@spilok, that may be due to the fact that the PD3200U is a designer / photographer monitor, not a gaming one. Rest assured the colours will be spot on since that is one of the main reasons I bought it. IPS is the highest quality and it shows.

Research says the VA in AHVA is for Viewing Angle.  It's faster than pure IPS but sacrifices a little color.  Reviews are positive and say the color difference is imperceptible.

Stan,

If you're concerned about colour accuracy then consider one of these. https://spyderx.datacolor.com/

Colour accuracy does go off on monitors over time and that will fix it. I have the Spyder 5 - the previous version.

Ray,

I won't be that concerned as long as the colors are realistic.  I'm sure the BenQ will be as accurate as I certainly need.  I'm not going to use the monitor in a professional application, but simply for flight simulation, internet, documents and such.

My LG color looks great, and if the BenQ looks as good, I will be very happy.  I should receive the BenQ on Monday.

Well, Ray.  I tried the BenQ and it was a quality monitor.  However, after using the LG that I have now (my old 27UL600), the deep blacks were not as vivid. I actually went back to a monitor I previously returned.  I re-purchased the LG 32 UN650.  It is a 2020 monitor that INDEED has a setting for 30hz refresh!  It's HDR or Vivid setting really produces deep blacks and excellent contrast.  Other than flight simulation, the LG (for me) gives me very clear, black text...not grey.  The BenQ came closest in my evaluations to the LG, but the LG had the best of all worlds for me. All monitor adjustments available, especially vertical adjustment.

I really want to thank you for your recommendations. They were spot on. I suppose monitors, like everything else, need to have specific qualities that the user deems important.  For my purposes, the LG won my business.

Thanks for being so candid Stan. I’m surprised the BenQ was not to your liking but perhaps it’s because it’s a photographer’s monitor so is colour accurate rather than having vivid colours. Each to their own of course and it’s your money so you should spend it on what suits you and no one else. 😁

One thing I didn't do, Ray, and I read about it AFTER I sent the BenQ back.  I didn't load the software!  I just tried to set it up manually.  Perhaps that would have made a difference in my evaluation.  That really haunts me on this one.

Stan, I’m not sure if the various modes you can select are dependent on that software being loaded. But even out of the box the colours will be accurate as each is factory calibrated. Did you try the various modes?

Yes.  I try all the modes with the monitors I've trialed.  I guess I like that LG HDR setting OR their Vivid setting.

Hey guys,

When you run your monitor at 30Hz and lock the FPS at 30 is panning around the cockpit smooth? I have a 42” led 1080p TV that I use for my simulator. When I lock my fps to 60 in X-plane 11 or MSFS 2020 I get a really smooth experience especially when using my IR head tracker. The downside is 60 FPS is not always achievable in either sim. I’ve tried setting the TV refresh rate to 30Hz and then locking the sim to 30fps but no matter how I do this (nvidia control panel, riva tuner etc) looking around the cockpit with my head tracker is just not smooth.

Do you experience the same at 30Hz or is it as smooth as locking refresh rate and FPS to 60?

I have been thinking about upgrading to a 42” 4K tv but I’m nervous I’ll run into the same issues.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts

Richard

@Richdem, I don’t use a head cam. I use ChasePlane to change views and that’s fine.

Locking at 60 will result in CPU1 running at 100% in busy areas and stutters will result. You’re paying a high price for head tracking. Have you considered using ChasePlane?

I’ve never heard of chase plane Ray,

Is that P3d only?

Sorry Richard, it’s only for FSX and P3D. You need to ask the question in the XPlane or MFS forums. This sub-forum is really for hardware questions, not software ones.

Increasing resolution will only exacerbate the problem.
