Hello all...Complete, absolute newbie to this task so I thought I'd ask advice from the pros here. I'm wanting to edit the interior of a freeware, Gmax aircraft's VC view. Can one do that with FSDS having only the files supplied with the download, or are there some type of 'source' files I would need from the author first?Thank you very muchAllen

I have another laymans question. What is the syntax for "less then or equal to" in XML? In the SDK it says <= but that is not right and in the XMLGAU01.rtf that you wrote it is <=;, this does not appear to work either. When I open this with XMLPad it gives me a:A semi colon character was expected. ((A:GENERAL ENG PROPELLER LEVER POSITION:4, part) 0 ;) ((A:GENERAL ENG PROPELLER LEVER POSITION:2, part) 1 >=;) ||Right after the "lt"If this has been covered elsewhere here I am sorry, I looked but could not find any reference.ThanksMitch

Hi there,This is my first attempt at xml and I am quite lost. I would like to program a gauge that will play a sound (via Doug Dawson's XML sound 2) when the following conditions are met :1. Aircraft on ground2. autobrake RTO3. Ground speed >=10 knotsthis sound must also only play once. Can anyone please help me to get started.thanks in advancePaul

I have been building a panel for a Rutan Boomerang, and it is nearly finished. I am having some attacks of "I'll just add this..." and the latest thing is a somewhat realistic boot sequence for the Mac that is used as the main instrument panel.I am using an XML gauge to mock up the boot screens of Mac OSX, and I have set it to overlap the main flight instruments. I have made a small logic code to control this:(L:Mac_runstate, enum) 0 == if{0 (>L:Mac_run, bool)0 (>L:Mac_Boot_timer, seconds) } (A:Circuit General Panel On, bool) ! if{0 (>L:Mac_runstate, enum)0 (>L:Mac_Boot_timer, seconds) } els{(L:Mac_runstate, …

Hi,I've just downloaded (from this site) and installed into FS2004 a huey model (helicopter) that I'm able to select (including 3 paint jobs). I can fly it around just fine, but when I go to spot plane view the rotors aren't turning...can anyone help me get these turning? My plan is to use FS2004 to replay flight data, and it just looks ridiculous to see a helo flying around with fixed blades.Oh, and closed doors would be nice too....Cheers,Kris

Hi all Is there a plugin that will let gmax load in an ascii type .x file? If there is I would like to use it as I find gmax incredibly difficult to use. With .x files I can do any fuselage in 30 minutes. After trying gmax not sure I could do one in 30 yearsThanksChuck

An FS2004 variable is INCIDENCE BETA. Anyone know what it means? I have found a beta gauge on the internet and the face is marked L and R. Is this something to do with rate of turn, I wonder.Thanks,Nick.

All I want to do is to place a single gauge in the large blank area on the right hand side of the default C172/C182 VC panel. It is a nice BIG blank space and it just cries out for some gauges to be added to it.Help!! :)Thanks for any help Barry

This post is also in the developers forum because of a problem that became related to this problem. When I turn on all of the lights of the Default Lear 45, the plane vanishes from the outside view. I only see the lights suspended in space and the pilots sitting in the air. I think it may have something to do with the lighting effects, possibly another add-on ?. I tested by turning off all lighting in the Lear 45, everything looks normal in outside views. I then turned on one light switch at a time until I had the problem with the planes body vanishing. (Landing Lights -OK), (Taxi Lights - OK), (Strobe Lights - body vanishes in sync with the strobe), (Recognition Lights…

When in cockpit or VC view, and I flick the view from side to side I hear the engine sound move from one side to the other with default and addon aircraft. In my aircraft the sound stays centered. How do I get the panning effect. What I have noticed is this. My stereo sounds are louder for the channel relating to the engine on that side. That is, the right channel is louder for the right engine and vise versa. Other planes that use stereo sounds, and have ban and bbn files (for left and right engines) are the same volume for each channel. I wonder if this is the reason? Thanks,Nick.

I use the terrain view code from the GPS cab file to show the terrain in my MFD. It used to have nice detail showing all the terrain ridges and shadow. I had to reinstall FS2004 and now the terrain is just a bunch of small blurry rectangles. How can I get the good quality graphics back? I've played with a lot of sliders, but now I'm lost. Thanks, Nick.

I'm currently accepting applications for a Graphic Artist to create BMPs for gauges (and perhaps do some Web Site work). This is a casual, on-demand type position.Experience creating Flight Simulator graphics would be an asset. Renumeration to be discussed. Please email your application to:[email protected] include two recent samples of your work and your expectations with respect to compensation.Thank you,Bryan York

Does linking parts to parent parts have any effect on rendering speed? I am thinking about adding animation to a whole series of parts, but don't want to cause a massive drop in the rendering speed of the whole model. Thanks,Phil

Greetings!Elementary question: What does the asterisk (*) in front of many AirEd entries mean? E.g. " *Engine Type = 1 "Perhaps an obsolete feature by now? But for the life of me I can't find the explanation in the Help page, nor on various fora. Wanna know, drives me crazy! :-)Thanks in advance for a clarification!Cheers,Martin

I would like to modify the flight dynamics of the stock FS2004 R22 to be more realistic. Specifically:1. I would like to make it respond more acurately to rotor torque in a hover. IE: when you increase power or collective it should yaw the nose to the right requiring more left pedal input and yaw left with a decrease in power/collective. It should also slightly loose altitude with increased power/collective and increase altitude with a decrease in power/collective.2. The stock FS2004 R22 is WAY to stable! I need to make it more responsive to control input and reduce it's apparent inertia. I am a student pilot learning to fly the real R22 and I am using FS2004 to help m…

I searched this forum for help with Alpha=Yes for XML gauges and found some discussions but no solutions on creating images that use alpha like the reflection on the turn bank coordinator on the FS2004 DC3 and the reflection on the Vega compass. If you watch the ball in the turn coordinator you can see it though the glass reflection. http://www.daviator.com/alpha.jpgOne user had an image posted but the link was broken. He also mentioned a tutorial but I could not find one.I also read that this is a standard 8-bit image but then why would MS have Alpha=Yes when UseTransparency=Yes would do? Besides when I try to us an 8-bit image I get the same (ugly black border) effect a…

I have an aircraft (jet to be exact) that is a little too sensitive when hitting turbulence. Does anyone know the setting in the aircraft.cfg file and/or '.air' file that I can adjust that would make the aircraft more stable in turbulence??? As things are now, moderate turbulence almost causes my jet to flip upside down... :-hmmm

I prefer virtual cockpits much more than 2d cockpits, due to the realism. However, I have a major problem: the animated yoke in the virtual cockpit sometimes blocks the view of lower instruments. Any genius know how to :(1) Make the virtual yoke completely dissapear in the VC?or (2) At least make the virtual yoke non-animated so it doesn't block the lower instrument panelor (3) Make the virtual yoke transparent?I've come accross lots of fans of virtual cockpits but I'm surprised no one seems to describe this (fairly obvious) problem.Help! :)
