Black square caravan pro 0 engine condition
I second that. Don't move the condition lever before Ng is at 15-20%. If you move it too early, the engine will need to be repaired. The engine models of Black Square are very detailed, they are one of the big selling points. You can't get away with going full throttle like with other developers.

Aerosoft releases update for their A346
On my first flight with the new update. The waiting time after "Start flight" is now consistently around 3 minutes. After that, I've had a very smooth experience so far. I really like the airplane now. I also think the cockpit texturing is perfectly fine for an older Airbus. I do not have any complaints about that. On the contrary, I think it is great that they added options for starting with bright displays, adjust wing flex intensity and so on. I think Aerosoft/ToLiss did a great job with this update. Kudos.

How's this for realism?
Now I wanna be 30 years younger 🙂

Too fast for me!
That's what the authorities thought as well. He got a fine, I think.

Too fast for me!
Speaking of Autobahn: this guy created some controversy a few years ago because he went more than 400 km/h 🙂

Too fast for me!
There's only one thing that I find more frightening than a lap on the Nordschleife: the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man: As for my own record speed: about 220 km/h in a Mercedes rental car by myself, and about 270 km/h as co-pilot in a friend's Audi TT, both on the German Autobahn. The 220 km/h was under very safe conditions (hardly any traffic, straight road), but my friend drove 270 km/h between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden in fairly high traffic. I was was genuinely frightened.

Aerosoft releases update for their A346
Thanks for reminding me. I had even worse problems with the initial release (WASM crash every time I started a flight) and Aerosoft told me to delete the WASM folder of the plane to recompile it. That took 20 minutes and resolved the issue. Every other time I started the plane afterwards still took very long, but more like 15 minutes. After your post, I loaded a flight two more times. The plane needed about 3 minutes to load. That's in a range that I find acceptable. The only other plane on my system that needs longer to load is the iniBuilds A350 with about 1-2 minutes. So, the loading time is now roughly comparable. Thanks to Aerosoft and ToLiss. I also checked frame rates, they are very good. My system is now 5 years old and certainly not top of the line anymore, but I get (at very basic airports in a remote area) 60 fps when the plane is cold and dark, and 45 fps after starting up the systems. That is pretty good on my system and better than the iniBuilds A350. I think I will take the plane for a spin this weekend 🙂

Aerosoft releases update for their A346
I haven't used it much either. The frame rates were acceptable, but it took 15 minutes from pushing "start flight" until the aircraft was loaded. I just tested it: it's down to 5 minutes. Some progress, but that waiting timer is still annoying.

VR Help
I am using the Quest 2 with my 5-Year old PC. I started with a USB connection as well, but after a while the cable wasn't connecting perfectly anymore. I then switched to wireless connection using https://www.vrdesktop.net/ which works really well. If you connect the PC via ethernet to a router, the performance is at least as good as with a wired connection to the Quest headset. Maybe give that a try, it is not very expensive.

Do the pilots know all the formulas?
Yep, the 3:1 rule is one to remember. Another one is the 2% rule for ground speed: if you know your true airspeed, the corresponding ground speed increases by 2% for each 1000 ft of altitude. For everything else I use Simbrief or an EFB calculator. I do remember the equations, but mostly because I used to do that (I use a lot of math in my job).

For anyone who likes the Caravan: check out Google Street View at Arusha airport HTAR in Tanzania. Especially the isolated dots on the tarmac. Amazing 😲

Upcoming Carenado King Air 200
I gave in, I just am too partial for Beechcraft planes. Twitchy indeed, but I found few things that may be worth mentioning: - I am using an Octavi mini-cockpit, especially with any King-Air models because the heading knob is on the center pedestal and really inconvenient if you fly in a simulator. That works great with Blacksquare models and most other airplanes, but the Carenado plane does not recognize any input from it. And since all files are encrypted, there is no chance to fix this ourselves. I hope Carenado will fix that or at least publish the variables so that we can try ourselves. - I had some turbulences on approach to CYQM. The plane is twitchy, of course, but I also have the impression something really weird goes on when your speed is below 120 Kts. I got repeated stall warnings and corresponding handling even though I was above 100 Kts with flaps full down. If you then put the throttle forward, the plane is very hard to keep from climbing, almost as if the autopilot was still on. I agree with some others who wrote above that the basis is very nice. I hope they fix the problems to make it a really nice airplane. Peter

But the long-haul extension is in the works. I believe it will go to closed beta soon, but don't quote me on this 🙂

Fly the Line - Short Haul Edition: This looks promising
I haven't tried it with the Caravan yet, but yes. I flew the BlackSquare Bonanza with FTL a lot between the Shetlands and the Orkney islands to small airports.

Simmarket giveth and Simmarket taketh away
I had a somewhat comparable experience recently when I tried upgrading a CYUL scenery I bought from ORBX for MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024. My original purchase was not listed anymore, and after a lot of searching I found it tucked away in an obscure corner of the "my downloads" page. In the end, I found on Google that the company that created my old scenery had committed a copyright violation with CYUL and some other airports. ORBX and other store had pulled their products from the stores and the company disappeared. It then re-emerged under a different name, and they remade CYUL. However, I decided to get the MK version for MSFS 2024 instead.

Musketeer d'Artagnan's remains believed found.
The real musketeers where elite troops in the 17th and 18th century who were originally distinguished by other cavalry units by wearing muskets. The were resonsible for the king's safety outside of the palace. The novels/movies were inspired by the real d'Artagnan, but there is a lot of artistic freedom involved 🙂

Help with Helipads
qqwertz replied to Rob G's topic in Little Navmap | Little Navconnect | Little Logbook Support ForumThe csv files may be useful, but you need to do a bit of work. Some RL helipads have an ICAO code, others don't. However, in MSFS 2024, I believe all helipads have a code, partly just made up. If you identified helipads for departure and destination, you can enter the corresponding codes manually into your flight plan. But that's not all. Unfortunately, many helipads in MSFS 2024 are not corrected for altitude. I have started flights at helipads with a code and was deployed in the middle of a steep hill. In RL there is a flattened part there, but not in MSFS. So, if you want to make sure you will have an enjoyable flight, visit helipads first, especially those out in the country. Peter

BlackSquare Caravan Professional out
Hi Ryan, since you know so much about C208 liveries: are you aware whether anyone has made/is making a livery for this airline? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coastal_Aviation And can you let us know when the paint kit will be published? Thanks, Peter P.S.: Beautiful work, as always from BlackSquare

Official Aerosoft-Toliss A340 trailer and livestreams of it
I still cannot fly the A340 because of WASM crashes every time I load the plane. I submitted a ticket on Friday, no response from AS/Toliss yet. I appreciate that this was over a weekend, but I would say so far their support cannot qualify as stellar anymore.

Official Aerosoft-Toliss A340 trailer and livestreams of it
I managed to make one flight in it, which was nice. The other 10 times I tried to start a flight, either MSFS 2024 hang or I had WASM crashes. That thing is not easy on resources.
