This is your own work? I mean, did you design the buildings yourself or did you download them from Google? If the latter, is that legal? I'm genuinely curious. I have no problem using assets from other products for my own personal scenery experiments, but I'd be nervous about releasing those projects to the public unless the assets were under Creative Commons or some other "free to use" license.

There is a delicious irony that Microsoft finds itself depending on Google to make one of its products much better 😛

Definitely. I hope it triggers them enough to improve the Bing data set.

Thanks Roman great work,  I have a question.  When I fly around Toronto your buildings....like the man/woman buildings in Mississauga look good from a distance...you can see the shape, however, when I turnaround and fly toward downtown Toronto, the CN Tower is OK but so many other buildings and the skyline are pyramid shaped buildings....how is this problem fixed, it really ruins the experience.  I don't mind if they are not in focus but please at least look like the right shape.

Hi,

I am from Montréal and i visited Toronto before going to Niagara fall 3 years ago and your work is amazing.

Do you plan to redo or improve Niagara Falls, Marineland, casinos, Whirlpool Aero Car, etc ... it would be a nice plane ride from Toronto

see you

You're welcome! For now, I'm not planning new sceneries, have to take a break. Also, we need better SDK and better Google capture tools. There are frustrating problems doing the sceneries right now. Niagara falls ca use running water simulation, which is not possible at the moment, as far as I know.

CN Tower looks OK from distance in my scenery because I created it - one of the reasons I did, actually is that it degraded too fast in default scenery. Same for all my areas - they are made to look OK at lower LOD. The pyramid shapes is how the default photogrammetry degrades at lower LOD. There is nothing you can do about that, that's how the MSFS algorythm works.

As was pointed out, most buildings are from Google Maps / Earth. The consensus is that it's perfectly legal if the result is not sold for profit. It falls under "creative use" of Googel terms. So major commercial scenery producers can't use that, but ordinary people, sharing their sceneries for free, can. At least until Google specifically objects or sends legal "cease and desist" letter - in which case I will of course take it down.

@romandesign Very nice work. Thank you for taking the time to put it together and share it with us all. Being "just down the road" in Waterloo, I'm excited to see improvements made to places that are local to me. I'll be adding this to my installed scenery immediately.

Amazing work... thanks for all your investment in this for the benefit of the community!

BTW, with a lot of the scenery enhancements coming from Google data, it makes me wonder how long it takes before some clever developer comes up with a way to stream Google data into the sim in real time as you fly 😄

Is there a link to download these sceneries without having to join? I'm sick and tired of having to sign up to get what is technically free. Please consider putting these sceneries in the AVSIM library. Thank you.

I really tried... I registeres a separate account for the library, I suffered through the horribly outdated interface, I overcompressed images because the library wouldn't accept image files over 200kb in size duh!), I shortened my description because the interface would mash all text together without any linebreaks or paragraphs or any formatting at all, and then after filling everything in - the max file size allwoed is 500Mb !!! This is a joke, clearly, as most decent MSFS scenery addons are larger. Mine is just under 900Mb, but many afer over a gigabyte in size. The library is just unusable at this state. Id they fix it - I will upload there. But good luck competing with flightsim.to and Vortex mods websites, being from a different era apparently. I am a web designer/developer by the way, I knwo what I am talking about 🙂

That would be lovely, but it's not gonna happen. Only Asobo can do such deep integration, and they are using Microsoft / Bing of course.
