FLY for Mac Users Forum
If you are a Macintosh owner and use FLY, then this is the forum for you!
Lake Tahoe September, 2002 |
This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

To all,Richard Harvey's final post is up in the main forum. Reading it, I feel equal measures of sadness at his impending death and joy at his remarkable example of the strength of the human spirit.Sincerely,Franklin------------------------------Franklin TesslerDP 800Fly! for Mac Co-moderator

(edited to anchor)Well, the day has finally arrived (better late than never). After a very rough and bumpy year, the Fly! Beta team is very proud to announce the imminent release and availability of the "final" Fly! II patch. I have just released the files to the AVSIM crew, and hopefully they will be appearing in the file libraries in the next 24 hours. The final version has been tagged 2.50.240. This patch is for both PC and Macintosh users (another victory!). If you want to prepare your machines for the patch, here's what you need to do. For PC users, you need to already be patched to version 2.00.210 or higher (so, all of those already on patch 230 are fine). If you a…

I am looking to see where I can pickup a copy of any one of the Fly! sims for my iMac G5. I have heard of people selling on eBay, but they require an account. Are there any other resources for Mac users to pickup a copy of Fly!, Fly!2k, or Fly! II ?Thanks, Tom C

Hi, The Fly! II final patch for the Mac, 2.50.240, seems to have disappeared from the web. Does anybody still have this, and can you make it available? Also, the Fly! II Globe Update patch that fixed coastlines on the English Channel, the Mediterranean, and West Africa only came as a Windows exe. Does anyone have the updated globe.pod after the patch is applied? Thanks.

I am inquiring if anyone has been able to get the ROTW Mustang to work on a Mac. I have found a thread dating back to Mar. 10 2003 that Matt Horridge was looking for testers for the Mac version. Does anyone know what has become of this project? Thanks, Mike

I just installed Fly! II and got the updated patch but when I try to fly the plane the controls don't work. I have the wingman extreme joystick by Logitech. When I try quick start, the plane just drives around in circles and I can't take off. I need help very badly and I would appreciate it a lot!! Thank you so much!

G'day all,I have today uploaded a version of the Beaver for Macintosh computers.Unfortunately you can't land on water as we need a Mac programmer who can make DLL's for the Mac.I couldn't find it yet so allow a day or so for the library volunteers to put it into the system. If you do download then make sure it is the Mac version and not the PC version that you download.Cheers,Roger

I just want to take the opportunity after being offline for several months to thank everyone you kept developing and releasing all those nice scenery and aircraft for Mac the past weeks/months. It is always great to see that Mac is not left behinf totally although the development of aircraft is limited due to the missing dlls.I

I have just posted (or uploaded) my first application for calculating the Pressure and Density Altitude. Its called 'PDACalc - The Pressure and Density Altitude Calculator'.Its a Beta release and specifically written for Macintosh computers. It should run on Mac OS X 10.2 and later. I programmed and developed it on an iMac G5 running Mac OS X 10.4.5.It should be available in the "Miscellaneous Files -- General Utilities" catagory of the AvSim File Library. Its freeware, so check it out and let me know what you think.Aloha'sThomas C.

I've converted to a P4 and FS2004 as there are more scandinavian facilities and addons there. I've been waiting a long time and finally I found a local store who built a special computer to fit FS2004. Se below in signature. I'll still be watching what happens here.I might try to get Fly!II for Win, if it's still avaiable. And som addon to convert scenery from FS to Fly!. I'll check that later on a suitable forum. I won't fly so much on my old Mac, but I still use it for some e-mail and word-processing, as I don't have all the software i need for Win.I would have seen a developed Fly! because som features are better on Fly! X-Plane probably is just as good as FS but there…
