  1. I was looking to see what Avsim thought of this new product line coming out. Looks promising to me. The cost is supposed to be around $350 USD for the base units with $99 add-ons. I'm wondering if the throttle axis will be full range (as opposed to the bottom of the range being a button like we've seen in the past). A full range means you could have idle reverse, reverse prop, etc. Thoughts? https://meridiangmt.com/ Gregg
  2. You may be right. I thought the Longitude had the G5000. The Longitude looks like the same package and doesn't have ATK offset and I'd think it would be the same. To me, it's the one big missing piece. Love to see it.
  3. Really looking forward to this one. Also, hoping Working Title implements Along-Track Offset in the G5000. Gregg
  4. Just an update. They took care of my issue and got me a new download. Gregg
  5. Oh, I didn't check spam. GMail spam and trash both delete everything older than 30 days so do I need to wait a certain amount of time before requesting a new one? Gregg
  6. I bought it for FS2020 and got a new PC. I keep asking them for a new download but they haven't answered. Kinda makes me think twice about buying KRDU, which I want. But, if this is the support? Perhaps they should think about selling through folks like Orbx or Contrail. Gregg
  7. That's what I did. Thanks. That gives a FOV of 0.8. I have to say, though, there's a lot to like about the wide FOV. Having looked at it, it gives me pause to think.
  8. I just ran across this thread. I'm flying the Fenix. 55" TV and 32" from the screen I get vFOV at 94 degrees. 94/57.3 = 1.64. Brought up debug mode and my default FOV was about 1.08 (ish) at 50%. I kept scaling my camera zoom all the way down to 10% and got FOV up to about 1.4. That's astonishing that 10% zoom couldn't get up to 1.64! I set up a flight and, weirdly, it looked pretty good. Some things were weird. I seemed far away from the PFD but couldn't really move forward because the dash would block part of the PFD and any adjustment to fix that would have messed up the view outside and enhance a "fishbowl" effect. Leaving my original view was the only real option. Tried a few landings. Have to say, it seemed about right...which again, to me, was very strange. Maybe I did something wrong? Are these setting similar to anyone else? Also, anyone ever hear of "Panini" projection? I wonder if that would help? Gregg
  9. I like the idea of pilot controlled lighting, particularly at uncontrolled airports. What I'd be even more interested is that Asobo would implement runway and approach light brightness as is outlined in the ATC manual. It's not complicated. (And I'm a big fan of the lighting improvements Asobo has already made! Sorely needed!) Gregg
  10. I wonder what the cockpit configuration will be like.
  11. I ask myself, what if you paid real people to do this instead. Gregg
  12. Yes, KBNA. Ugh. I was tired when I posted.
  13. I just spent a week at an apartment on 3 mile final to runway 20R at KNBA. Airliners (B73X, A32X and regional jets) flying over the apartment at about 1,000 feet every 3 to 4 minutes from early morning into the night. I sat on the back deck listening to them approach and then flying overhead and was utterly amazed at the enormous power of the airplanes. It doesn't come across in the sim and not even if you sit at the observation point at the airport. From underneath you hear and feel the immense power and the weight of them all around. It was so cool and gave me a perspective on airliners that I never had before. I highly recommend that you try it if you get the chance! Gregg
  14. Now, if they can please add obstruction lights. That'd be huge!
  15. Yes, I was using the one from the home screen. I'll look up the new one. Thanks for letting me know. I used the ones for Atmos, Enviro...is there another for weather? Yeah, in terms of the GUI, it's pretty bad and I have been scratching my head what they were thinking. You can load a setting but you can't really tell that it's loaded and in use by looking at the screen other than the sliders appear. You can load a setting and then change the sliders but can't save it as a new setting for yourself. Looks like there's a different path, another way in which you *can* load and edit and save (to the cloud?). Why two ways? But, then will it be loaded again when it restarts? I can't tell. Can you "unload" one? Can you disable what you a setting...disable Wx, atmos, enviro? It would be nice if the home screen showed you your state...what settings you had loaded, let you edit it and save it locally and give you the *option* to upload it to the cloud. (There's no point in posting every, sometimes, crappy setting to the cloud for everyone to fish through.) The foundation of the product is solid and effective...huge potential...they just need to think it through. Also, I've found it's best to leave it off until your airplane is loaded. At least on my rig, it really messes with the Free Flight screen. Would be nice if they would just make it load when the flight loads and activate your preferred settings and show you what settings you had loaded and shut itself down when the flight ends. Again, basic. Gregg Gregg
  16. My thoughts after getting it. I'm using a preset (AB MSFS) with some haze effects (I've always felt that visibility in MSFS is much to high, particularly in the summer). To me, it adds a depth to the atmosphere that the default doesn't provide. You get the sense that you're flying in an atmosphere. You also get a sense for how high you are or how far away something is. This gives you a better sense for how large something is since you have a sense of how far away it is. It also hides some of the distant weirdness that can happen...where LOD ends...where cloud patterns sometimes repeat. Psychologically, it has a surprisingly big effect. It's not perfect but a pretty happy medium. I hope that they enhance the product to make automatic adjustments based on visibility, precipitation, atmospheric particles, etc. Gregg
  17. I'll update the thread if they make improvements or I find improvements on my own. I just did an approach and it was a fight keeping the Longitude on final...a real workout. But, the flair was amazing. The connection between the yoke and the sim was amazing in that moment. That's what I mean about love-frustration. Gregg
  18. I got one about 2 weeks ago. The trim issue is real. There's much to like about it. The movement is smooth and has an aircraft "feel" to it. When sitting on the runway without moving, it feels very real. Also, lots of buttons which are useful. When you fly with it, you feel very much that the yoke is part of the plane. Really nice haptics...bumps, buffets, vibrations. But, back to that trim issue. Ugh, you have two choices. 1) Heavy, difficult to move yoke where you can feel the trim or 2). light touch yoke where you can't. Also, even if you feel the trim, it's the same strength no matter how far you move from trim center. You can turn down the "weight" (the force that makes the yoke movement 'heavy' and requires muscle) to something realistic for a mid or light airplane but then you can't feel the trim. Or you can turn up the weight and then you feel the trim but it takes muscle to pitch...quite a bit of muscle. (I used to fly Cessnas and Pipers with a finger and a thumb.) The heavy weight is probably fine for airliners but for light and mid sized aircraft it's way too much. Also, the "rubber band" strength should increase the further you are from trim center...pretty much like a non-FFB yoke does. So, no, not realistic. Sometimes the yoke behaves as if you have aileron trim put in...it "pulls" left or right. I have no explanation for that...very, very rare for me to use aileron trim. So, to the point: has potential, but needs a lot of work. My simple advice to them is this: 1) Implement basic trim first. Make the trim work as well as a basic non-FFB yoke and then improve on that. 2) Make the trim center move and have adjustments for stronger or weaker "springs". 3) Add "weight". 4) Have real pilot betas. They're working on it. I haven't gone back to my old yoke (been tempted). Truth is, I hate tweaking to try to get it more realistic. I just want to fly the plane. So, love-frustration. Best I can describe. Gregg
  19. Precisely. They need to analyze the data and set the visuals based on that data. I do see the benefit of it, if they do that.
  20. I got mine yesterday (took a month to arrive). I just hooked it up tonight but haven't configured it for the sim yet. Seems like a pretty solid piece of equipment. One thing is that it only has 3 aircraft profiles...777, 737 and c172. I hope they make more or that folks will start uploading profiles to flightsim.to. Gregg
