After having this aircraft for some time, I'm finally starting to spend some serious hours with this light twin. I have done periodic flights with it, but just by chance, usually in warm weather. I recently conducted some flights around my area in Canada and with the REX+Overdrive weather engine injecting real time weather I can honestly say things have been rather "cold" to say the least. -20C temps on the ground and below -30C up at altitude. During my flights, I have been experiencing complete eventual power loss. With the cold temps and presence of cloud, I knew this was an engine icing condition. Having flown many fuel injected engines in the real world, I found …

Carenado has, within the last couple of weeks, produced a C340 II for X-Plane. While I have flown FSX and its previous versions since back in the early 90s and others before that, I have just about exclusively moved over to X-Plane because of their efforts to continually improve the experience. Many of the posts here ask about things that apparently are FSX problems (like CTDs which don't occur with X-Plane 64bit) and it appears to me that the X-Plane environment has corrected these problems. I still go back, occasionally, to FSX and it has served me well for many years so I don't mean to be talking it down - just stating a fact. In fact, I fly Flight and P3D so…

Hi All, If anyone has them, I'd like to get a copy of the aircraft.cfg "General Engine Data" and the "Piston Engine" sections from the original 1974 engine in the Carenado C340 that the RAM Conversion mod by Ritz55 corrected. I can't find them from Cessna nor are they in any of the current installation files from Carenado. I guess Carenado incorporated them into the 340's aircraft.cfg as part of an update. Yesterday, I compared my C340 aircraft.cfg file to the same specs in a new installation of the C340. I hoped to obtain them that way instead of pestering anyone on AVSIM, but I had no luck. The specs in "new" and "old" data sections are identical. I'd g…

I have seen a number of posts and queries about the C340A and its fuel system, fuel burn. In time I may post some diagrams of the fuel system from the aircraft POH, and Maintenance Manual. For now I contribute the following to help the forum users. I'm a real world commercially rated multi-engine pilot with over 750 hours in C340A's specifically and other Cessna twins including C310s (got my multi-engine rating in a C-310Q model), C340As, C401s, C414, C421B, and C441 Conquest II. To clarify the Carenado C340 is according to their tech support, is a 1974 C340A II (with the I, II, and III designation of different levels of Cessna factory avionics packages: Na…

Hi all, Something similar has likely been talked about elsewhere in another aircraft's specific forum, but if so I haven't located it yet. Got a weird problem in my C340. As it got dark outside, my digital fuel flow gauge and the GPS screens went black on me. They're still running, I just can't see them; com frequencies still switch as normal, at least by clicking on the ATC pop-ups. And the Shift1 pop-up still brings up the 2D GPS, but since the AP doesn't seem to "tune" to that GPS, it's basically a glorified map. Also, (and ultimately more of an issue), when I turn on the main panel lights, my textures go all transparent! Just a bunch of knobs hanging in sp…

Anyone know the FSPassengers rank of this plane? Is it a C3, C4 so on. If I knew what empty weight Carenado put in the model I could look it up myself. Thanks

This looks cool. Offering some insight into the flying and proceedures of the C340 II. It's only about 15 bucks! At the end of the video they have several online places you can download it.

Ya. I know the POH performance charts are perfect day, perfect pilot. New plane ect but this model won't get near the numbers. Example, 20,000 feet. 2450 rpm, 28 inches MP should net 190 to 200 KTAS. This is confirmed by Cessna owners discussing thier planes at the Cessna ownsers association site. In the sim, I get under 160 knots KIAS and indicating about 175 ground speed on my RXP GNS 430. With no wind. Without wind, GS is TAS if I recall correctly. I guess I should bust out the old flight computer. Edit... I need to do more testing. My E6B SAYS 160 knotts indicated at -20C at 20000 FEET is 202 knots true airspeed. C.

Hello guys, I am quite happy with the Carenado C340, but I have a feeling that the FD's are not that realistic at all... does anyone if there are new, improved FD's out there?? I feel the rudder could be more effective, for example. Best regards, Markus :)

:Praying: Just begging, one more time. Anyone even tried to install in FS9? I'd be willing to buy it for FSX if so. I own nearly every Carenado plane for FS9, but I'm still waiting for this one.

Everytime I create a video and go back to review it I find that both GPS's and also the Weather Radar are turned off. This is upseting specially in the middle of a landing where you rely on this instruments and having to go back and turn them on to discover the frequencies are also lost, Anybody has gone thru this and may be willing share a solution? Thanks

Hi All. I have purchased and downloaded the C340. When i click on the .exe it asks for email and the serial code which I provide. Then I click on install and it says that it has been installed. It doesn't say to where but in SimObjects it shows the same .exe. No C340 in Airplanes of SimObjects. Any suggestions? By the way I get the same results when trying to install the Carenado PA46T. I am using FSX in Windows7. Dave

I just uploaded an update I made to the 340 which gives it 335 horsepower RAM VII engines instead of the original 285 hp engines. Carenado's model is a 1974 model with the original 285 hp TSIO-520-K engines. Since this is my very first upload, let me know if I need to change anything. You can search for it in the avsim.com file library by using RAM VII or Cessna 340.

I d/l 'd this plane & for the last few days happily parked the BEECHcraft Tonight I made several attempts from Cincinnatti to Chicago & the 340 seems to netralize itself at a 700fpm ascent. regardles of power decrease, prop or etc.. I can nose it over into a dive with reduced power & it rights itself at the 700fpm angle of ascent ??????????? Also the screens on the the radio/navaids are hit & miss with these Carenado planes... strange! I'm a Milviz 310 flyer it is excellent except for a nagging night light bug when flying in wx

I was finally beginning to really like this plane, especially after the power mod. But now a new crop of bugs is beginning: Yesterday, about midway in a flight, I tried to reduce RPM but the levers had no effect. I rechecked control assignments and everything was ok. I also tried F1 and F2 with no RPM change. Earlier I had tried to activate "Prop Sync" but no mouse clicks or wheel movement would move the switch. Anyone else having these bugs? Any info appreciated. Neal Howard

I also added my own Autopilot to be able to see the ALT and VS settings as I cant find a place in C340 for that.Maybe I am missing it.I also added the Autopilot and second set of radios to the VC much along the same lines that Bert explained in his 3D knob posting. You really dont need two GPS'e So I opted for GPS 2nd radioset and autopilot in the area where the second GPS was.Work a treat..!

This is a very nice plane but the nose is constantly wandering left and right a couple of degrees. It is the only plane that does it in the sim and I have never seen it in a real plane. The manifold pressures are balanced and RPM synchronized. Is there some mod I can make in the aircraft.cfg to stop this?Happy flyingNeal H.
