XP12 FPS in X-Plane Manual

I'd rather stop using X-Plane altogether than revert to a mid-90s flightsim scenery configuration.

Fortunately, I can code and am not afraid to invade X-Plane's privacy.

If you set shadow quality to minimum and run this script with FlyWithLua, the FPS hit when looking away from the sun at low angles will be negligible.

Do you also know how to extend the shadow draw distance?

  • Well, more FPS feels smoother for one, so I do not concur with that statement from the manual. What should be avoided is large fluctuations in FPS. It doesn't help having super smooth 140 FPS whe

IIRC, an Austin interview said he really wanted to see upwards of 60fps.    I generally keep mine in the 40-50 range unless at a very heavy urban airport  (which I generally avoid 😁).  Wit

No. But you can always download DataRefTool, filter the dataref list for "shadow" and investigate yourself.

Oh very nice. Thank you. I didn't bother moving the quality slider and it still cuts that fps crash in half. Keeps the sim well above 60 now.

Glad it helps. I've only figured this out during the 12.2 beta run as I thought this was a new bug, but it turns out this behavior has been present for much longer.

Imagine yourself in the place of a non-native speaker with limited training and experience already struggling to translate what is written, then throw scrambled letters and incomprehensible sentences into the mix and you have a perfect recipe for immense frustration. I don't expect anybody to be the perfect English speaker (I, for one, am not), especially if dyslexia or deafness is involved, but at least making an honest effort to be as good as possible is - frankly - a matter of respect.

I do not disagree, but it's always funny when people say this... and then have a typo!

I am old-fashioned in this way myself - and when I see a post full of orthographic and grammar mistakes, or one with complete disregard for capitalization (more relevant in German), I immediately form an opinion about the writer, his intellectual merit and some other attributes of his in my head.

No one is perfect, and I myself struggle a lot with some aspects, like setting commas or "dass" and "das" in German, others have dyslexia, poor eyes or are simply getting along in age where finding the right words or remembering how they are spelled is becoming a challenge.

Nevertheless, just like clothes, a smile or the first handshake form a first impression, so does a written post. We are humans, after all.
