The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here. Please follow image posting rules (below). Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).
Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

I like the JF DC-6, but it is far too clean and shiny as it comes, so it was time to get the digital hammer out. Here's some pics of my work in progress on giving the Just Flight DC-6 a more contemporary look with some dents and ripples on the skin in order to make it suitable for some latter-day airline repainting: Al

All looked fine on another beautiful departure out of my current favorite airport Bella Coola. fsx_2012_04_04_01_02_47_119 by styckxx, on Flickr Then the oil temp warning lights lit up, I rushed to open the doors on both engines and reduce my airspeed. Saved the left but the right puked.. Feathered her, tried restarting... She's toast.. fsx_2012_04_04_01_09_49_662 by styckxx, on Flickr My destination was way to far out to trust one engine and the closest airport was 22 miles away.. Bella Coola where I just departed from.. Having absolutely ZERO experience in a engine out situation on a twin prop I failed miserably on my first approach and aborted.. To…

Repaint has been uploaded to the Avsim library, and should be available once they go through the next batch update. I started with USAir in 1989, when the red and blue trim was just starting to come on line. Perhaps I'm a little biased, but few airlines looked better than a fresh clean USAir paint job. Too bad they didn't stay polished and shiny for very long after we pushed them out the door :)

Hey guys, For this post, I thought I'd try to graphically answer how painters (who've been doing it for a while) seem to paint so fast and accurately. DISCLAIMER: For all the other painters out there, the methods I'll demonstrate are how I paint, and while I know there are always different (and probably better) ways to do some things...these methods are how I stumble through a paint. While I'll gladly take all suggestions to do it faster while maintaining the fidelity I require of my paints, this is just a look into the painting world for those who've never painted, but wondered how its done. So, most of my paints start when get a request to paint something. For…

Details, details….. I’m my last post I showed you a little of how we paint within flightsim. This post, I’ll show you some of the things we have to contend with while painting in a virtual world. The subject today is about how the tiniest details can make or break a paintjob. While doing a final QA (Quality Assurance) on the KLM paint, I noticed as I was panning around it that I was getting some texture artifacts on the paint…see screenshot below. As it turns out, this is a result of trying to save some file size bytes by using the compression format known as DXT. In case you ever wondered, DXT files are compressed versions of a BMP (bit map) file any program uses t…

I used the same techniques to paint this one in less than 30 mins. :Just Kidding: Granted this one is not too tough, but since all I had to do was turn off a few layers and add the Air D logos on the fuse and tail, it actually took longer to move the masters to the 4 texture maps than it did to paint it. :LMAO: I think I've taken care of our German simmers for now...I'll get to another part of the world soon. :) Regards, Steve Dra

on my approach to SUX via NBD to RWY 35 there were some low level clouds and as I made my way to the rwy the cloud deck began to lower, slowly...and as you can see my tail began to show, then the rest of the plane simply and slowly began to emerge from the clouds. The last one covers the rollout...

One thing I love doing is loading up the Orbx KMZ files in Google earth and just picking a random airport and seeing what's out there. Today I picked to fly out of Stewart B.C. and was reminded just how beautiful this planet we live on is.. Even in virtual form. Yes, I took off with the wind at my back. I was being particularly lazy during this flight. :)

Now that the Space Shuttles are making their way to their final resting spots, I thought Id post a few shots. This is the Endevour on top a 747. In X-plane, if you hit the space bar, they will seperate. I must have accidentally hit the spacebar at some point during the flight, because it was gone when I landed (lol). On instant replay I saw that I had done just that, and it glided off into a mountain side. No where did that shuttle go? Maybe Moonraker stole it? :Hypnotized: Good thing I dont work for NASA! Rob

Painting this one for a friend, talking about missing Eastern in Aharon's post...boy do I miss this livery filling the sky too: (and of course TWA, Braniff, NWA, etc) Count myself fortunate to be old enough to have flown on both EAL and PAA. Paining this on the iFly FSX 736. If anyone else wants her let me know and I'll either email it to you or may eventually upload her. Regards, Steve Dra
