July 24, 20241 yr I enjoy flying during dusk/dawn hours and noticed that the lights are lacking that punch. They seemed washed out on my screen. Is there any mod to give the lights stand out more? July 24, 20241 yr You mean when cruising at altitude and from a distance? Yeah, beige/yellow blobs. For a sim that offers such astonishing visual acuity, it's such a let down I don't even bother flying at night. I've searched everywhere to turn the sepia blobs off, but you can't do it. Every time I move my head it's like the lights disappear then re-appear. Very annoying. The only "good" thinkg about the night lighting is the clouds illuminating from below over heavily populated areas. Other than that I can't say many nice things about MSFS night lighting with it's yellow blobs all over the night sky 😞 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
July 24, 20241 yr Author Yes, those yellow/white/orange orbs you see. During dawn/dusk they should be brighter and glow more. I wish there was a setting to adjust the intensity of these lights only without affecting anything else. It's possible to do this in X-Plane and I wish there was a way to do the same in MSFS. For example if you guys have a PS5 and have ever played Gran Turismo 7 on an HDR OLED Display, the car lights look really beautiful and they look extremely realistic. They really pop and this is the same effect or look that I'm trying to achieve. July 24, 20241 yr Author Here's what I'm talking about. The lights look dull and washed out and is missing that glow and intensity. July 24, 20241 yr RGB values only go from 0 to 255 and can only be as 'bright' as your monitor. Lights at night will always be a large compromise compared to real life.
July 24, 20241 yr Author How come it's possible in other games then? July 24, 20241 yr Author I want the lights to look something like in this video. This was back in FSX, so I know it's possible to do in MSFS. Mine look every bit as bright as these in the video. A lot depends on your altitude and weather but in this video it's all down very low. July 24, 20241 yr Author I'm talking about dawn/dusk where the sun is still right above the horizon and you can still see the blue skies. July 24, 20241 yr ReShade! Completely changed the look of the sim. Find some presets on .to and tweak them till your heart's content. Not sure if your monitor supports HDR, but this coupled with some fine tuning of shaders has led me to put away my VR headset. Using an OLED panel with HDR and reshade...game changer. Is there any mod to give the lights stand out more? Using DLSS? If so, that will dull and dim night lights such as city, street lights and airport taxiway and runway lights. TAA is the only thing that will brighten them up. Eric

July 25, 20241 yr There are so many factors at play here that together make up individual perception of visual images. I have a modest monitor that is capable of displaying HDR images and there is a world of difference between the images displayed with HDR on and off, both during day and night. IMO, the night images in HDR are simply spectacular without global adjustments of the type carried out by the nVidia filters or reShade. Different people will report different results depending upon how they and their equipment are wired.
