February 19, 20251 yr I would say accidents in General Aviation is business as normal, no more or less than usual, but the recent DCA and Toronto incidents has hightened awareness on everything aviation, at least no one is talking about Boeing anymore Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

February 19, 20251 yr Yeah, I was surprised to read about this GA accident on the front page. I think this is media - there are PLENTY of GA accidents happening. This collision happened at an uncontrolled field. Unfortunately, GA is full of folks that make very questionable choices sometimes, thus the accident rate much greater than commercial.
February 20, 20251 yr Moderator I tend to think that this one in particular is likely a result of "lack of situational awareness..." Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

I have a lot of respect for Juan Browne and his Blancolirio channel on YT. His initial analysis on this one was surprising to me...my take-away was that he was actually mad about this accident...not his usual (extremely) objective reporting, IMHO. Going further into the comments on his video post and someone stated that the Lancair was coming in for his second landing attempt...on the first attempt, he came within 100 ft of a previous accident...apparently verified with ADS-B data...I haven't double checked on that. Fortunate that at least one of the aircraft was able to land safely. Regardless, RIP to the two individuals.
