  • yep that was my very first pc i had, had floppy disk as well for games etc https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga_500

I had Flight Simulator 2 and Shuttle : The Space Flight Simulator on that list. The latter (somewhat controversially) allowed the user to detach the solid rocket boosters before they had exhausted their fuel, resulting in the destruction of the orbiter!!

My first computer was an Amiga 500, replaced it a couple years later with an Amiga 2000, then switched to Intel or AMD based PC's.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Wings I always found a bit depressing, as I do with most things related to WW1 , an horrific waste of life.

F18 Interceptor , was definitely a good one, I always remember it when I’m in San Francisco and see the Sutro tower and recall buzzing it.

FS2 I remember as being a bit smoother than on that video but obviously it wasn’t.

Gunship 2000 actually had me walking into an army recruitment office in 1993 wanting to fly army helicopters. They told me I had to go in as ground crew first, I couldn’t go straight in as a pilot , which I believe was nonsense according to the army air corps guys I’ve subsequently flown with, who are always amusing and pleasant guys. Being a fully qualified commercial pilot at that stage I couldn’t face starting again from scratch so walked away.

A sim I think that deserves to be on the list was fighter bomber, very accessible and nice to fly.

I Spent many hrs playing F18 Interceptor on my Amiga 500 back in 1989 - 1990 , I thought it was great with good graphics at the time.

looking back at it after all these years it looks very basic by today's standards but back then it was about as good as you could get

Amazing how far technology has come that something that was so groundbreaking at the time could easily be done on a modern phone or tablet or handheld gaming system, and be faster and better looking nowadays, exhibit A being Aerofly or Xplane mobile.

The video left out a flight sim for the Amiga that won best sim of the year at Computer Gaming World. (Not just best flight sim, but best sim of any type). Also a few years later was awarded by CGW as #4 best PC game in history. It was on Amiga and on PC. This was for all PC games of any time. However, it was cursed by Snoopy.

Initially I had a Sinclar Spectrum but obtained a Commodore 64 when they became available... and on that baby my favourite sims were Flight of The Intruder and Flight Unlimited 3.

Flight Unlimited 3 on the Commodore 64?? Those memory cells are faltering badly, Martin
