Is there a way to tell which lanclass file goes to what scenery? I have some landclass files in the FS9 scenery/base folder that does not have the name of the area or airport in the name and I don't know what the landclass file goes to.

Hi, I have a question about alpha channels of aircraft textures. I am a newbie in modeling so I need some help. I have filled my airports with WOAI traffic but I would like to give some of the aircraft at my favourite airport a shiny look. First I changed the "model=no_refl" line in the aircraft.cfg file of the AIA models in "reflective". Next I installed BMPDXT.exe. From the help file I learned that you need at least DXT3 textures and add a grey alpha channel for reflective textures. But I can't find in the help file how to do this. I assume that most textures used in the WOAI packages have base textures with a white alpha channel or none. I first tried a few thi…

Hi everyone! I'm just wondering if someone who is skilled in setting ILS alignment for airports in AFCAD's could possibly help me with an issue I have. The issue I have is at EICK (Cork, ORK, Ireland) the ILS is not aligned correctly (can send just the AFCAD if someone can help) and I'm wondering if someone could possibly reset it or edit it to align it? I have also provided the charts below for EICK. I realise this is purely a request for good nature and I will be entirely grateful, Charts: https://charts.aero/airport/EICK Thank you so much for reading this and for your time. Cathal.

I just bought this scenery for FS9 and the volumetric grass in my scenery is grey (no textures). I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I did email Taxi2Gate about it, but I wanted to see if anyone else is having the same problem. Maybe I just installed it wrong or maybe there is some textures missing that didn't get installed.

Have the FlyTampa KSEA installed on my system. Just noticed that my taxiways appear to be dirt. The concrete shows, but as the plane taxis along there is dirt being kicked up by the wheels and the plane bounces. Have tried different AFCADS, uninstalling other scenery in the area, even did a re-install of the KSEA scenery, all to no avail. Tried using the default KSEA, and it will not show runways or taxiways around the aircraft. They can be seen at a distance, but as you move the taxi/runways disappear and grass appears. Have no clue what has happened with the default or the FlyTampa scenery. Posted this on the FlyTampa forum as well. Open to all ideas.

I’m looking at several FS2004 payware airport scenery options and would appreciate some feed back please. I’ve had the SimFlyers Los Angeles KLAX scenery for a number of years now but it’s showing it’s age and also doesn’t fit very well with the Blue Sky Photo ground textures in the Los Angeles area. The options are either the Blueprint LAX or FSDT LAX . With the Blueprint scenery about half the price of the FSDT one , that’s looking good. The next airport I’m considering is San Francisco with either the FlyTampa SFO or Flightbeam Studios version. I have the FlyTampa Seattle KSEA and I’m very happy with it , so price wise I’m leaning more towards the …

Hello all, I know I come late to this party, but I just dare to ask you, the true FS2004 fanatics, about your experiences and solutions concerning misplaced objects in Ultimate Terrain USA. As I'm a true believer in FS2004 since the beginning I already had quite some knowledge about Ultimate Terrain Europe/ Canada/Alaska and badly misplaced objects (notably buildings and bridges), which were a consequence of the lacking accuracy in the default world of FS2004 and some payware/freeware sceneries. I also knew about the fabulous Quantumleep Repositioning Project for Ultimate Terrain (QLRP4UT) and some methods how to exclude objects (but I never found a very covenient…

Years of adding scenery to FS9 now seems to have caused certain areas to become over populated with buildings and especially trees, which in the case of Northern Alaska and Canada's NWT, trees are in evidence everywhere which don't grow there in real life. Unalakleet town has expanded with what I can only assume to be default buildings stretching out beyond the length of the main runway. Places like Barrow have become surrounded in trees, know doubt the population would like them but as in real life, in FS9 it's unreal. Would it be an idea be to search all tree bgl's and delete them out of the Program and bit by bit re-install. I don't think there is any FS9 Payware for A…

Slow loading blurry ground textures in FS9? I have a fine PC (20fps locked with payware aircraft, stock everything else), but for some reason the "tiles" that make up ground textures seem to have difficulty loading in time. I'm not talking about them being missing but in the distance they're blurry (which I'm to assume they're meant to be past a certain distance?) but when I get closer they still take longer than i'd like to become "not blurry". They sometimes don't clear up until i'm within 10nm of them! Is there something I can edit or change to get them to load faster? This doesn't *seem* like a hardware issue it seems more like a sim issue because even when i'…

After a 4 year break I thought I'd revisit FS9. I've recently rediscovered my old backup HDD with lots of FS9 stuff on it. I've got some spare time so thought I might explore the old sim again and maybe get reacquainted with some old favourites. I've not really stayed in touch with what's been going on, so what are the recommendations nowadays, what are the *must have* addons for FS9? Thanks for any advice.

Hi I see both are about the same price at the moment. I would really like a modern Airbus for FS9 but have a few reservations about the Airsimmer from what I have read. Is the latest vesion a robust reliable product, or would I be better spending my money on the Maddog, which is another aircraft I love. I would be very interested in hearing from people who have experience of either. A the end of the day I want an in depth reliable simulation. What say you all? Thanks Niall

Well for the 38 55 souls who expressed an interest in the Dubai helports... Here are some for FlyTampa Hong Kong. There is mention of no less than 170 helipads around the place, but they are not on the top of tall buildings as you'd expect. The Peninsula Hotel is about the only one, so I have taken some licence and spread a few others about the place. ...and if you look in the background of that top left pic, you'll remember how fantastic it is to watch AI coming in here, around the Chequerboard: I've also added one to Macau as it's just down the road. Mostly I use these for the JustFlight AI helos, but they are landable (by a very few high…

I use FSNavigator to export flight plans to FS9. The general process when I fly longer flights is: Create plan Export to FS9 Let the sim fly the flightplan until just before the BOD Load up plan and allow ATC to bring me in More than half the time, FS9 hangs when I go to load up the plan via the ATC communication screen (tilda key). Luckily I use the save flight feature and can always go back, but it entails killing the sim, restarting, choosing the plan again (which always works this time) and continuing on. It's become somewhat annoying as FS isn't too quick to restart. Is anyone aware of a fix or a work around? Thanks Chris

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section ... but it's technical, and I do have Windows 7 installed, so ... My problem is that if I minimise FS9 to reach the Desktop, I can't get back to the sim' again, even though the FS9 icon is there in the Desktop toolbar. Double-clicking the icon does nothing, and there's no alternative but to close the sim' and reload again (a real pain!). This is very annoying for a couple of reasons; a lot of payware aircraft come with fuel & payload utilities that can't be reached from inside FS9, which means having to minimise the sim' and access via the Desktop - only once done, I can't get back to the sim' again. Also, I …

I'm sure the many add-on sceneries of the late Toni Agramont have been discussed somewhere in the forum! I've been flying in the Caribbean recently and his sceneries certainly add interest to VFR trips in that area. His Cuba scenery is different, however. Now he's 'corrected' many of the navaids - VORs, NDBs and ILS approach paths. He never seems to have used AFCAD, though, so these are all duplicated in the GPS map. My experience of duplicated VORs is that if you select his VOR when compiling a GPS flight plan, the autopilot ignores it and sails along on the same course, oblivious of the next waypoint. He also mentions in the Readme file that the mesh files should …

Hi, When flying general aviation aircraft especially, some very mild movement in the control wheel (PFC USB Yoke) makes the aircraft pitch and roll very very abruptly almost going out of control...this accounts for either the default cessna 172 up to the digital aviation piper cheyenne and the carenado C206 and F33. Any help with how are your controls set and what sensitivities and null zones you are using please....or other suggestions. regards, emann

Hi all, I am in search for a good quality (visual and system) freeware PA38 for FS9 for some lite flight training purposes. I remember that Carenado created a free one back in the days, and JF FlyingClub has one. Does anyone know whether there are other better ones or are they the best you're going to get? If so, out of the two, which would be more popular? I also had a search in AVSIM library and google in general, can't seemed to find many sources on this bird. If anyone have better knowledge on this, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
