Sometimes I just wish he would stop making these kinds of posts (and others I've seen him make). As one MSFS developer has already told me, "The MSFS community will eat their own." Yeah, I’m all for contrarian opinions and such (I despise “hive-mindedness”), but sometimes he makes the craziest assertions. seems to be more reasonable of late, though 🤙 re the MSFS community: it’s just amazing to see people bitterly complaining about truly minor “issues” when we have the best addons and best flight simulation experiences ever in history. I flew all three over the weekend, and I can categorically affirm that X-Plane, MSFS, and DCS World all are incredibly better than just a few years ago. Too much good clean fun, and as always, waaaay cheaper than a trip to the movies!! 😁 Edited September 8, 2025Sep 8 by UrgentSiesta
September 8, 2025Sep 8 Yep well said… I fly both sims regular … mainly fly the Challenger in XP12 and the Fenix in FS24…. Love them both equally…. It’s just the best time and I’ve been into this hobby since 1998 … HUGE improvements in both sims 👍 Regards Paul EGCC

September 9, 2025Sep 9 Any clues how this scenery overhaul is done? Will it be completely new, or an evolution of the current engine? Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024

Mister X has been hired to work on the scenery. When someone gets paid to do something, it's a safe bet it's going to be something spectacular. (And no, I haven't seen it. Yes, I know what is being done.)

Austin/Laminar have been consistently evolutionary for as long as I can tell. And generally speaking, that’s turned out well, if not quite as fast as some of us would prefer 😁 The only real clue we have is Mister X and his previous work on SFD Global. given the restrictions LR places on using satellite data, whatever they give us isn’t going to be photo realistic (perforce). It’ll Still be better, and hopefully, genuinely good. but I seriously doubt we’re gonna be deleting Orbx and ortho, etc

Using OSM data with real building profiles, locations, fields, forests, etc. is going to be a dramatic, and welcome, departure from today. I'd like to be able to feel so "at home" in Xp12 as I do in FS 2024, and that is, in good part, why I have been leaning towards FS 2024 more and more... From the interviews I have heard, it looks like a part of that new scenery will be build based on satellite imageries and they will generate „landclasses“ out of them that should be way more detailled than the older one. They won’t use raw satellite-imageries to avoid the weird areas with shadows, snow or other projected objects at the surface (like we can see on raw satellite-images). So it should be very „clean“. For the autogen I don‘t know. i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM

The default scenery is one of the biggest barriers that prevents many users from sticking with XP12 long enough to appreciate its major advantages over MSFS. The weather system is superb overall, but there’s one frustrating bug: low clouds often get cut off at the horizon or appear too translucent, which makes distant clouds show through and creates a distracting cut-off effect. I absolutely agree with you. Although this weird effect has been way more rare in the past few updates, it keeps appearing from time to time. i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM

I don’t think they’ll be using the satellite images themselves as part of the scenery, so no need to do any color masking.
