One of the guys over there has hurt his feelings because some folks in facebook haven't kissed the ground under his feet, even though he has been entertaining himself with computer programs designed to simulate flying for a very long time.

Entertaining indeed.

At least it shows FSL's business decisions were not too bad. They will probably be able to sell these guys their next aircraft for 999 $. Still they will take pride in being real simmers looking down on those gamers fooling around with that cheap Fenix.

Yeesh, a lot of embarrassing masks coming off in that thread.  Always thought Rob fancied himself more objective than that, but his initial post is just drenched in bitterness despite his claims to the contrary. On a related note, I'll never get tired of a small subset of old guys who have never used MSFS for so much as 30 seconds pontificating confidently about what it does or doesn't do well.  The bit about gamers moving on to the newest shooter was just funny, considering MSFS is nearly 2 years old now.

I will say I wish more stupid conversations like that took place on other forums, instead of kicking up the same tired sand in countless threads here.  I don't think they realize how self-conscious and threatened it makes them look when they jabber the same agitated talking points for months while the rest of us sip our coffee and get excited about the Fenix or whatever.  It's just sad.

As for FSL - based on what I saw yesterday, I think they'd be wise to abandon the A320 as their first project, and focus on the Concorde or A330 instead.  They've gotta make some wise strategic choices here, or they could end up crowded out of their own niche with MSFS.  And I can't imagine they like the future they see in the coming years if they are forced to rely on P3D to stay afloat.  I hope they figure it out because more competition is better, but this Fenix aircraft is a serious kidney punch to them.

If anybody ever wondered if there is a place even MORE elitist and snobbish than avsim… here‘s your answer.

He’s been rabidly anti-MSFS, and Asobo, from the outset. He openly and directly accused MS of timing the marketing of MSFS before launch to starve P3D devs of income from the upcoming version of P3D.

I don’t give two hoots for his reputation among the P3D crowd, and dismissing all the advances MSFS has brought because its photogrammetry bridges have curtains underneath them is his prerogative. I’m just not inclined to see him as any kind of ‘voice’ in our community anymore.

You can achieve that exact lighting / shaders in P3D as you can MSFS FYI... well at least on my system.

Both sims have their negatives. Both sims have their positives. This constant "my sim is better than yours" is pathetic now.

LoL Rob is just funny. I would be honest, he is bringing this debate of your sim is better than yours like a small child who's toy has been taken away and he is crying about it.

In none of the videos or live streams I have seen, is the lighting for P3D remotely as good as MSFS. And this is P3D 5.3.

LOL NOT A CHANCE. Its night and day. And isn't this a flight sim forum for discussing flight simulation? I personally think a tug of war between my sim and your sim is great. We can point out the pros and cons of all sims, that way devs can see... competition is always good.  I have Xplane, P3D and MSFS installed.... I use all... but MSFS is ahead IMO. Don't be so sensitive.

I agree. The lighting between P3D 5.3 and MSFS is night and day. MSFS is in another league, IMO.

On the outside, perhaps when you try hard. In the VC? Absolutely not. VC cockpit lighting is awful on P3D v5, no matter HDR on or off / EA on or off.
