I would like to be able to pick out the individual scenery items that are important to me personally, without installing the entire area. For example, when you are approaching the downtown area from a distance, the stock Bing version of the CN Tower looks like a melted candle. Your version looks great from a distance (and up close) and I would like to install just the tower without the rest of the Toronto scenery. I would love to be able to run the whole scenery, but my system can't handle it. I'm not sure. You can try to delete .json and .dds files for specific names i nthe directory. Not sure if that would work (it might load whilte objects instead or crash with an error), but you will see files starting with "Wilson" or "Midtown" or "NorthYork" and you can try to remove some of them. I don't know what will happen though... Tell me if you try, I'm curious. In fact i know you have tried to make the area is impact free as possible. What my point was is that as great as Google Maps objects are, they are not optimized for MSFS, and as thus should not be seen as the knight on the white horse that will save MSFS from itself. Google didn't design the stuff to be flown around at 30 to 60 fps with fluid motion, so it's understandable. Yes, that is absolutely correct. But it's nice that it can save us when using sparingly, complimenting missing landmarks and areas. I still am amazed that it is actually possible to capture all the 3D meshes and textures from Google , edit them and import into the sim. Amazing technology. I opened the layout.json file in the root Toronto directory and removed everything but the .BGL and CNTOWER-XXXXX-TEXTURE references. No crashes, but as you suspected the entire scenery loaded as white objects without textures (except for the CN Tower). Looks like the .BGL's would also need to be edited to remove those objects. I'll start reading up on it and see if I can figure something out. As the others here have said, thanks for your hard work in "representing the 6"... Well, then the entire thing needs to be separated and recompiled. I don't think it's worth the effort. As many people would be annoyed in multiple scenery directories in their Community folder (there are already 3 in this package) as with the inability to pick and choose which areas to load. I hope I myself would be able to enjoy my scenery in VR once I get G2 and 3080. Maintaining good FPS is much more critical in VR than on flat monitor. If you get too low - it's a vomit comet, not just some stutters. It's always good to know that somebody cares about what you do. BTW I'm not considering doing a complete hand-modelled CNC3 Brampton airport. It has no Google photogrammetry, and has a very distinct blue hangars with red roofs. Many in Toronto area have learned to fly there (or are learning). I wish I had a budget for real-life flying from there. But at least in the sim it can happen. It would be nice, if I can find enough time. I've done some experimenting in Blender design, and the hangar model is half-way there. So it's feasible. I've also done Niagara with night lighting. Will post here I guess. October 4, 20205 yr I did a flight around your Toronto last night, and then out along the coastline of lake Ontario to your Niagara (all lit up then as it was dark). It was superb. Thank you so much for this! 👍 The wife was watching over my shoulder for ages and she was amazed. Toronto is one of our favourite cities (been there twice). The locals are so friendly and it is such a great place, so it is very close to our hearts, and we will definitely be going back. On the flight around the city, we were amazed at all of the buildings and landmarks we knew. It was so easy to pick them out, and it brought back floods of nostalgia that I wouldn't ever have expected from a flight sim. I flew slow in the C152 (flaps down) as we went past the Rogers Centre (called the Sky Dome when we were last there), around the CN Tower a few times (the effect of height looking down was amazing), then over Union Station, and up Yonge Street. We spotted a distinctive triangular shaped building on the right that we remember after emerging from a rail underpass, and the twin curves of City Hall on the left, and flew over where we stayed on Dundas Street. I could go on and on - it was brilliant! As a side note and a small request, would it be possible for you to model the underground city? I have an old PATH map if that will be any use to you. Should be good on frame rate! 🤣 Sincere thanks once again. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Should be good on frame rate! 🤣 I call Toronto "The world's biggest village", because as massive as it is, it somehow has a small village feel about it, and I mean that as the greatest compliment. It'll always be the SkyDome to me. Went to a Blue Jays game on Canada Day one year and was treated to indoor fireworks after they shut the roof. Amazing! If only the roof was open in-sim, we could replicate that! And the PATH network is genius - being able to travel from subway to shops to offices in winter without going above ground. Could do with that in the UK sometimes! I already modeled a GO bus to sprinkle through the scenery, together with TTC buses that are already there in the last update. I'm planning to make CN Tower colour lighting change, like I did in Niagara, now that I figured out how to do that. It's actually 4 lights that play a prat of a single light, for evey one of them. They are programmed to bling with a specific frequency and a time delay, so they are on in sequence, which look like a single light changing colors. I will also add a few more landmarks in time, I hope...
