PMDG Update 3.0.92

I don’t see this as being ready for the Vatsim CTP later in April. I see this being another 4 to 5 weeks before release.

I had serious, constant issues with Couatl and eventually deleted it.

You're not alone. Made me sad - I enjoyed GSX in P3d, but as implemented for MSFS, Couatl was a buggy mess that kept crashing. It isn't immersive to have to keep taking the VR goggles off and alt-tab out of the sim to restart a program that will only crash again in a few minutes. I finally gave up.

They also said they wanted to release a complete product with nothing to be added further down the line...

I don't believe they've said that, because they did say the new stuff like announcements is being developed separately from major releases, which contradicts that entirely.

That doesn't sound fun at all. Or immersive. IT has been working really well for me for the last 7 ish months. You know, if you ever hop back in. Fenix does have great sounds though. I eventually turned those off and used GSX for continuity with other planes.

I understand. Unfortunately this is not the first time when they screw something up; this time is "one notch up". With this QC, I have a big issue, not good at all.
RSR is known as an very good pilot and qualified in the 747, Boeing airplanes kind of have similar systems and not so far apart from each other. Why he's not checking personally each update after the programers think that is good to go, is beyond my understanding. It's his own business, perhaps is preoccupied by something else that is badly affecting all this.

Are we really expecting a CEO to deep dive check every detail about a release that his programmers signed off on?  Why even hire staff if you don't trust them to do their work correctly?

It is crucial for a CEO to take decisive action when faced with significant problems. Failure to do so could lead to severe consequences for the company. Additionally, as I mentioned earlier, the CEO is a qualified pilot and is more likely to understand how things should work, compared to a programmer who lacks pilot training. The same goes for the programmer's perspective as well. Furthermore, the CEO's team is likely to be very small, perhaps consisting of only a few individuals.

Issues: This most recent update has caused an issue with using their EFB and then plane controls subsequently not responding to mouse/keyboard or controller inputs. Its as if there is an issue with the camera. When this happens/happened I could use my head tracker and use the mouse in the EFB but nowhere else.

This also happened to the COWS DA42 later that day but it could be unrelated.

PMDG were about 10 people before they hired several more recently.

They are aware and currently trying to test/fix. I deleted all of their 737 series for now. I think it was affecting other planes as well.

Had their 737s since release and never had a a real issue until now! That's saying something. Some quirks here or there but nothing like this. It was bound to happen.

I installed the latest update, gone about half a dozen flights with the 737-800, zero issues.

That's wonderful. For some of us, the EFB is causing odd issues after its used in flight.

I only use the EFB for preflight setup and approach.

Try this > it's worked on a couple of planes where this happens for me. (Might not work in the PMDG but worth a try if it happens again, in the 737 or anything else.

  • Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del
  • Windows Lock screen appears
  • Press cancel

I did the above for a few lock-ups, and perhaps it was the refreshing of the display, context or runtimes, but it 100% gave me my controls back.
