your settings are terrible with the PC and GPU you have.

The 2 main sliders for you, are LOD cpu and RS GPU. There is no reason why you should not run ultra. I do and the DC never drops below 30fps.

Turn RS down to 80 and LOD to 100. If your  not now in middle 30’s to low 40’s you have a problem. You will still be cpu bound but……I tried explaining that, nvm.

No, not yet Bob. I wanted to reach out to guys here just in case it was something simple that someone else knew about. It seems I will have to post on the PMDG forum as you suggest.

Maybe this is why you are suffering these fps low.

Thanks Dave, buit I've played around with all in sim settings with no changes anywhere, apart from maybe a couple of fps 😪

Good morning fellas, thanks all for the suggestions on this. There is clearly an intrinsic issue at play here. I have redownloaded the plane, so today I will reinstall and then try again. I will also try chaning hyperthreading too. I've played with this both in P3DV4.5 and MSFS and have established 100% that my sims perform smoother and better with hyperthreading off. This is my last check before posting over at the PMDG forum. I went to exhaust every possible avenue so I am fore armed with information prior to my support request. I will report back soon.

BUT your 9700 does not even have HT, good luck in disabling this 😉

OK fellas, this is crazy! 🥵 I uninstalled the plane from the Windows apps and programs uninstall facility, downloaded a new version from PMDG. Reinstalled, booted into a flight from my local airport EGGD (Bristol) this is third party airport and hey presto, 35fps sat on the runway. Took her up for a quick spin, frames still at 30+ in the VC and up to 55 in external view. Then I thought I'd continue with testing and so went back to the main menu, selected Gatwick and, here we go again, about 20-22fps sat on the runway. Then I went to Charles de Gaule, sat on the runway with 20/21fps. So I thought perhaps there is a bug that affects performance if I restart a flight with the same plane but at a different airpoprt, so I closed the sim and started a flight from each of these three airports and the framerates never exceeded 22 at any of the airports! So what in hell's teeth went on the first time I loaded the aircraft? I'm off to PMDG support now to lodge a ticket.

The first time you loaded the pmdg have you gave it some time to settle? That happens to me to when logging in into EDDF (e.g). When I start there I have like 20-25fps and it starts increasing in the next couple of seconds or 1-2 minutes or so.

Do you have Ultra settings?

Yeah, sat there for a couple of minutes. Most settings are set as I have with all my other aircraft, on high with most effects switched off.

is it the same when you just sat at the other airports? I don't know LFPG and EGGD are quite different airports in regard to size, so wouldn't expect the same fps on these airports.

Not only is there any need with a cpu@ 5 and a 3090 to be running anything less than ultra, it bothers me that there is somthing wrong your end. 

Down load GPUZ and watch your GPU memory temps. If your are like my first 3080 you can get to over 105F on the memory, your GPU themp can look fine, as your GPU memory is cooking. I had a new card and now the GPU mem temps never goes over 82F. Its totaly diffrent to looking at you GPU temps. Goto youtube and type RTX 3080 or 3090 memory temps and see.

The last thing i can think is when you load your DC 6 look at maintance and look to see if your engines are RED if they are there is a bug in the DC6 that will bring your FPS right down.

PS if you dont run MSFS on ultra with a 3090 i will come down to bristol and slap you😜😀
