Welcome to the PlanePath forum. This forum can be used to get support for technical problems you encounter when using PlanePath terminal procedures (SIDs, STARs and IAPs). PlanePath is a freeware service that was started in 2003 with the introduction of terminal procedures for the PMDG 737NG. Since then it has expanded to include procedures for the PSS Airbus Pro, the PSS Dash-8, the PSS 747, the PSS 777, the Aviograsf A340, the Wilco 767 PIC, the Flight1 ATR 72-500 and the Feel There ERJ 145. The procedures PlanePath provides are derived from the real world DAFIF (Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File) database. The procedures are distributed every 28 days fr…

Hi all. I have just expanded my site. Up until now I have been limited to 5 megs of web space because I have been using the space allotted by my ISP. So, after two years of restrictions, complicated and slow management of my old site I have taken the plunge into paid web space. I now have plenty of storage space and hopefully more than enough bandwidth to cover the 25 - 30 Gigs a month of downloads. The site is not fully usable but will be by this Thursday's 0511 cycle. The site is at http://PlanePath.com but I will announce that again when I announce that the next cycle of terminal procedures are ready for download. So, for those that want to, be ready to change your boo…

There is an interesting problem when updating your SIDs and STARs. It is caused by the system and misconceptions. Some background. I make the SIDs/STARs/IAPs for the PMDG, PSS, 767 PIC, Aviograsf, Flight1, Wilco and Feel There aircraft from the DAFIF database which is updated every 28 days. Besides a few private web sites the other major 'supplier' is navdata.at. It is very important to note that navdata.at does not produce any new SIDs or STARs for the PSS aircraft. Navdata.at provides a place for others to upload their creations for PSS after which they are consolidated for download as an all in one, 'AIO' file. I think this is a nice service he provides. Now the …

Hi there 747 and 737NG Driver. I see some confusion and misconceptions about the SID/STAR/IAP database made for the PMDG 747 and 737NG. I thought I would have a go at explaining how to avoid the recurring problems I see in forums and in the email I get. First, an overall explanation of what is available, where to get the data and how to use it.The SID/STAR/IAP database is derived from the DAFIF (Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File) database. It is the only on-line, worldwide, free digital database I know of. This database is made for the U.S. military but does not contain all the SIDs/STARs/IAPs that are available in the civilian world. My guess is because only a…

Is there any difference between an RNAV and GPS approach in the default GPS in default planes in P3D v5.x? I can't seem to find an answer to this, even though they are both shown on the approach selector. Many thanks!

Hello. I have a little problem with this bird. As it seems that STARs in America are entering correctly, that's strange that I can't enter ANY STAR in Europe. There's no matter on what airport, every time I set STAR, it's not showing up in FMC. I can enter everything else, Approach and Runway too, just can't enter Europe STARs. I know this plane was created in think of America flying, but maybe you know how to fix it? Sorry for bad English Regards.

I trying to add custom waypoint to FSX/P3D database so we can use in the default GPS and also been able to create a flight plan with them. I have to use the vor because in Italy the vfr point name are much more longer then 5 character and I still have the problem with the ident in 5 character. I am wondering, if it is possible to create custom waypoint with other method but been able to create flightplan. Is it possible to change color of the vor icon or other navaid in the night version as the blu is not so clear on the map. Is the map inside of the gps a bitmap in the gauges or is coming from the 3d mesh of fsx? Thank' s for any input <Vor dme="TRUE" dmeOnly="TRUE" …

Ok, so say I have been designated a SID to follow after takeoff, the SID has strict rules for climbing for example at 4000ft at a certain waypoint, then 5000ft next one and so on. Then after takeoff atc instructs me let say for example "climb FL 150". Should I just forget the published restrictions and shoot up or obey the restrictions until past the last restriction point and then just climb to assigned FL? And if I follow the restrictions, say the ATC directs starts all of a sudden giving me vectors (which take me off my published SID lateral route) out of the terminal area, can I at that point forget about the alt restrictions since I am not even flying the published S…

What is the correct way to determine the landing and takeoff runways in VatSim when there aren't any controllers online. I currently use FSX with NEXT for managing the weather set to VatSim network. When approaching an airport or wanting to depart what is the best way to determine which runway to use while flying in VatSim? I normally review winds in NEXT and connect to ATIS for that airport in FSX to verify winds and see which runways it publishes are being used. We had a discussion last night and someone said that isn't a valid way because FSX weather can be different than VatSim. Since I'm connected with NEXT and weather in FSX is matching VatSim, I th…

Hey fellow pilots,

I have been simming for 6 years now and still have not managed to do a decent ILS app/landing. I think part of the problem is that whenever I try to do an ILS landing the aircraft doesn't line up with the runway properly.

Here's what I do:

Tune the ILS freq. into the MCP and NAV1 radio as well as the runway heading (I obtain this info from FSC, but it never seems to line up with the runway, it always turned and lines up parallel to it about 2 miles away, or it doesn't line up at all)

I descend to 2000 feet and capture the localized and glide slope.
<…

I use FSX flight planner with updated Nav Data for Eaglesoft Citation X and have updated Mag Variation, but on final ILS approach the 2-4 waypoints before landing "don't align" like all the waypoints in the flight plan.Up to that point in the flight plan all waypoints are smoothly transistioned. The way points on the Primary Display (2.5M scale) show the path to be off-set slightly so the plane usually veers a bit to one side or another as it crosses the waypoint, picks up the path again, proceeds to the next waypoint, veers again etc. Does this 2-3 times until final approach point which always seems fine, and then onto landing. Everything works fine, do a nice ILS landin…

Hello, Guys! What's difference between Standard Instrument Departure and Obstacle Departures? I've read many many Google topics and resources but still unable to understand clearly. Now I've not needed any external resource, I've needed the expert's answer here in this forum. I'll be grateful to him who teach me in easy words. Also, in which departure procedure, it comes? See image? Means which is this departure procedure showed in picture?

Okay, who knows their air navigation and has enough math to understand it? I'm using the Level-D 767 and I need to tweak a few SIDs and STARs for a group of islands I fly regularly. Now, being islands nav-aids are sparse so there are a lot of DME arcs to fly and since my airac is out of date I need to update these manually - or rather, I need to know how to do it manually so that I can write a SID/STAR editor for the Level-D and others. I don't mind doing this... The Level-D is worth it and it has lovely XML based navdata files which are very easy to edit, but the FMC doesn't understand DME ARCs so these appear in the SID/STAR files as multiple references to LAT:LONG …

I was oin FkuightAware looking at routes between Juneau (PAJN) and Seattle (KSEA) and came across the following route: MARMN3 SNETT MICZI YYJ JAWBN3 So I went to download the appropriate charts from the FAA site, but found there is no published departure procedure name even close to the contraction MARMN. A bit more research leads me to believe this departure is strictly a company profile. Does anyone know where I could Alaska Airline-specific charts such as the MARMN SID out of Juneau? Thanks LeeF
