December 9, 20241 yr I didn't see this in the theatres. I had no interest, because I assumed it would be hollywood shlock. My low expectations (and yucky theatres) have caused me to miss more than a few movies at this point, only to find years later that I actually liked them, sometimes a lot. Like Pandorum, for instance, that had terrible marketing, and turned out to be true science fiction and not what I expected at all. Or even Gravity...... (I would have loved to see that on the big screen...... Anyway's, this is a surprisingly good movie, thanks again YouTube! NOTE! If it wont play in your browser, click "Watch on Youtube" in the lower left corner. Edited December 9, 20241 yr by HiFlyer We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... December 9, 20241 yr The last time I went to a theater, the first thing that showed on the screen was the Netflix logo. There was only one other group in the audience. The theater was a bit crappy. Contrast this with watching 2001: A Space Odyssey in the Palace theater in Dallas. Huge screen, speakers all the way around the theater, and a theater pipe organ down front. I must have paid to see that movie 20 times, probably not all in the Palace theater. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

For my 12th birthday that year, I told my parents that I wanted my present to be that I could treat my neighborhood friends and take them along with me to see it (there were six of us). That was fun. We were dazzled by the special effects. It took me two more viewings of it to finally grasp what it was was really about 🤪

You almost couldn't see the wires! 😄 😄 I've got an even better story about seeing Star Wars for the first time. A good friend that I worked with was a member of the Baltimore Science Fiction Society (who did Balticon every Easter). The club bought a block of tickets to the premier far in advance, and at a discount. These were offered to the members of the club (and their friends 🙂 ). The day of the premier, a bunch of us were let into the theater in a group, ahead of the long line. No waiting and we got the best seats AND got a discount on the tickets. We got a few dirty looks that day, lemme tell you. 😄 At least one change from subsequent viewings: "THX-1138, why aren't you at your post?" got quite a few laughs. RIP Pat Kelly. I miss you.
