Using AiCreateSimulatedObject and RemoveObject i succesfully create and destroy objects in my scenery (FSX with Acceleration PAck). Now i'm trying to trigger some effects: i create some objects in gmax with attached effects . They work fine creating a "classic" standalone bgl but if i use them via simconnect AICreateSimulatedObject ...the object is create but no effects.I use the same mdl so i' do not understand why effects aren't visible at all. Thanks for any tip.Rob

I have gotten them all to compile/link , no problem. The .exe file runs but several don't do their intended function. e.g. The AI aircrafts are created when I pressed the ZX keys, but they are still on the park forever. How to wake up the sleeping AI aircraft? Thanks!

I use SimConnect_AICreateEnrouteATCAircraft to create one AI aircraft, and place it's pln file to "C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorMy DocumentsFlight Simulator X Files" Dir.The AI aircrfat is created, but can't takeoff. It is on one park forever. What is matter?

I'm not computer savy to say the least, I have a friend that is good with computers but primarily XP. I have done some searching and have had no luck. My problem is that I have a network between 2 computers setup with no problems. The main problem I am finding is that I cannot share my C: drive which contains my flight sim folder that ASX needs to find and have access to, from what I can understand. I can put a public up and share with no problems. I can also share my AppData folder as well. Just not my hard drive. Both computers are using Vista32 with a router in between that is connected to the internet. I'm also not understanding how I need to run the SimConnect.msi on…

I've been working on an add-on for FSX that will allow AI aircraft to fly real world routes using routes, waypoints and DP's/STAR's (DP/STAR is VERY BETA). It has a user-maintainable database of over 50,000 navaids (Limited to Airports, VOR's and FIXs at this point). User-maintainable list of over 3500 routes. The application compiles TTools and Traffic Database Builder source files. I need help testing:Does is run? (I've not tested on a system other than my own)Compilation of Traffic Builder Database filesAccuracy of the schedulerPosition of aircraft (Do the aircraft show up when and where they are supposed to)Documentation is going to be pretty sparse at this point, b…

If you have more than one Simconnect client, do they need to have unique names for each one?Example, I use VB6, and I open SimConnect client with "SimConnect1.Open "FSCSimConnect", 0"The FSCSimConnect is the OCX I am using to interface with SimConnect."SimConnect1" is the name I use as a client name. So if I have more than one client do I need to change the client name to something like "SimConnect2" etc. ?Thanks Dave

Solved the earlier problems with effects ( if interested see my previous posts) i'm now playing with animation...again with no results.A .mdl made in gmax and containing a simple animation ( a rotating cube ) works when placed with a bgl but if placed with AiCreateSimulatedObject it appears without animation.Anyone have had this problem??Thanks.Rob

Hi Please see my other post about simconnect does not initialize under Vista64.As I have a dualboot system also with Win-XP-Home, so I tried it out on this system and simconnect is initializing without problem when starting FS X.So it must be a Vista64 problem!!Anyone had made the same experience? Thanks Peter

I have built a Simconnect application using managed code. In the manifest, I have the SimConnect.dll from FSX RTM, so that anyone can run the application (lowest common denominator). However that means someone with say SP2 installed is not getting the benefit of the SP2 version of SimConnect.dll, as it seems the .net framework always loads the assembly specified in the manifest. Is there a way to have .net load the latest version of simconnect that is found on a PC, while maintaining compatibility for all SimConnect versions. Or do we need to build a separate .exe for each SimCommect version and figure out what is what during installation.ThanksSimon

I have no clue when this went up, but I just noticed a minute ago that the first update to the FSX SDK went up on the FSInsider site. The link is:http://www.fsinsider.com/Community/Developers-CornerFrom the page:"This update to the Software Development Kit (SDK) for Flight Simulator X includes improvements to almost all aspects of the SDK shipped in the Deluxe version: * Tools and scripts for gmax modeling * Updates to the tools and scripts for 3ds Max modeling * A new sample 3ds Max aircraft source file (DC-3) and documentation on how to create aircraft models for FSX * New documentation on how to texture aircraft using the new technologies in FSX * A new V…

I have been pulling my hair out for the last two days trying to get Simconnect to establish a connection from a remote computer. I have searched the internet and have tried several configurations. I have 2 machines running WinXP Pro. I have de-installed Mcafee on both machines. I have opened the port range on my router.Running FSX Acceleration.I also installed Simconnect.msi on the client. Simconnect runs fine as a local application. FSUIPC and WideFS work great from client. Here is the Simconnect.xml on the server machine.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>SimConnectSimConnect.xmlFalseFalseAutolocal 644096FalseFalseIPv4global192.168.1.104 6481…

I have written an FSX client/Server application. The client requires the SimConnect client installing, i.e. simconnect.msi from the SDK folder on the FSX deluxe disk. I don't have FSX "standard" version (i.e. without SDK), so i was wondering whether the standard version also has some version of simconnect.msi, and how that gets service packs like the SDK version has. If it is not included, can I legally redistribute it with my application?ThanksSimon

I've come across a hint that this question may have been asked before, but no clue as to whether it's been answered:************************** QUESTION ******************************** Via simconnect is there a call that would return ground altitude at a given lat/long?*******************************************************************Alternatively (better) at an offset relative to the lat/long of the user aircraft (I know given the former I could calculate the latter)?I would imagine there are many applications of this feature but my idea is to sample a number of points around the user aircraft (e.g. a total of 16 points within 2km). With appropriate averaging I could es…

I have a FS2004.What I don't like FS2004 is that duaring turn I need too much pitch and power compare with actual. For example if I fly PMDG 737-800 with 5degrees pitch in straight andlevel,I need 7.5 or 8degrees pitch and lots of add power in 30 degrees bank level turn. This is too much compare with the actual 737 airline simulator,I need only 5.5 degrees or 6 degrees pitch duaring 30 degrees bank level turn.I tried many addon and finaly found out this is FS2004's nature.I want to know how about in FSX.If this problem is corected I will buy the FSX.RegardsTomyokota

OK, i purchased a FSX DVD and installed.and was running with no problems, then i thought i would like to get ASX so this afternoon i bought it and downloaded it and sat back and looked forward to once again having to deal with windshear and jetwash :). However it has a problemOn ASX startup i get the message " SimConnect (SP1 version) was not able to be loaded..this is required for operation with FSX! ASX will continue to operate but will not update FSX weather".??/ ok a quick visit to the fs forums and i download and installed sp1...sp2..and the SDK just in case and installed..started up the ASX again and still get the same problem.???Googled the problem message and foun…

Hello guys,I'm using simconnect to get some data from FSX. Which works fine.I'm trying to make a function that gives me the closest airport, which also works fine. (I'm asking an initial list and then updates, no problem).HOWEVER, (up to now) two airports are never returned by simconnect: EHAM and EGLL. Even when I'm sitting or flying over the runway. (I checked and doublechecked, even by moving all over the place with my plane, but I never get these two back, all surrounding airports work just fine.)Is there a known bug in the SimConnect_RequestFacilitesList function? Or some kind of 'need to know?'

I am finishing Computer Science graduation at Federal University of Pernambuco, in Brazil. My graduation project is related to FSX and SimConnect.I am developing EasyConnect and FlightInstuctor. EasyConnect is an abstraction layer to C# SimConnect API, which aims to make it easier to use. It offers methods like the following to the programmer:ec.throttleLever.SetVar(80);ec.nav1Frequency.KeySet(110.30);double d = ec.engManifoldPressure.GetVar();bool b = ec.apMasterSwitch.GetVar();FlightInstructor is virtual flight instructor focused on IFR learning process. It is composed of ProcedurePerformer and FlightAnalyzer modules. FlightInstructor uses EasyConnect to communicate wit…

All, I have a silly question:I can't seem to be able to toggle the parking brakes on/off using the following definition (that works well for left and right brakes or any other "position" type variable, just not the parking brake):"BRAKE PARKING POSITION", "position", SIMCONNECT_DATATYPE.FLOAT64I read the value when on, says 1.0, which is correct (100%).I read the value when off, says 0.0, which is correct (0%).If I set the value to 1.0 (on), or 0 for that matter (off), I get a data error. I've tried changing the data type, using 32K for on, etc... to no avail. It will not take any value I sent it without returning exception 20, a data error.Any ideas what I'm doing wron…

Someone is experiencing a very strange problem with a program of mine.In order to activate the program, one has to push a key. And this works fine before a flight.Yet after a flight... my smiconnect client does not receive the key event anymore (for a couple of hundred others it works fine). So I wrote a simple program: if the users presses the zero key, the message 'Roger That!' is displayed in FSX. Besides that I subscribe to the '4Sec' event. If I do not receive the event within 5 seconds of the previous receive... I display 'watchdog triggered' message in my client.Every time the user presses zero, the 'Roger That' message is displayed... but also the watchdog triggers…

I'm trying to add an animation to a SimObject of type 'GroundVehicle', that I can trigger from SimConnect. As a matter of fact, I have succeeded, but with a side effect. But first... when you set the Category of a SimObject to GroundVehicle only a very limited subset of the SimulationVariables is available: position, speed, acceleration, rotation, wheel rotation speed and I guess the headlight/brakelight visibility switches work as well. But suppose I want to open a door of the groundvehicle from my SimConnect client... I was thinking to add a trigger based upon comfrequency, flaps position, smoke enabled, ... and then modify the variable through a SimConnect call, but all o…

Hi,In FSUIPC i'm using offset 0x0BE0 for the Flaps position indicator (left).I was wondering, what is the corresponding SimConnect variable?I don't see a Simconnect variable with exactly the same name in the Microsoft Simulation Variables documentation (Aircraft Controls data)...Rgrds,Nicohttp://www.nicokaan.nl

Hi,I'm having a difficulty in C++ obtaining the NAV1 active frequency (in a native Win32 application). In my panel the frequency reads 107.20I call a SimConnect_AddToDataDefinition with the following parameters "Nav active frequency:1", "MHz" and SIMCONNECT_DATATYPE_FLOAT64 When the value returns I try to interpret pObjData->dwData as double, but I do not know how to convert that to integer?????If I convert to int (to get the whole value) I get a strange result.Note that if I use SIMCONNECT_DATATYPE_INT32 and I interpret the pObjData->dwData as int, I get the correct whole value 107, but then I miss the decimal part .20Any help would be appreciated.Nicohttp:/…
