The image quality is better in 2020 using the same display settings Have to wholeheartedly disagree with you there. The difference in visuals between 2024 and 2020 for me is like night and day. 2024 has vastly superior lighting and crisper textures, even on comparatively lower settings than in 2020. You can try MSFS 2024 for $1 USD if you never subscribed to Gamepass before, and end the subscription before you are charged for the second month. It's a cheap way to try MSFS 2024 before you buy it. I see no such offer and I think that is because I did this with MSFS2020.

I was very and vocally critical of MSFS 2024, be it about the pure existance of a new MSFS or about the disaster of a release or about the lack of actual progress in many areas compared to MSFS 2020. But it has stabilized rather quickly and it's my go to sim now (still having 2020 for the PMDG/iFly 737 flights). Personally it's well worth it for: 1) Performance. Performance is 20-30% better on my system than with MSFS 2020, which is huge. EXCEPT for when it runs out of VRAM, which unfortunately happens too much at the moment. 2) Lighting and ambience is much better than with 2020. The colors of 2020 look cartoonish compared to 2024. 3) Weather is significantly improved, and there's also 24h historical weather now. With 2020 I had to use ActiveSky because of the predictable clouds and no historical weather. That's much improved with 2024. 4) I can't say exactly why, but the ground looks MUCH better in 2024. It's definitely to do with the trees and colors of various objects and satellites, maybe also with the lighting. I fly airliners only, but the difference during departure and approach or during taxi is enormous. 5) The EFB. The EFB now has all info I need for my flights: Simbrief OFP, METARs (even historical), LIDO charts. On 2020 I always had to use my iPad. Couldn't have said it any better. Just adding here for OP to see another vote for v2024. AND another vote to keep v2020 until they're sure v2024 is right for them.
