pressure setting on the altimeter though...when the FSX environment is 29.92, and you hit "B", the setting goes to 29.91. It seems that the pressure settings are off by one digit...ie, if ATC tells you altimeter setting is 29.95, the C340 altimeter needs to be set to 29.94- and indeed, if you hit "B", it goes to 29.94. Any ideas here?

I used your installation setting from the 530 install topic and have a couple questions. I still see a popup window on the 530 and slightly below it on the panel. I tried removing all lines associated with popups and it doesn't make a difference. Any help would be appreciated. I can post a picture and panel.cfg if necessary. Thanks, John

Hi all I've tried to run the C340 installer and get a message that there is no FSX installation. This is correct as I've uninstalled FSX. However, I have a 'dummy' FSX.exe in the p3d root What is the current process to install aircraft into p3d? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
