Eugene made the chalange and we are talking about specifying a module that will allow to play sounds in XML gauges. The alpha package is done but still need inputs. How does this works. The package is a module that interfaces XML gauges with direct sound and a program called convert. How to use it:Put the wav that you want to play in the fs sound dir (no more than 8 letters). Run the convert program and put the file name in it (without the .wav). Take a note of the number that the program gives.ReadSoundChar = 1 will prepare the program to read the filename. After reading the file the dll will return a number in this var telling the program what is the wave index number.Sou…

Hi can anyone help me?I am doing my final major project for my degree in Transport Design and i'm going to design a Cessna cockpit for the year 2015. THe deadline is February 2005.I'm going to build a full size mockup linked to FS2004.I'd like to make a PFD screen but have no clue how to as i have no programming experience. SOmeone mentioned about a programme calld GDI plus, which i downloaded but can't make sense of it. It doesn't seem to work. AHHH!!If you think you can point me in the right direction then reply here or e-mail me at [email protected], Mark

I would like to detect the rate at which a variable is changing and react to the rate, as opposed to the number in the variable. For instance, if I adjust the throttle too quickly, I would like to make another user defined variable dependant upon the rate it is increased, but if the throttle is adjusted slowly, there would be no impact on the second variable.Any thoughts?Steve

Fisrt glance is why stop a starter?Well I do not want the starter (and associated default sounds) to function at all when the master battery switch is off on a Turboprop aircraft. The KingAir350, C208 and the 747 will all initiate starter and associated sounds without ANY power applied to the panel, so I am trying to prevent this from happening in my aircraft.Any hints?

Hey all,Has anyone ever done any work which relates to modifying the FS9 GPS DTK(Desired Track)? It seems to be "hard wired" to the course between the previous waypoint and the next waypoint. I have not been able to find any GPS var (assuming one even exists) which can modify the default track, although it can be read with (A:GPS WP DESIRED TRACK,xxx). I know many GPS systems can do this in a similar way to an OBS.Anyone?--Jon

Hi, all.I am trying to create a simple gauge that will display things like aircraft heading, speed, and altitude. My goal is to have something I can refer to in the virtual cockpit to overcome issues of gauge refresh rate and clarity.I created a gray (600x30) bmp that I will use as the background in my test. I put this and the "Quickstrip" xml file into a directory called "Quickstrip" under gauges.I am referencing this new gauge from the panel.cfg like so:---[Window08]size_mm=600,30position=1background_color=0,0,0visible=0ident=12345gauge00=Quickstrip!Quickstrip,600,30---and here is the actual code for the gauge:<Gauge Name="Quickstrip" Version="1.0" Author="Shawn Clic…

This file contained a postwar version of the Liberty Ship (i.e. no guns) and a revised aircraft.cfg for my WWII version. Some people have noticed that, after installing the revised aircraft.cfg, their WWII ships are now cruising a lot slower. This was intentional. The original WWII version was cruising at 25 kts. However, the real ships cruised at a maximum of 11 kts. So I changed the thrust setting from static_thrust = 180000tostatic_thrust = 125000If you want your speedy ship back, just change that line from 125000 to 180000 - or whatever value you want.Enjoy!Captain Phil

When I add the old modules section to the fs9.cfg file, I start FS9 and I lose the entry. I shut down FS9, and the entry is gone.Am I missing a key point. Also, does this relate to a problem I am having with my panel. I am using a panel that uses Marciano's A330 with the realcrt gauges. The main gauge has gauges within it. When I select one of the gauges, FS9 says it cannot be loaded when I start the panel.Any help?Brian

The SDK discusses a byte value (0..255) that represents the current environment lighting (adjusted for time of day, sun elevation, moonlight). This value is used to colorize or tint the panels as a scale factor.Does anybody have any idea as to where this value can be found?

tip : the FS9.cfg can use XML commands directly in the Joysticks section !!! The commands donot show up in the UI for use nor do they show up in the UI if using a command that is not in the list. But it DOES work !! Did not try L:vars though, doesnt really look like it would as the commands mimick format. Hello together,The virtual cockpit is a nice addition in FS, but in most addons it is not usable, as the framerate of the gauges (not the framerate of FS while using the virtual cockpit!) is poor. Also you may have 30 FPS while sitting in the 3d cockpit, the instruments look like a gif animation. For me, that was a show stopper. While developing the DA-20 Katana, I spent some time to find a way for fluent moving needles, attitude indicators and compass cards

Project Fokker's F70/100, PA's A320 - and by the sounds of it PMDG's 737 series - are fairly efficient through the air especially when descending. Some a/c on the other hand do sow up very quickly when the throttles are idled back, even when descending. Is there a way to make them a little more slippery? I'm assuming it would be in the CFG file. I'm not real clever at this kind of stuff. Just wondering if it could be done to make some a/c a little more realistic.

I have searched all over the web for a decent MC-130, but can only find one. No offense to the developer, but it flys like a drunk pig. Would anyone be interested in creating one? I have attached what the MC looks like as reference.ThanksDavid Keech, VUSAF

Hi all, I'm newbie in xml gauge editing. I'm currently editing a xml gauge with gps map showing navaids on the ND/MFD.what i do isadding the values below to the line CustomDraw Name="fs9gps:map" X=.......:LayerTerrain="No" LayerBorders="No"ColorLayerVORs="0x00FF33"ColorLayerNDBs="0x00FF33"ColorLayerIntersections="0x00FF33" ***OK, everythings works fine, the map view is simply black background with navaids displayed in green. My problem is, NOT all the intersections are displayed in green. in fact most of them remain blue, while some of them, which are part of a jetway/airway are in green. Is there anything I'm missing?? (YEA, i'm editing cj's panel)BTW, I see some post in t…

I'd like to program a blinking string (I searched and found a good post, but I pretty much know how to do this anyway), and I have one small question. If I record a time_start and measure the time elapsed since time_start was set (eg elapsed_seconds - time_start > 0.5 ), I could get a problem when elapsed seconds overflows and restarts at 0. Does anyone know what the maximum value ELAPSED_SECONDS can reach (it's a float in the panel, so the max should be so high that I don't have to worry about it, but that does not mean that it's float in FS itself, it could just be UINT16, which isn't very large at all). I think TICK18 is a UINT16, so one really has to check here, but…

Hi all,Got my 3D throttle levers to work in VC view OK. The start position and movement length of the hand cusor changes as I move around the cockpit. The gauge sits on the horizontal panel part under the levers.Ref code, (M:Y) (*Get Y*) -85 - (*skip top runof*) 30 / (*divide by running height*) 0 max 1 min (*into [0-1]*) 1 - /-/ (*from bttom to top*) 1 (A:Throttle lower limit, part) s0 - * l0 + (*apply lower limit*) 16384.0 * (*KEY_THROTTLE1_SET requires 16k*) (>K:THROTTLE1_SET) (A:Autopilot throttle arm, bool) if{ 1 (>K:AUTO_THROTTLE_ARM) }Changing the -85 - (*skip top runof*) 30 / (*divide by running height*) values alters the start position and the movement…

Is it possible to create a three way momentary switch that will stay in place as long as you're holding a mouse click to it, but when you release, the switch will return to it's center detent? I have a momentary switch set up already for trim adjustments, but it repeats when holding... I'd like it to stay in the positive or negative positions whith a "click hold" and then return to center when released. Anyone mastered this one yet? Here's an example of what I have now:(L:Stab trim switch, enum)(P:Absolute time, seconds) (L:Stab trim timer, seconds) > if{ 0 (>L:Stab trim switch, enum) }(>K:ELEV_TRIM_DN) -1 (>L:Stab trim switch, enum) (P:Absolute time, sec…

OkI need to add 2 A variables together (Ambient Wind and Ambient Temp) and input them to an L:Var. and then added to a gauge readout. This addition is only valid when certain parameters are present. Easy so far.Problem is, when they (the L:Var) are added to the gauge, there is an instantaneous jump in the needle as they get added to the readout, and an instantaneous drop when they are subtracted. So, my poor brain not being as tuned as I would like, needs to figure out a way of adding them slowly, to make the needle move up or down gradually, as opposed to jumping to reflect the addition of the new variable.I thought of a counter system (based on the update frequency) of …

Hi,after installing the recent patch, I couldn't use the Visual Studio debugger (VC++6.0) any more. Fs9 exits with a notice "debugger detected" or similar. Has anybody else experienced this? lped myself by reinstalling the old FS9.exe with NoCd-Crack.Arne Bartels
