The TFDi MD-11 is now released

Thanks for the hints, I've used Edge Browser for downloading, and disabling the windows security function for installing an addon sounds a little bit strange for me at the first moment. But if this is the last option I will thinking about it. Meanwhile I got an advise how to proceed from TFDi and will follow as soon I'm on my desk again, hopefully this brings more light into the failed installation process. Best regards

I’ve done a few flights in it and find it quite fun, quirky and not very easy to land smoothly. The tablet is a bit clunky compared to the Fenix but it’s arguably better than PMDGs.
I find it next to impossible to taxi at anything over 9 knots though, anyone else find the nose wheel steering not so easy to use?

I reckon that the real plane doesn't like high speed turns either, so taxi slowly when turning. Otherwise it just keeps going straight 😄

Generally no more than 10 knots in turns for airliners (anything sharper than a high speed taxiway).

Its hard when you’re in a sim with no feedback, but that’s a good rule of thumb to prevent issues.

Well that puts it into perspective! First time I see that IRL.

The real MD-11 seems to have poorer ground handling than MSFS! 🙂

Wow. He must have been wondering if he'd make that turn at all! Then when he did get round it I notice the NW was still scuffing and he overturned to the left. Given there were landing gear 'remove before flight' tags still flapping in the breeze, I'm guessing the aircraft was being positioned for something.  The mid gear was down so perhaps she was partially loaded but yet to be refuelled? Quite apart from the speed of approach to that turn, maybe the CoG was a little aft and the NW was light. Who knows, but could be contributing factors.

Can anyone tell me who conducts these positioning taxis? Is a crew specifically pulled out for this or is it a signed out maintenance crew?

Cheers

Terry

No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.

Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower!

For those who are following development / patches / bugs on the MD-11: has anyone mentioned the external weathering on the freighter version ? The dirt and general grime looks way over the top to me, and tends to get in the way of the various liveries. Has it been mentioned to TFDi ?

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

I think this gets down to the painters,  they working with the paintkit i assume and if you lower the dirt PSD's or move it all the way down you have another effect.

So releated to the people who doeing the paintjobs..

cheers 😉

for taxi max N1 40%, maximum taxi speed straight ahead is 25 kt and maximum taxi speed during turns, on ramp, on contaminated surfaces and in congested area is 10 kt or you will damage your nosegear, consider to use ENG2 only for taxiing to avoid FOD.

For my "Installation Failed" problem I found out it was caused by the long filename problem. although in registry long filename was set to 1 it doesn't work. TFDI has extrem long filenames in the MD11 file structure so it will reaches the limit soon and it seems to be a problem for several customes too, reading their discord. Best regards

Thanks for that. I've had a look through the freighter repaints at FS.2 and nobody seems to be reducing the dirt at all. As you say, it's down to the individual painter.

Have to agree that the dirt and weathering is over the top on many of the repaints. Hope some painters will give us a range so they don’t all look like they air not airworthy or just pulled out of 10 years in the boneyard. Sometimes less is more with these effects.
