I have been looking at microsoft flight sim with a view to use its flight model and cockpit displays to drive a multi channel image generator system. I have found a number of products such as fsconnect and fsuipc which seem to be able to get data from within flight sim and display it. I have also found the microsoft sdk's.To start with I want to be able to get the position and attitude of the aircraft in real time. Has any one had any experence of getting this sort of data direct from flight sim or using any the available products. Ant help or examples would be a great help.Thnaks

I have been increasingly annoyed recently at having to manually install adddons. so, i have started project install where i am going to:Use clickteams install creator to make installers for existing addonstry and convince addon designers to do likewise with their own addons.any installers made will be uploaded to avsim, with addon designers permission.

Trying to get started on being able to take the FS2004 bgls, decode them, and place the information on a map (aka FS Navigator, FSFK, FS Scenery Commander, etc). First off, I am clueless on many things that will probably be required to do this like programming in general, but I'm willing to teach myself. I've already learned some stuff just by visiting this forum. However, my mind tells me that I have to break open the .bgl files to get usable data (as I read exists in the scenery sdk) so that I can then take this data and put it on a map. But, first thing is, I need to get those .bgl's open.I've looked for BGL2XML as this would seem a logical choice, but I can't find any…

This may seem foolish, but I'm trying to update the info for the Fredericton Airport (CYFC). The airport layout in FS2K4 is old. The apron layout was all wrong, the ILS runway has been changed, and extended therefore the approaches are all wrong. I've updated the airport layout using AFCAD, but I want to add the necessary Waypoints for the new ILS09 approach. I decompiled the .bgl file with the Fredericton airport and area and edited the .xml adding all the waypoints. I tried to recompile the .xml back to a .bgl using bglcomp from Microsoft and was met with a bevy of errors. Any advice?

Stop me if this has already been discussed. I am new to this forum but thought I would join just to share an idea that I had. I ask that you please critique the idea, because I don't want to put the work into it if it isn't going to be worth it.Google has developed a nice little interface over at http://maps.google.com. The bueaty of it is, it uses XML among other things to generate the maps which basically makes them open source. Alot of webpages have been written on how to take advantage of google maps and extract just the map from the page and play around with it.I thought it would be great to create an application like the flight sim moving maps application but ha…

Hi,I'm trying to alter the position of an aircraft in FS2004 using Microsoft's Adventure Basic Language for the purpose of setting up a radar recovery after a general handling sortie. Rather than actually fly the aircraft to the start point, I would like to be able to alter the latitude and longitude, and altitude without the program pausing but cannot find anything in the FS2004 SDK documentation. Does anyone have any ideas as I'm completely stuck? Thanks in advance for any help - it's much appreciated.Andy.P.S. While I'm on, is there a more comprehensive guide to the FS2004 ABL SDK than the one you download from the Microsoft website?

Hi,I don't know if I'm allowed to do this, mods please feel free to delete if it is out of line... Uhm, I'm looking for 1 or 2 developers to assist in writing a module for FS9.Obviously, I cannot disclose to much information on a public forum of what this is about and what not, I'd be happy to discuss the software and goals privately with interested developers however. The application will be a online / internet based module, any interested developers must be VERY familiar with HTTP XML Post procedures to send requests to web servers, AND be able to manage the return (error or not). Appart from that, the FS9 part of the module should be fairly straight forward. A small li…

Hello,I basically want to do the opposite of what CreatSign does. I want to get coordinates and labels of taxiway signs out of Flight Simulator, in a tabular format, so I can use the data in other applications such as ArcGIS.I'm just not sure how to start. I'm also not the programmer who will be attempting this, but I am trying to pave the way by collecting some ideas. so on that note, does anybody have any? Thanks so much for any help you can provide!!!!Christian

As you know some graphic cards now offer a few fansy shading functions, which are useful in simulating heat shimmer effect.I've tried to collect some heat shimmer effects for fs9. So far it seems that the existing fx files in fs9 are still based on particle system.Recently I've seen a combat flight game demo (lock on?) which clearly shows the engine exhaust effects including heat shimmer implemented with some shading functions(displacement shading? you name it). It looks good.Has anybody got a nice shimmer effect for fs9 so far?
