Clouds having even a semi-realistic impact on airframe and planning would be a great addition, and move SU5 from a bit of a damp squib to worth waiting for for me. Would love to know your experience in live weather and different cloud types (to the extent they’re there).

It's an absolute gem. Got it on a sale for a steal last year and finding it hard to fly anything else for bush now.

If you’re going to ask people to change long established habits or solutions because of a dispute with your government alone, then you may want to consider naming an alternative yourself rather than expecting them to find one.

Agreed, seas and oceans are a bit too uniformly blue. I do have some optimism for the future though as inland waters in 2024 have shown some signs of quite significant advances. Unfortunately they’re not consistent and many waterways are still the default blue, but I’ve seen many other colours in rivers and lakes on my travels in 2024. Also, no more OSM straight line rivers. As a side note, if you want a really good depiction of the water in the English Channel, try IL2 Cliffs of Dover. I’m not really interested in war sims anymore, but that one really did nail the look of the waters in the Solent.

As I said, weather and atmosphere (which includes humidity) bugs and wishlist items have sat at or near the top of the lists for several years with no traction at all, so in this case I’m afraid that no, I don’t agree that another new thread or bug or wishlist item will get any traction or faster attention. Grumbling on Avsim is just as effective. Edit; in fact I’m not sure there are any wishlist items at all in the SU notes this time?

You said you couldn’t see one comment. I provided you with one. There are several referencing atmosphere / weather which we can understand to include humidity. I get humidity itself is not a huge movement, but lots of us are disappointed that weather / atmosphere (including humidity) continues to be ignored despite many years of many bug posts / wishlist items on the official forums and questions on the dev mtgs. And here we are with yet another SU with no progress. Not surprising that you will continue your long history of defending whatever the devs do. That you think a lack of posts about humidity specifically on the official forums means it isn’t important is just daft, frankly. How anyone can think humidity or any other feature of weather / atmosphere is irrelevant in a flight sim is beyond me. But then I have a feeling that if the devs decided that lift was no longer a necessary variable, you’d find a way to be ok with it.

Doesn't seem like a whole lot to get excited about here. Was hoping for some weather improvements, but guess I'll have to just keep waiting.

Or just uninstall / reinstall. It's much quicker now.

Maybe take those out first or load in safe mode if it gives you the option.

I just went to the official forums to see if this is on the bug list for SU5 but I can't see the wishlist / bug lists anymore. They used to link to them on the weekly blogs but this week's doesn't have one. Anyone know where they are?

Pretty much every time I've had hangs on loading it's been due to a conflict from the community folder. You haven't added anything recently?

I keep a minimal install on (no packages) just to trick some installers like the Orbx one into letting me download my 2020 products for 2024.

This tool and / or dynamic settings in sim don’t interfere with AI traffic at all, right? edit, I mean if online is set to real time online traffic?

I've had a chance to look at this now and yep, Asobo's Space Needle is definitely bleeding into the DD one. I've tried reordering the DD package to the top and bottom of the pile but it still bleeds over. It is supposed to be 2024 product, so I'll raise a ticket with Orbx (where I bought it), but if anyone knows of a way to contact DD directly, that would probably be more effective. For now I've disabled the DD one, which is a shame as the models and night lighting are definitely better. TBH, I don't know if any of the other models are affected, but just knowing the Space Needle one is borked triggers my OCD😅

Think I'll wait until some further tuning is done on this before subjecting my ageing 3090 to 4.5. TBH, 4 with preset K and framegen is already pretty much perfect in pancake mode so not feeling like I'm missing out on too much more. On a side note, I started a new playthrough of Cyberpunk for the first time in 4 / preset K, and whoa, that game looks stunning now and runs like a dream. Path tracing / ray reconstruction at a steady 80FPS with a 5-yr old rig? A fitting swan song before we all submit to the hell of subscription GPUs.

Actually Bert, it does kind of look like you have two there. If you compare a photo of the actual needle it looks like you have an extra floor, and the colour of the very top part is different to the floors underneath. Unfortunately I won't have time to look at my DD copy until the weekend to compare.

Merry Crimbo all, my garmins (default) aren’t powering on when avionics master is switched on. All buttons / knobs unresponsive. Is there another logic to switching the,non in the 2024 version? Other radio/nav stacks working ok.
