2024 newbie question about these menus

Featured Replies

Hi, I've been enjoying setting up 2024. I need a better PC but the performance seems much better than 2020.

I set up my controls successfully on two planes, the A2A Comanche and A2A's Aerostar.

I'm baffled by these menus that I've circled in red though.

Can someone explain what they do and how they worK? It would be very much appreciated.

They're presets.

You could have multiple presets for General controls (like camera controls), same for general aircraft controls (controls that would be shared like flaps down or up etc), and then presets for specific controls.

The little gear icon should allow you to change response curves or sensitivity etc.

Thanks Ryan, you're always a great help and I appreciate it. But is there any kind of document or YT that explains how to use them because I'm beyond confused by them.

I personally haven't had struggles with it but I must be in the minority because I've heard many people don't like it.

I'd just youtube search MSFS 2024 controller setup - here's a video that popped up

Thanks Ryan, so you actually understand it? Do you do programming, like in real life?

It's not that complicated. Watch a couple videos and you'll get the hang of it. You don't really need to mess around with it much once it's set up.

Thank you Jonathan.

You can adjust controls while flying also.  Click on the controller.

Thank you my friend. On some airports I get warnings that I have to lower my settings because of my GPU but I'm not sure what settings to lower.

One question. I went through and literally typed out all the options, all of them, I do this in every sim going back to FSX. I remove all assignments and make my own.

But one thing I can't seem to find and it bugs me is when I move the cursor over a knob or something in the cockpit it turns blue. Is there a way to turn off that blue? I flew real planes and worked them all my life and I've never seen a knob light up blue 🙂

Hi Jack:

Unlike your RW experience, I have none…🙂…so, the tooltips and such actually help my eyes identify cockpit instruments for easier adjustments.

Anyway, in MSFS2024, the user interface for such things is “Flight Interface” via (Settings -> General). You can adjust Cockpit Interaction System (turn off the blue highlight) and also disable Instrument Name Tooltips there.

Please look for on-line videos.

Cheers…!

Thank you. I could have sworn I did this but I’ll look again when I get a chance.

What I do is set the Airplanes Controls and Specific Controls to profiles named NONE which are profiles with all assignments removed. And then I use a General Controls profile for each controller to do all the assignments.

If I want a profile for only one plane. like an  A320, then I save a profile in the General Controls named for instance A320 AlphaYoke. I also have another named with my initials which is my "normal" profile to use on most planes. I can make a profile called AirlinerTMPedals or one called helicopterTMThrottle and so forth (for each controller). All with different names.

If this sounds a lot like 2020, it is exactly like 2020 only with a different GUI layout. And has the advantage that I can click on the cog icon and save the profiles anywhere I want. Like on a USB stick and also on my hardrive. So each one is backed up twice.

I do it this way, because it is simple, like in 2020.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
