When using simconnect and event ID's to affect changes to the G1000 in FSX I have noticed several issues.KOHLSMAN_INC and KOHLSMAN_DEC only affect the standby altimeter. ALthough this is true in a real plane, there is no event ID to set the G1000 Baro. It is kind of interesting that they did not make the event ID affect the G1000 setting becuase it does affect the AP and GPS (although there is no real integration), in some real planes you must set each separate.Second, in VC I can control all of the settings on the G1000 (except Baro), but when I use the PFD or MFD view, some of the functions work and some don't.I will nned to check my simmconnect version to see if I have…

Hi folks,I've just been in the process of figuring out a pretty troublesome issue - it started with the PMDG MD11 and 747 hanging at the aircraft select screen; running simconnect diagnostics, and taking a look at event viewer, it seemed as though both planes couldn't find simconnect.dll - even though all three versions (RTM, SP1, Acceleration) existed in my Windows SxS folder. Further investigation suggested that simconnect may be corrupted - running AI Traffic.exe would also hang.Several reinstalls of Vista x64 and FSX later, I found the problem - and it's not such an obvious one. It seems that my documents folder was the root cause of the problem. I keep my docs on a s…

I'm having trouble getting Simconnect to work with ASX/ASA. I keep getting an error message about not having the proper SP# SDK installed. I have FSX Deluxe with the Acceleration Pack installed. I have tried making things work with both the SP1A and SP2 SDK and they do to a certain extent. I can run any of the Samples in the SDK folder with either SP installation, but I can't get ASX/ASA to work. I'm not looking for help with ASX/ASA (I will ask for that help on the proper forum), but I just want to make sure I am using the proper SDK version. With the Acceleration Pack installed, should I be using SP1a or SP2 SDK?

Basically what i'm talking about is functionality along the lines of, when in AP mode: i say 'heading 270' and hey presto! the plane changes direction to that heading. I am aware that Cockpit Chatter carries this functionality but i gave up on it due to it's poor response success rate (in his sales pitch the de…

  10. I am using FREEZE_... events to disable the flight model with SimConnect client controlling the positioning of my object. How does the surface interaction work in this case? Is it still active? For example, if I land my SimConnect-controlled helicopter on a slope, will the contact points still "sense" the slope and tilt the aircraft accordingly? or will it stay level, and just sense the ground underneath? Or, the worst case, will it ignore the ground and just keep falling towards the center of the earth?

Hello all,I have a question for you. I am currently developing a small application and I am able to load a flight once a certain key is pressed. Everything is working pretty much OK.However, I would like to have the chance to start my application first and once all setting are done, the user would click a "Load" button. After that FSX would start automatically, loading my flight from the .flt file and skipping the GUI, where you can select your aircraft etc.So basically after clicking the button in my application, the next thing the user would see is fsx starting and then sitting in the cockpit.I would be great if somebody could tell me how to do it and if it is possible …

I think I have found a small bug with the electrical system failure variable using simconnect. But its probably more likely that I'm doing something wrong. I'm reading the variable "PARTIAL PANEL ELECTRICAL" listed in the simulation variables of the esp sdk. If I go into the aircraft failures and fail the electrical system, this variable returns a '1' for true. If the electrical is not failed it will return a '0'. The problem pops up when I turn off the battery and the generator/alternator power. It seems that if no electrical power is being supplied to the aircraft, the return value is always a '1', even when the electrical system is not failed. I confirmed that th…

Hi,I have the following problem as with ASX solution.Q. I am getting an error that SP1 SimConnect cannot be foundA. When .NET 2.0 is not installed on the system when FSX or SP1 is installed, the proper managed SimConnect files may not be installed. To correct this situtation, uninstall SP1 via add/remove programs (check the box at top to show updates). Do not remove FSX, just the SP1 update. Then reinstall SP1. SimConnect should now be installed with the proper configuration.I do have .net 2.0 installed. I could not find SP1 for FSX in my add/remove programs. SP2 for FSX was there. Since Microsoft warns about re-installing SP1 if SP2 is already installed what I did was un…

I am having difficulty in reading a variable which represents the course which is settable in degrees.I have reviewed the simconnect variables and can not seem to find this. Good afternoon,Have been working with simconnect for a few days now based on the Managed Data Request sample application. All is working well and has been quite fun. However, I am stumped on one detail. I understand how the Pause event is managed based on the SubscribeToSystemEvent method. However, I am trying to configure an event that would fire based on a toggle of the autopilot master switch in FSX. After some research it does not appear that the SubscribeToSystemEvent call is correct. Could someone provide a small code snippet of how to register the autopilot master event such that my client receives notification of the AP master toggle event when initiated from …

  20. I've spent alot of time lately developing using the SimConnect managed code infrastructure. While not everything is perfect, i'd say it's been a very good experience (and was my first exposure to c# too).Is there a channel where we can submit bug reports and request new features in future versions of Flight Simulator (and maybe even TrainSim)?Number 1 on my list is sound being switched off in FSX when your managed simconnect application has the focus. There's a switch to prevent the simulator pausing, but nothing to keep the sound going following a context switch. This seems to effect just out of process applications, not in-process.RegardsSimon

I'm a newcomer to SimConnect and C#. I'm more familiar with C/C++ but I like the simpler environment of C#. I'm working on a basic project to familiarise myself with both, but I keep running into the problem. The code below is part of the project. The first two lines execute fine, but the third comes up with this error:Error 1 The name 'simconnect_OnRecvException' does not exist in the current contextI can't grasp why the first two work, but the third doesn't. I've installed the SDK SP1a patch, but not SP2. Would that fix it? I'd rather not go to SP2 if I can avoid it.[faux code]simconnect.OnRecvOpen += new SimConnect.RecvOpenEventHandler(simconnect_OnRecvOpen);simconnect.…

My name is Bob and I hate simconnect. I love FSUIPC. Yes, I know that FSUIPC is old technology. Yesterday's news, out of date. But you know what? It had one attribute that simconnect lacks. The darn thing worked. I have spent hours trying to get ASX to talk to FSX via a client. I give up and I hope that the ACES engineer/designer/programmer who thought that mess up (and two versions since RTM) also had a rotten fourth of July. I'm a pilot, not a network systems analyst. All I want is to install a program on a client, setup the network, like FSCommander,RC Contact, FlightKeeper, FSmoving Map, FS Realtime etc, that work great across the network via FSUIPC. I'm sure all the…

Dave did mention that FSWide is a good choice but I have spent enough money on FSX recently and I like to figure out ways to use SimConnect. I'm using SimConnect via C++ and have everything working except, I can't find an event id to toggle the IAS/MACH mode switch as present on the 737 AP. I also can't find the var that will let me know which mode it's currently in.I've been over and over the doc's and I just can't see it. It must be there right? I think my old eyes are tired.A pointer in the right direction would be appreciated.Ted
