Hi AllI read the help file in DXTBmp regarding the different file formats.I understand most of it but I would like to know what you long time painters/re-painters use.Do you use different formats for different jobs?Are there "real world" advantages of some formats over others?For simple re-paints is 565 a good choice or DXT1?ThanksFaxCap

HiI am new to repainting, I am currently repainting my first project, I have been modifying the stock 2004 lear45_T file which seems reasonably straightforward, however there is a file called lear45_t1 which contains the windows and lots of other parts such as wings, some of which seem duplicated on lear45_T however no matter how I edit this lear45_t1 file it seems to make no difference to the aircraft in the flightsim. Perhaps somebody could explain the purpose of this file.Thanks.Oh yes, another query.... I just repainted a Feelthere CRJ and the 3 BMP files I worked on do not show up in FS9! I know I need to convert them into the right .BMP format for FS9. Can someone point me in the correct direction?Pete

I have just painted a UPS cargo plane and ended up copying the logo from a picture. The font is close to Arial so I just typed that in.I am now working on a British Airways (Union) paint and I am not sure how to paint the logo and the fonts are not standard. Any help greatly appreciated.Mark.

Hi all, I have spent about 3 days getting know the Abacus Aircraft Repaint program and what an amazing program it is. Here is my problem and I know there are alot of you awsome painters out their. I have made a new Variation of the Lear jet 45 with full custom colors. If you load the textures for the lear you will notice the big white space on the top of the screen in the texture edit menu which is the fuesalge. There are no windows on this and there is no left or right but I have successfully painted the whole aircraft. When I tried to apply the TEXT using the Text editing tool I noticed the text appears the right way on the left side of the jet and on the other side it…

I'm new to Avsim, but not to FS, I'm working on repaints for some of the Heli's and I really want to repaint the R22 in FS2004, I'm looking for a little help in the way of a paint kit?, I've downloaded a few repaints for the R22, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how they were accomplished, Please help.Thank you, KandaceP.S. I am new to aircraft painting and have got the basics figured out to paint a UPS Cargo plane. My only question now is how do I get rid of the windows. As an example, I downloaded the PSS A330 paint kit and painted up the UPS cargo plane but now it has windows. I have tried to cover up what I thought looked like windows but it did not work. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.Mark.

Hi allI have a problem in that when I am painting textures, everytime I re open a texture for further editing and then resave it as a DXT3, I notice a gradule degradation of that texture, so if I edit the texture 5-6 times during a repaint it eventually ends up quite fuzzy. Would anyone know how to prevent this.Clive

I want to edit the night lighting mask (texture) on a couple of AI Freighters (747-200F) to take out the window lights. The textures look great in the day, but at night they have PAX lighting. I figured I could just erase the side lighting except for the door portals. I tried to open the texture in Adobe Photoshop and it did not recognize the format. I opened it in Paint Shop Pro, and I did not get what I thought I was going to. (the format was really messed up). Can someone give me a little instuction on how I might accomplish this? (First, how do I open the texture to view it?)Dennis
