I started to learn the FS Repaint program and discovered that a good chunk of the manual was missing - especially the Caravan repaint tutorial - not there. I have a small problem.. i downloaded Bell_205_N10RF.zip and a repaint b205acdf.zip... when i got the repaint i decided to make a few changes to it for my one use only.... just changed the symbol on the side.. i didnt touch the back half. i just used the normal paint shop to do this...when i put it in its corect file to play the front half of the helicopeter all its textures are missing but the back half is ok.... is there any way around this... thanks

Using Paint Shop Pro 8, how can I put alpha channels on certain portions of my texture files?thx

Hi all,I'm new to flight sim but not to Photoshop, can anyone give me some advice as to how to go about painting an aircraft. So far as far as I understand it I need the reference for the livery and Photoshop to actually paint the various segments. That I can deal with, after that it gets a little fuzzy! What files do I need to actually paint with-ie the body of the jet itself? Are these bitmaps and if so where do I actually download them from. After that how the hell are they then transformed into the 3d model itself?Many thanks in advance, I'll keep trawling throught the posts in an attempt to glean some more info.RegardsSlain.

I just saw that some thoughtful fellow uploaded a full set of paint kits for all the default aircraft over simviation.com. They even made a complete new category for paint kits. Unfortunately they are not .psp or .psd format, just blank texture sets. Still, they can be quite handy.

:-zhelp I am in need of help when it comes to repaints. First of all, most of aircrafts textures will not come up on MSPAINT for editing. Second, those that do, when I edit them, in the game the whole aircraft is a flat grey. Do I need a special program to do paint editing?

I just repainted my first acft using a combination of MS Paint and PSP8. After much mashing of teeth and expletive deletes I came out with a fairly nice end product. At least I think so for my first try.There are however 2 issues I am unable to resolve. I can't find the texture for the top of the ground power cart of the Dreamwings Fokker 50 v3 anywhere in the paintkit. I've downloaded a few other repaints of this acft and they too have a dark blue cart top even though they painted the rest of the cart in airline colors.Additionally I have been unsuccessful in adding prop tip stripes to the props. If anyone has any feedback on either issue I'd appreciate ur input. TksJoe

Greetings everyone,I need help, please.I need the color codes that are inserted in the Aircaft.cfg file for the aircraft registration number color. That is: "xxxxxxx atc_id_enable=1 atc_id=N-CB1 atc_id_color=0xFF0000 editable=1 xxxxxxxx"I know this means black, but what about other colors like yellow, white.....?Also, do any of the other lines need to be changed or only the color code one.Thank you for helping me out I really appreciate thismy mail addy is: [email protected]

Hello everybody,I usualy use Photoshop to do my repaints but some paintkits como in psp format files.When i try to open some psp files in photoshop I get an error message (i can't remember right now).Is there anyway I can open psp files in photoshop without getting that error message?Thanks in advance,Jorge Antunes

Hi guys,I am curently painting my first Aircraft, a Phuket air 747-2U3B, I have finished the weels, engines and wings and stuff like that, but I cannot seem to get the fuselage textures too work, why not? I have even changed the aircraft.cfg file for my aircraft, everything but the fuselage and tail works though, please help seeing as this is my first aircraft repaint!!!Rob

Hey Folks Has anyone really got any good use out of Abacus' FS Repaint. I can't get it to paint the areas of textures that have alpha channels. When I repaint the texture it all looks good but when I look at the airplane huge areas didn't get painted. I clicked and cussed and tried a different plane and got the same result. Then I really started cussing, but I clicked enough to find out that the areas that the paint "didn't stick to" were the areas that jumped up when I viewed the Alpha Channel. Hi AllI have just started my first repaint. As you well know I ran right into the "why can't I see this bitmap" question all rookies seem to run into. :-) I grabbed a copy of DXTbmp which solved that.Questions. I have settled on Image Forge as my paint program but I find it's "colour pallet" a bit weak. It's very easy to use and works with Layers. I tried GIMP for Windows but get some errors every so often so I nuked Gimp. Yes, I'm getting to the question. :-) What is the most popular paint app? Hi. This may not be 100% on topic but I figured this is the best place to ask.I have the Carenado Bonanza and the windows in the VC are semi-transparent (toned and reflective). It looks nice but they overdid it so the outside world is too dark through the windows in VC view. I assume the VC window textures are normal textures with the Alpha channel added? What program can I use to change the "intensity" of the alpha blend to make the windows more transparent?
