Greetings! I have some programming experience but am new to guage design. I was hoping to begin playing with guage construction and was wondering if anybody here knows a good resource to help me get started. Ideally I'd like to program in VB as the project I have in mind will require some complex algorithms, but I really don't know where to start in terms of the various system variables, function calls, etc. available. Any pointers would be appreciated.Thanks,Philip.

Are there any Midwest Express fan painters out there that could repaint the stewart-global md-80 in the current midwest express paint scheme. Please e-mail me if you've got an interest.

Hello, I recently downloaded some DXT3 textures for the Flight1 C421 Golden Eagle and I was amazed at how much better the sim ran! I would like to convert all the flightsim aircraft to DXT3 textures and was wondering if anyone knew of any good tutorials out there. Robert

Hi All, I some time ago stumbled on a series of web pages where some one explained the necessary steps in order to "import" the MDL of a plane into gMax. Unfortunately, I have no recollection on the necessary tools needed and the steps to perform. Even worse, I cannot find the page again. Does anyone know how to do this? With thanks in advance :-wave

For those who have constantly asked about how to make an aircraft in Gmax, visit the following site http://www.simviation.com/gryphon/tutorials/gMax_00.htmThe aircraft is from WWII, but the principles are the same. It does take time to load each page, it gives you the basics for aircraft design.

Hi again! I'm currently trying to do some flight dynamics editing and boy is it a tedious task or what! I really need some help playing with the figures in AirED and I was wondering if there is anything out there which may assist in explainig what each variable does.Anyway, I have a couple of questions. First, do the properties in the aircraft.cfg override those in the air file?Second, my autothrottle is acting up. I think it's too sensitive. It can't hold the speed properly but instead keeps increasing and decreasing the throttle, resulting in that airspeed oscillating problem. How do I correct this?I would appreciate your help. Thanks!:) Melvin Rafiwww.meljet.com

In your opinion, who does the most unique repaints for MS2002?

Designers, have you had any problems when exporting a gmax scene which has a part/material with the name "light_strobe" or "light_beacon" using the version of MakeMDL that came with the FS2002 Pro CD (8.00.010912.01)?"light_land" works fine. Can you guys give any help? Thanks!:) Melvin Rafiwww.meljet.com

Hi!As you maybe know, I'm working on a TBM700 Panel.Gauge-programming is running fine, but what I want to change is the background bitmap of the panel. I've made it out of some pictures and have reworked it with MS Paint. But I also want to have those shodows and all those other special things, which make the panel much more real! But this is not possible with MS Paint. What Graphic programm is best for making panels with all those special effects like shadows, reflexions etc...Just tell me your programm you're using and maybe some tipps and tricks!Best regards,Harry

UAD is looking for very talented GMax model, and animators with no other projects in the way. We are hiring designers to complete the MD80 series production line.We need the designers to just finish up the gear, gear doors, PAX doors, cargo doors, tail stairs forward work stairs, and all animations. The wings and tail are already completed we just need to animate them.I will keep informed on what else has been done and what needs to be done as soon as i recieve the model from our designer that will no longer be working on the MD80 family.reply via UAD Forums or here in this post.Thank You!ALEX UAD

Is anyone familiar with any AI radar gauges? I'll looking for a freeware one, circular in shape, preferably with no bezel or frame, and if I had a choice, with green graphics. Thank in advance.

Have any of you guys tried exporting your aircraft with the version of MakeMDL that came with the MS MakeMDL SDK (8.00.020403.01). When I use that version, my aircraft becomes invisible. On the other hand, when I use the one that came with the FS2002 Pro CD (8.00.010912.01), I have no problems - BUT - whenever I export a part with a name and/or material such as light_strobe, MakeMDL complains that it can't find itself and the export to MDL fails. Can anyone shed some light on this? I need to create a strobe in GMax so that I can link it to the flexing wing.:) Melvin Rafiwww.meljet.com

I've been tweaking a panel and have run into a problem. The panel .bmp requires the attitude indicator to be placed slightly off the panel -- about 20% of the gauge hangs below the panel. Unfortunately, in FS2002, this makes the gauge read incorrectly. I've experimented a little, and it seems the more the gauge is off the panel, the worse the error. Is there a way around this, aside from creating a whole new panel?

Does anyone have a set? There are plenty of 727 cockpit/panel views over at airliners.net (104 to be exact) but the vast majority are taken from a central position behind the pilots and those that aren't are taken out of the front windscreen. The overall perspective from a pilot's point of view would be much different. The few views distributed with the existing freeware panels I've seen are not accurate for this aircraft.Stan V.

As some may have noticed, I am currently working on a humble project which I may like to release. I am currently using someone elses air file, and attempting to contact them for permission to release with it. If I am unlucky, I was wondering if there might be a talented person that would be willing to assist in creating one for a nimble little homebuilt. Thanks in advance!Bob C.

Hi Everyone,I've tried so many times to do reflective textures on my software. I don't use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. I've learnt to use Fireworks for most of my 2D-style graphics needs over the years. I was wondering if anyone knows of a program out there that one can get to do the alpha channel sequence without the need for Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro? Also, what's the requirement on file naming with the _T in the filename, etc? I've read confusing posts regarding the use of this, whether it's required or not. I am aware of the "hasReflectMap" option in makeMDL needing to be enabled. If someone could point me in a possible direction that would be great. Thanks,Rot…

Seeing all these cool repaints and designs made me want to try my hand at some of my own plane paints. How do I go about doing this? I have Jasc Paintshop Pro 7.0 and Adobe Photoshop 6.0. Do I just open them up and paint?

Hi allI have done many repaints of various aircraft over the past 2 years and am wanting to do some work on the default Boeng 747-400, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to rename the "name plate" on the side of the FS2K2 default B747...everytime I try to do something with it, it ends up being a black or bright green oblong on the side of the aircraft. I know that I'm missing some conversion steps here. Can anybody point me to a tutorial that will explain exactly how this is done.Frustrated!!CheersGus
