  1. Recently I had trouble with my TrackIR as it stopped working for FSX after I messed up my FSX installation and had to use repair to repair it... after that TIR just stopped working for FSX. I went to their website and the recc. was to delete the simconnect files and then repair FSX. that sort of did the trick but not really... I'm missing 3 of the simconnect folders (I have some files, but not the folders I deleted) in my winsxs directory and even though the game works now, i can't install FSUIPC because it says that 'the version of simconnect installed will not run FSUIPC4' well I tried repairing, but it's just not doing it...I'd really really appreciate some help =/righ…

Hey Everyone, My names Matthew Chase this is my first time on the forum. I'm working on a simple app where i just need to retrieve the Latitude and Longitude of the aircraft I'm flying using Simconnect. However, I just cannot get it to work, I've looked at a ton of examples, and I know it should be simple. Any help would be much appreciated.Matthew ChaseUnited States Coast Guard Academy

Quick questiot: I'll do my own tests, but wanted to know other developers opinion on the subject first.AICreateSimobject calls and pretty much all of the AICreate* calls seem to 'pause' the sim for the time an object is being inserted. it is a VERY short pause, like a mini-stutter.If I 'batch insert' a high number of objects, say, 20, while iterating the sim completely 'freezes' (for 2-3 seconds) my understanding, was that Simconnect and FSX have asyncronous communication and that this kind of 'object injections' got queued for batching and should not 'pause' anything...are this pauses 'normal'? what would be the root cause for them to happen?

Greetings all!I have been wondering what the most efficient way is to set a single variable in a data definition. Say I create a definition that contains a series of variables related to flight controls. For now, I am not using tagged variables (I read somewhere that using tagged values with data that changes often would hurt performance). If I want to update only one of those variables in the definition -- leaving all other variables untouched -- how would I do that efficiently? Thanks,Lev

On a different post in the FSX forum I explained how the first and last time I installed FSX I was unable to get Simconnect to work and how I was going to do a clean reinstall to seeif this time it would finally work.So this time FSX Gold was installed, rebooted, did flight, followed by installation of Acceleration Packwhich apparently incorporates SP2, another reboot and subsequent flight. When in full screen mode at any given airport I cannot see anything related to simconnect on anyof the pull down menus, there was however a Multiplayer screen similar to that on FS9.So the first question would be, how do I know if simconnect is correctly installed and working?Been readi…

Dear All,I installed AICArriers2 since it was out and it worked like a charm, but since a couple of weeks now it stopped to work with a Java error message at the start of FSX(see picture below). I checked the EXE.xml but without error.Has anyone got that error and what did cure the problem?I found several post (here, avsim, sim-outhouse, etc...) with the same error but without an answer to the problem.I have Java installed (JRE V6 u13), I work under vista32 and FSX Acceleration. All help will be appreciated, thanks and Best regards,Amedee

I need help making simconnect create a global connection so I can access it from a remote machine. Simconnect works perfectly when the client is on the same machine as FSX runs on. Managed Data Request shows a connection to FSX and will return the AC information when run on the same machine as FSX. Additionally, FSXGET (which uses simconnect) runs just as it should and shows all the AC moving about the Google Earth display when FSXGET is on the same machine as FSX. The problem is that FSX (the simconnect dll does appear in the FSX address space) only creates three local connections and doesn

Hello,I want to make a software that it takes a screenshot in FSX when a button is clicked. I know that in FSX I can take a screenshot pressing "V" key. But can I automate this procedure within a program? I think that it was possible by sending a "CAPTURE_SCREENSHOT" event to FSX. But how can I send an event to FSX with SimConnect?Thank you!

Hello, I would like to add a camera to follow an object that I have created with SimConnect. Similar to what is done in Flour Power mission, in which, when you drop a flour pack a new view is shown and the camera follows the pack to the ground. My question is: How do I create a new view with the camera attached to a particular object id? Anyone has insight on that? Thanks a lot.

Hi,first of all, i'm a complete newbie to the FSX SDK. i have however managed to do most of the things I wanted. basically what i was looking for was to get a reference of glideslope error as well as the heading error when you are on approach. now, this is working fine in airports when i tune ILS. using the variables "NAV GLIDE SLOPE ERROR:1" and "NAV RADIAL ERROR:1" gives me exactly what i'm looking for.but, is there something similar I can use for carrier operations in FSXA? I installed the FSXA SDK but I can't seem to find any variables that could give me an indication of the state of the meatball and how far right/left to the landing deck I actually am. HelloI have two joysticks attached to my system and would like to map an event (lets assume "gear down") to one of its buttons. Now, i know that there are several possibilities for that: for a "simple" event like this "gear down" you can simply map this button of the target joystick within the option menu of the FSX itself. for a more sophisticated event (not available in the option menu of the FSX) you could use the FSUIPC. BUT, i would like to use SimConnect and the appropriate "MapInputEventToClientEvent" call (to programme my own plugin). The problem is, which joystick (0,1,...) is my target joystick? For the "MapInputEventToClientEvent" you have to define the event lik…

Hi,Recently I downloaded SP1 for ASA and I was amazed at how much of an improvement it was, and its reliability to connect to FSX in a network environment everytime. As I mentioned, to meet my goal of reducing the impact on framerates, I chose to install ASA on another PC.Currently, I'm looking at the possibility of adding X Graphics to improve the textures in FSX. I have the following questions:1) Can X Graphics be installed on another PC like ASA (i.e. networked)?2) I assume you run X-graphics to create the textures desired, which are then saved in an FSX file folder, and when you run ASA, is there is a way you can select these saved textures?3) How much of a framera…

I'm planning a new rig for FSX and I noticed that the new UT goes through simconnect rather than traffic bgls. Am I correct that I could load UT2 on a different computer and network it with my FSX computer. Purchasing UT2 will depend on what I can do with it and what the benefit will be. I have a similar question posted in their forum but I'm not getting any answers. What type of benefit do you think I will see considering the FSX rig still needs to render the ai. AI is big for me and I have almost 200 traffic bgls in FS9. I'd like to take some of the resources off of FSX by using simconnect but it would cost me more because I wouldn't be able to cannibalize my current rig…

Been trying to migrate to FSX but have encountered a fundamental problem, SimConnect won't communicate with AI Traffic.exeon either the Server or the Client on the LAN. Initially I thought the problem had something to do with ASA and therefore made a postin that Forum where Jim Skorna was kind enough to follow through things until finally, it became obvious it was a SimConnect issue.http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=260699In brief:2 PCs on LAN/Router.2 PCs each assigned a static IP addressAll relevant folders shared with Total Control permissionsNetwork comms very fast and working perfectly.FSX installed followed by SP1 & SP2ASA reported initially that it c…

I understand the bias towards C# here, but would like to stay with VB if possible.I would like to override the simulation and feed FSX with my own parameters. Ultimately I would be feeding LAT/LON/Altitude/Attitude/Airspeed/Control surface position, etc.Can anyone thow together a quick VB app that shows me how to do this?If anyone wants to call dibs and help me out with this off-line, I would be happy to PayPal you $50, or if we solve it here on the forum, I will drop that in the AVSIM donation box.I am running FSX SP2, FSX SDK SP2, and VB 2008 Express. Thanks i…

Could someone explain why a single computer IP would change from one day to the next, and how to prevent it? Last weekend I spent and inordinate amount of time with Simconnect and finally got everthing to connect. Tonight, I was horrified when things failed to connect only to learn the server IP had mysteriously changed by a single digit.

I'm going to try my best to explain, but it may be hard to follow. I'm trying to control the r22 with the controls "GENERAL ENG PROPELLER LEVER POSITION:1" "GENERAL ENG THROTTLE LEVER POSITION:1"If you fly the b206, the PROPELLER LEVER is the throttle control. The THROTTLE LEVER is actually the collective control. But these don't seem to work correctly with the r22. #1By changing the PROPELLER LEVER (0-100%), I printf out both My_PropValue and FSX_PropValue. These two values are the same. This means, I send a value to flight sim, and it returns the same value to me. But the control doesn't affect the helicopter at all. The engine rpm and MAP stay the same.#2By chan…

I have no idea if this the right place, but I figure some pretty smart people read these threads. How great would it be if you could have a little program that just recorded your route for Google Earth? You could save them in different folders, etc., and the see your flights on a beautiful 3-D globe. I know this is possible, but I wonder if something could just do that.Well, if you think it is a good idea, I think other people would be interested in something with a small footprint that did just that.
