Did you know that a clothes dryer runs on 30 amps? Well at 7200W 😉 I'm quite impressed with the MSI cooling solution though. Here's some stats running Furmark: And I just came over this 4090 review from rockpapershotgun, not a bad website indeed. Quote You probably already knew if you were willing and able to buy the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 after seeing its price announcement, so here’s a short version of the following review: Yes, on pure performance it’s the best graphics card for 4K you can get. Yes, DLSS 3 is the real deal. And no, neither of those make the RTX 4090 good value for money, even if it makes a compelling argument for Nvidia's latest upscaling tech. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
October 18, 20223 yr Another video showing DLSS3 in action with a fast aircraft. I'll let the audience be the judge of visual artifacts (and my terrible aerobatic skills, lol). One of the fun things about Vertigo (apart from the PT6A 850HP turbine engine, a top speed of 365kts and a max climb rate of 12,000fpm) is that it's got full CFD, including CFD ground effect. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

I often see discussions on the hardware needs of MSFS without mentioning if the user is on a pancake screen or goggles. My dated system handles the 3440x1440 screen still pretty well, even with high settings. 30-40 fps or even more and fluid, nothing to complain about. The fun ends as soon as I put on my Reverb (1). 15-20 fps just don't cut it. This was not in sight when I bought the present system 6 years ago and not even upon launch of MSFS. After having experienced VR, I just can't go back. Which inevitably requires me to upgrade now. I believe it's sufficient for the HP G1/2 right now. However, I don't buy a new system more often than once in 4-5 years, and moreover I'm tempted to switch to a better headset (Varjo Aero comes to my mind) in the future. This way a 40xx card might be more future-proof. I didn't make a final decidion, though. The 4090's in Germany are 2200 €+ right now which is beyond what I am prepared to spend. Will see what the 4080 16 GB bring to the table. The 4090's in Germany are 2200 €+ right now if you can wait: there will be new VR headsets in 2023 based on SONY's new micro-Oled. much higher resolution than Varjo or any other currently available headset. "Sony reports that the new microdisplay features very low latency, with a response time of <0.01 seconds. The prototype display utilizes a white OLED with color-filters architecture. Last month we reported that Apple analyst Ming-chi Kuo says that Apple plans to launch its first AR headset in Q4 2022, powered by dual 4K OLED microdisplays, produced by Sony. October 19, 20223 yr Hey Michael (pmb) -- the list price here in the US for the 4080 16Gb FE is $1199. I assume you would have to add your VAT and whatever the currency exchange rates are. This site has some German pricing -- https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-rtx-4080-graphics-cards-are-priced-22-higher-in-europe-versus-us/ -- according to it the 4080 would be 1469 euros (plus VAT??). The 4080 / 16GB isn't out in Germany yet, but should be soon. 1500 € (I think that's without VAT) is still a lot but I might spend this to be on the safe side for a few years to come (hopefully...) DX12 will certainly find a way to fill the 16 GB... Also, does anybody know why the FPS on the left is higher than the FPS shown on the right? I assume the FPS shown on the left is after DLSS 3 is used to generate the extra frame(s), while the FPS on the right from MSFS's FPS counter doesn't take into effect the extra frame(s) generated by DLSS 3? Or is there another reason why the FPS on the left is higher than the FPS on the right? i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

I think that's the case, yes. Not sure why dev mode doesn't report fps with DLSS3. I've been following these two values and it seems that DLSS3 fps is pretty much always double that of dev mode. Also I really don't think the reduction in visual quality is that bad. This is probably one of the reasons why this card is getting so much heat. That and the price, lol. I think it's very user dependent how much the artifacts detract from the overall experience. For me, I'll take the double fps and deal with the artifacts, which really are mostly a problem during fast camera panning, and with really low fps. But with my hardware combination, I rarely get really low fps now. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
