Hi all, I'm using Striking Software's TNCM, and the scenery was intentionally set up with "inland brown" in some parts of Simpson Bay Lagoon. Here is a thread already on the subject: http://www.strikingsoftware.com/forum/index.php?topic=1652.0 Personally, I'd prefer to have something blue showing up in the lagoon instead of that brown color. Otherwise, I think I like the rest of the Striking Software waterclass. I looked into creating my own waterclass file to sit on top of the Striking Software waterclass to adjust the color of the water in the lagoon. Hi all, This is for FS2004. I'm attempting to add an effect to a tower's antenna. What I've done is create a box located at the top and run the attachtool script in GMax to attempt to attach it. I want the effect to show in dawn, dusk and night. I must not be doing it right since nothing is showing. First question: Is there a way to view an effect outside of FS2004? I have amassed over 700 files in my effects folder. How do I know which ones to use for a red light on the top of a tower? Second question: If I want the light to show in dawn, dusk and night, how do I fill in multiple parameters in the parameters area? Do I use a semi-colon between each (e.g. DAWN=1;DU…

I have read that Runway 12 functions well with FSX. Installed the subject app and when I try to "Generate Scenery" I get an error message that reads: "An unhandled exception occurred in your application. .............................................. etc. Length cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: length " Is there a work around for this or did I do something incorrectly during installation? I haven't used this program for so long that it could also be operator error. Any tips regarding setup / usage with FSX will be appreciated. I need to rid the Cargo tarmac at TXKF of a stray building and an equipment structure. Thank you, Ken

Hi, im starting using the SbuilderX following video tutorials, im working in the scenery of my city Punta Arenas in Chile. My first problem: when I go to "go to position" and put the coordinates from punta arenas (53° 10′ 1″ S, 70° 56′ 1″ W) SbuilderX says "check your entries". Second when I put a coordinate that works I cant click on "show background". I tried to register in the fsdeveloper forum but it says for reasons of IP I cant. Sorry for my english.

Hi, I have been trying to make a fairly good freeware scenery of my local airport but I just can't seem to get things to cooperate. Right now I am in the process of designing the main buildings on the airport. I can do a lot of them but there are a few that have some more complex designs. If anyone would like to help out I can provide any pictures needed. I will be moving onto the actual layout design of the airport after I can get the buildings done. I've also looked into some programs that will allow me to make some good night textures and other airport textures when I get there so I am hoping I (or we) can get a pretty good looking airport! The easiest way i found to do it is by folowing these steps: 1. DXTBmp.exe batch process to convert textures to DDS 2. Photoshop Automation to edit textures (using Nvidia Plug-in) 3. DXTBmp.exe batch process to convert textures back to DXT1 Is this right ? Or... is there another/easier way to do it ?

I have several free-ware and pay-ware sceneries that I've noticed have trees appearing in the middle of lakes as well as in the middle of roads with cars going through them. It gets annoying seeing these graphical errors and I was wondering if possible, what would be the best way to remove these trees and clear up those areas? Also, what would be the best tool to work on these sceneries? Thank you for your help! P.S. Most of these tree anomolies are not near an airport, though.

Good day, In doing some Google searches this morning, I haven't found many reviews or comments on the Instant Object Studio package being sold by Flight1. I was hoping that some of you good folks have had a bit of experience using the product and can share your thoughts on it. I'm not looking to design anything overly complex - primarily just some generically textured warehouses, industrial, and office buildings which will sit comfortably over photoreal scenery for now. Hello Avsim, I was wondering if there is a way to tweak individaul scenery locations. When at an airport like KHOU, in the NGX with freeware add-on scenery I downloaded from the file library, I recieve 50-70 fps. When I get to airport like KMDW with the Fly Tampa package installed I get around 25fps in the NGX. I realize there are more scenery files to load at higher reolutions ect, but I was hoping I could tweak just that induvidual area, and not the whole world. If anyone has some good tips to tuning/tweaking add-on scenery please let me know! Thanks in advance. The "Tips and Tricks" forum is a place for answers, not questions.

Hi all, I am trying to correct the 34L ILS at KJAN in FS9. It is about 20'-40' off to the right side. I have tried AFCAD & Airport Design Editor. Although I can create the file & it is going to /addon/scenery folder, the changes do not show. When I reopen the AF_KJAN.bgl file created, the changes are there just nos showing in FS. The addon folder is defenitly active because every time I reopen FS the scenery library does it's little update. Any help on this would be appretiated. Pat Callaghan

Hello, I'm trying to remove autogen buildings from the commercial Mega Amsterdam in FSX. Following the advice by Meshman sometime ago I took on SbuilderX for this task. The problem can be seen here: and here: These autogen buildings pop up in EHAM only when I use custom european land class packages, either from Scenery Tech or Cloud9 (though in different locations on the field). When I remove them from the library, the autogen buildings also go off in EHAM completely. I don't know yet if GEX can be a factor in this, I have it installed too, but I doubt it. Since I wanted to continue using LC from SceneryTech I started reading and playing with Sbu…

I am having a problem with fx_SmokeStack2.fx. I can place it anywhere but it won't display in a flight unless I go to "World->Scenery Library" and uncheck or check any existing area (apart from the area containing the effect placement). On return to the flight, the smoke is displayed. I am using FSX Acceleration on two machines, one running XP Pro and the other W7 64bit. Both systems exhibit the same effect. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. George

Hello, I recently purchased SimSavvy and would like to add autogen around the 70 or so airports that I fly to regularly. I would like to do this using my laptop and not my main FSX PC. I have everything installed on the laptop correctly to generate the autogen using either SBuilderX or Annotator w/ the FSX SDK. What I'm wondering is can I build a project in SBuilderX using it's downloaded images, add autogen to it, and then get just the autogen from that and add those to my SimSavvy scenery on my FSX PC? Or, I can generate the photoreal scenery bgl from SBuilderX and then use the annotator to add autogen to that bgl file created from SbuilderX. This I know create…

I have updated some FS2004 sceneries for FSX, but since I run FSX SP1, I have no idea how they will look in FSX native and FSX SP2 - I wondered if anyone was willing to test them for me and give me a bit of feedback? Hello, AMS Cancun for FSX was released a couple weeks ago and while I like what they have done with the airport, they didn't do the island of Isla Mujeres any justice. After waiting for a decent Cancun for so long and that they documented Isla Mujeres coverage, I am pretty disappointed with their effort. Since the airport looks good, I doubt another developer is going to take on the area in the future. I have decided I need to fix the area myself. I've been using ADE, AFX, AFCAD... for a long time and I use Esri products on a regular basis so I think I can make it happen. hello, to have more realty in the simulation I compile the approaches looking at real approach charts. But I found that if the IAF(initial approach fix) is a waypoint or a terminal waypoint the transition will not appear during the pilot transition choise to obtain it from ATC . It's written in the FS2004sdk that it's possible to have as IAF a waypoint or a terminal_waypoint but it doesn't work. I tryed just for test to install in the same position of the IAF waypoint a NDB. In my approach compiling I changed only the fixType. With a NDB as IAF the Transition appears and everything works properly. Anybody can explain to me the why of this approach behaviour? Gi…

I would like to know if default FS9 airport terminals can be ported over to FSX? I would like to take the "Medium Airports" file, of which the textures were modified by Chris Arrington (AEU7) and use it in FSX. I realize the texture draw in FS9 is not dds but was wondering if DXT would convert those textures. But first, is the FS9 bgl convertible to FSX and if so, how is that done? IMHO, the default airport terminals leave a lot to be desired. Thanks

Say I wanted to start creating my own airport scenery. -starting with the ground tiles- 1. I would take screenshots on google earth 2. Very close topdown screenshots- so when I put them all together its very high resolution from above and at a close distance as well. 3. Put all the screenshots together of the airport and make one big big topdown picture. (very time consuming, but seems worth the while) This seems like I could make a very high quality airport doing it this way. but I just need some VERY detailed instructions on how I would put this into FSX and so it would overlap the airport and the runway would line up with the one underneith.
