I was just wondering whoever is using the Radeon 9700 card, what settings are you using in the card itself for the open GL and Direct 3D. Anti-aliasing, Anisotopic Filtering, performance or quality, texture preference, mipmap detail level, wait for verticle sync and truform. Just got this card and not being really up on all this stuff, I was wondering what works best for you. I have a P4 2.8 with 1G memory. Thanks

System: 1.1g Athlon, 256meg. ram, GTS, g-gorce 2 video card. Image quality is very good in my opinion, for this particular system. How much improvement can I expect by upgrading my video card to a G-Force4 Ti, 128? Is it worth the upgrade?

I was wondering if you had an opinion about the LV city textures. I was born and raised in LV but moved away in about '84. But it seems to me that the 'city' area as depicted in FS2k2 should be at least twice the size. It has been awhile since I have been back but, I would expect to see some city like texture tiles from maybe the lake to redrock area with GreenValley and Henderson shown (possibly merged together)?I dont know, maybe its me, but LV seems like such a small dot in the valley in FS2k. Who knows, it is possilble that the new land classes coming out will modify this somehow.thanks

Tom,Just wanted to let you know that my computer died several days ago. Lost a lot of original work and downloaded info. TREMENDOUS disapointment! I hope I can recover some of the data.As for the schedules you sent me, I was 75% done with one of them, but unfortunately lost that work. I printed two of the three schedules (United and TWA) so as soon as I get my new hard drive up and operating I'll start over again. Our seventh grandchild was born yesterday so I'm out of town (where this is being printed). Hope to get back to work on them soon.Lesson learned: Back up your work. (A zip drive is next on my purchasing list)!!Check Six !!!!!Rick

Hi,as I am and have always been a gambler when it comes to beta versions I would be willing to install the 9.0 beta. However during the installation it says that the version expires on March 19th and that I would have to reinstall windows if I do not have a beta password and acces the beta website. Can anyone shed some light onto this?Alex

This has been driving me insane for over a year now. On saved flights with a cold cockpit, why when that flight is loaded must the engines take their time "spooling down"?? They weren't on in the first place!!Just a MS thing or is there a fix for this??TIA,mpp.s. also seemed to have lost my prop animations....anybody experience this out of the blue??

There is a servicible freeware seneca in the avsim library by Steve Pilkington...the file is Piper_sen.zip. It may be a little rough around the edges in the visual department, and the panel is not 100% authentic, but it is a great little plane to fly, stable and able to maintain crusing speeds in the 240mph area. Thanks, Steve...I appreciate your work.Sherm

Hi,I have been using British Airway`s Meljet aircraft 747`s which havesuperb graphics but unfortunately the flight dynamics are bad. Theaircraft does not slow in descent mainly. Does anybody know of a similar British Airways jumbo withopening doors, steering nose, etc etc that I can use in its place? The Polsky aircraft are good but the actual aircraft is not thatgood in my opinion. Also wioth landing lights that actually shine! Please advise if you have any ideas. TksJohn

Hey Gang!I am about to load a new OS (Win XP Pro) in my system, and along with this, I will be installing the latest and greatest drivers from Nvidia for the GeForce-2 Ultra card. I think it is the 40.82 drivers. Can anyone tell me if NVMAX works with these drivers or if there is a different utility that would allow me to tweak the settings of my card like Nvmax does? Thanks for any input!Sincerely,Dennis D. Beforehand, if a thread had had zero replies, then the number of views for the thread would also be zero. Apparently this has now been fixed! I recall someone who was very dissatified that "no one viewed his post" and straight after he posted about his dissatisfaction in a reply to the thread, he had something like fifty views...Kitty MercuryCathay Pacific Virtual Pilot (CX252)

Greetings all,Would like to know if the FS brain-trust housed here could help me with a video problem I've encountered. Here's the setupP-IV 1.8Ghz (Sony Viao)XP Home (service pack 1 installed)512MB RamNvidia TNT Riva 32MB using 40.72 driversDirectX 8.1 installed (all diagnostics pass)Strobes, tire smoke on landing, water splashes, engine exhaust, etc. No longer work. Not sure what has changed so am stumped. Strobes sometimes appear as black boxes, sometimes not at all. Interestingly if spot plane view distance is set to greater than 400' strobes appear but still no other effects. I've tried any number of combinations of setting from the display settings menu in FS …

I have both the passenger and cargo versions-fantastic! The Nav 2 DME gauge works just fine in the passenger version, but not in the cargo version-no hot spot to turn it on! Also, when taxing both aircraft continue to increase speed even with my throttle at idle-have to keep appling the brakes, is this how it should be or is my calibration out of whack? Thanks for any help, David

Posts on configuration and CFG file [/p]Not to worry about posts locked, uneditable, or deleted. Remember, if you create a post, save it in ASCII while you have access to it, especially if it's content rich. The publisher of avsim.com has approved posting on general configuration and tuning in the Aircraft and Panel Design forum. I complimented Tom on the professional way in which he handled Opensky's request. Do not worry or complain about deletions, just be sure to save you markup code when posting!! [/p] [/p]Cheers... I currently have:Athlon 1.4GHz512Mb DDR RAMGeForce 3 Ti200I'd like to do a small upgrade either to a faster processor or more RAM. Which would give me the most "bang for my buck"?Windows task manager reckons that virtually all the time, my processor is running at 100% but i'm on average using only 4 5ths of my available physical memory. Would a RAm upgrade actually improve anything in my case?By the way, i don't want a new GPU yet. I'll wait for the GeForce 5!

Locking down posts about change that are made to an aircraft.cfg file, little harsh dont you think Tom?The changes that Gregory mentioned had nothing to do with the FDE as so many have claimed. Every change mentioned can be done to the aircraft.cfg. If POSKY claims that is in violation of their EULA, then every person that uses FS2002 is in violation of editing aircraft.cfg filesRead the post again, the change are to the aircraft.cfg and not the .air file. This is ridiculous, talk about censorship.

It is probably too early to tell, but can anybody comment on which of these series is best as far as realism is concerned - or plus and minuses of both. I am probably not alone, and I am going to purchases either one or the other before too long. I just don't know which one.

Weird Problem! After installing the St. John's scenery, I no longer get the normal 2D view of aircraft panels. Instead the lower 1/3 of the screen contains what appears to be an outside view of the aircraft. Looks like a tower view.Is it possible that TTools or AFCAD or Traffic Mover did something to change the "in-cockpit" 2D display image. Everything worked fine prior to the scenery install.Just curious to know if anyone has experienced a similar problem, and more importantly, how do I get my 2D panel views back. It appears that the Virtual Cockpit view is fine. I tested that out with the Cessna 421 VC, but again, I could not get the 2D panel to display correctly.H…
